@@DreamHoopz dude. how can someone having the greatest offensive peak in NBA history not win an MVP? You would rather hold him to a standard of "has to be 2nd seed, with x amount of wins or Shai gets the MVP" Ngl you had me until tht very statement, Why dont you hold Shai to high standards aswell? if you ask me, "Shai needs to have multiple 30 20 10 games or else jokic wins" sounds like you take greatness for granted.

Jokic's stats get even crazier when you filter for heaves. Hes the first player to shoot over 10 heaves (half court shots or further) in a season since Steph Curry in 2021. If you take away all his heaves, he's shooting almost 52% from three instead of 47%. And even crazier, because he's a big man and can easily tip-in layups that he misses, his Effective True Shooting Percentage is well over 70% (71%, last time I checked a month ago).
If you take out all of his half court attempts, and the fact that he tips in most of his missed layups, his real True Shooting percentage is probably between 69-75% right now. Were literally looking at the most efficient scoring season in NBA History right now.

and he's much better on defense than given credit. currently 4th in steals (a center hasn't been top 5 since David Robinson in '92) and leading the league in defensive BPM 4 consecutive seasons.
he's not being a shotblocker, but neither was Rodman, Oakley, Laimbeer, Cowens, Unseld, Sikma and many other great defensive bigs.

He's still a neutral defender -- slightly positive when it matters -- but yes. Some people talk about him like he's bad which is idiotic.
Rodman, Oakley, Laimbeer, Cowens and Unseld were all fantastic rim protectors even if they weren't shot blockers. Jokic is just a bad rim protector, period. We have the results.
Jokic's defensive flaws -- rim protection, bad in drop, bad in space -- are very very real. But he does enough other good stuff -- intelligence, activity, hands, rebounding -- to claw back all of the value he loses (and then some)

Joker only needs to continue to produce like he has the last 4 years for another 4 and even the critics, disbelievers and naysayers will have to acknowledge that his Offensive prowess is unrivaled. His defense is another story. At a casual glance, it appears average - upon closer scrutiny, it stronger than it appears and not at all weak....just not elite level....it's a very small trade off or price to pay for his absurdly productive offense.

@@ziginaigra The only one you named with stats that can compare is Wilt, and he was not as valued by his team as Joker is. Wilts best year was 1968, players back then were not payed like they are today, the sport was far less serious, less competitive so its very hard to really consider any of the guys who played in the long past as one of the greatest, it was a different game, that is the same for every sport. As for Shaq and most of the power forwards of the 90s, they relied entirely on size, as soon as Shaq was not able to dunk as well due to his age he was averaging 9 point 0 assist a game. Shaq was not a skilled player his team just made the most of his size. Shaq should not be anywhere close to the top 100, most current players are more skilled than he was in his prime. Almost all current players have more assists and better 3pt shooting % than Shaq.

This is a good video - I just thing Shai and Jok should both get MVPs both this year and last year (and Luka last year and Giannis this year). Why create all this bitterness for the fans of whoever doesn't win, when the players are all fantastic? In fact I dare say that BB from the 90s would look utterly different had he played in that era, every team would have had to adjust there play style to not get destroyed. Every other team would have been looking for players that can hit 3s and bigs with elite passing skill. He would have done what Steph did to the league.
