A Visit to a Quintessential New England Town

- Today we are taking a day trip to Western New Hampshire to visit one of my favorite Towns.....Walpole, NH.....along the Connecticut River and home of L.A. Burdick Chocolates and in my opinion a Cute, Quaint, Quintessential New England Town.....Church Bells too! I invite you to join me and I will take you to the Town Square and a Chocolate Shop to die for! Unfortunately, the French Bistro (Burdick's) was not open at the time.

I love church bells. I remember hearing them while being pushed in a carriage in downtown Beverly before I turned 3 years old. Must have resonated with me.

Greetings from England! I loved your day trip, I visited New England at Christmas quite some time ago and am totally in love with the beautiful houses and wonderful landscapes. (Also visited Boston in August….very different!)

Oh , how beautiful to have those sweet dinner guests in your yard. A snowy Sunday drive, the beautiful homes and shops. The chocolate shop was over the top for such a small town. The bakery case had my mouth watering. And church bells have got to be the most magical sound of all. Especially in the winter. Blessed are those who live so close that it is part of their life. Two gazebos, a stone church, an ice skating pond!!! It does look like a Currier and Ives painting. I am happy it was not a sunny day, as I am in California.... and I watch to live vicariously through you. These snowy days are such a tranquil, peaceful part of my Sunday. Thank you. You have a wonderful way of filming that actually makes me feel like I took a drive.

I live in Massachusetts have my whole life was raised in Milford which is south of Cape Cod. I now live in Worcester mass I am a widow since my husband passed in 2014. I love Massachusetts❤thank you for the quaint little tour. You should come to Sudbury, MA a very unique little town. The Wayside Inn is there and you can have lunch there. It’s very quaint and supposed to be haunted.❤ I love having lunch there.

How lovely! I've now added Walpole to the list of NE places to visit on our next trip from the UK. It's named after Sir Robert Walpole who is generally considered to be the first Prime Minister of Great Britain and who has a connection to Orford in Suffolk, where our holiday home is. So now it's doubly interesting for me - thank you so much for sharing!

When my paper white bulbs are done blooming I take fresh flowers and put them in water tubes and sink them into the soil amongst the green leaves . Just a few at different heights .it looks like a little garden . Love the deer such a sweet scene. Thank you for sharing.No snow here in on LI. Lots of rain.

Carla...I absolutely love Walpole and we especially love going to Burdick's. My favorite chocolates are those little mice ...they are so very yummy. If you have not had lunch or dinner at Burdick's restaurant, you must try it someday. It can be a little pricey but it's definitely worth it... I have never had a bad meal there! We always make sure that we do not order dessert with our meal, but instead we go into the little chocolate /tea room and have a cup of tea and a fancy dessert! You are right ....if you go to the top of Allison's in the autumn and you look across the Connecticut River into Vermont, it is the most spectacular view. Thank you so much for this lovely video. I enjoyed relaxing on this snowy day and going along with you on your adventure!❤❤

@@mynewenglandstory Yes I have been to Burdicks in Boston ...very nice... but imagine my surprise when we moved here and I found that beautiful hidden gem in the little town of Walpole!! I was very surprised and happy!!

The style of buildings is wonderful. Our state is very different but we have beauty too.
I've only been to Nebraska once when I was young. If I remember correctly, we went to a Corn Palace, does that sound right?

Beautiful video Carla, the baby deer were a delight to see. I loved this little town, the architecture is stunning, I can understand why they film a lot of the American films there. The church bells sounded lovely, I really find the pretty white steeple churches as you enter the New England towns a lovely welcome. Do you remember the series on the TV in the sixties’ Payton Place’?.. the town reminded me of it. I expect you were too young to remember it! It seemed a long drive? Was it far from your home?… Anyway, thank you again great video…☺️

What an adorable New England Town. Do you remember the 1960's show Peyton Place with Mia Farrow. that town reminds me of that with the beautiful white homes, steepled churches and the Gazebo..beautiful.

So enjoyed your day trip and all you showed us. I wonder if all the houses have to be white in Walpole? Also, I worry about you driving alone on the snowy roads. Were you far from your home? Also, do you get used to driving in snow and slush. We never attempt that in the south. Please be careful!
Thank you but the roads are cleared. I have always lived where there is snow so I am used to driving in it, but thank you for your concern. I am not sure the reason for the white houses. I will say, in VT a lot of the houses are white also. Have a great week.
