If you can understand it, you can probably speak it too, i think people feel self-conscience and it holds them back. Probably why it seemingly took him no time to "learn", because he already knew how. I also think it depends on how committed you are to ones own development.
I love seeing this too. As a bilingual person I always try to encourage my Spanish speaking family and friends to be more outspoken in public . They’re so good already but it’s definitely a confidence thing.
I interviewed him for an English media channel 2 years ago and he could not even understand what I was saying so I had to say it in Spanish. The piece never went up because I couldn’t fully say what I needed to say in Spanish and he couldn’t reply to my Spanish 😂
Just noticed his voice is higher when he speaks English and deeper when he speaks Spanish. I'm so used to his deep voice that he caught me off guard with this new higher voice I hadn't heard before. 😅
That happens with me too. Everyone can tell I'm gay when I speak English because my voice gets higher and pitchy.

@@journalism101 I don't remember, I used fo listen to him more, and go back to some of his older interviews or clips, I remember seeing one on Instagram or Twitter where he was attempting to speak English and it was difficult for him, and clearly he's still struggling a bit.
Puertoricans learn english in school. We just don't practice because everything is in spanish in the island.

Senor Cabron Hay muchos Puertorriqueños que saben inglés. It’s mostly the older generations that don’t speak it or understand it. The younger generations are either fluent or have enough knowledge to understand it but aren’t comfortable/confident enough to speak it yet. Y solamente porque somos territorio de los Estados Unidos no significa que se supone que hablemos inglés, el idioma de Puerto Rico es el español por una razón.

It's a known fact that English is one of ThE hardest (if not the #1 hardest) languages to learn as a 2nd language for so many reasons; including all of the different but same, multi-meaning words, like - there/their/they're.. where/we're/wear, etc.
