ugh ...my friend started playing this as a joke in a room full of Berkeley grads...we all made him shut it off ASAP bc of all the major PTSD we endured from undergrad 10 years ago.
Ok Bro I'm a Cal Bear myself (BS + MBA from Haas) but it pains me to see people putting Stanford down, when it's common knowledge that Stanford is the better university in nearly ALL aspects. These "Boo Stanfurd"-esque comments literally scream inferiority complex to outsiders, and it's NOT the impression that I want other people to have of Berkeley. Stanford people don't even give a shit about Berkeley because they KNOW that they're the better university. Berkeley people are the ONLY ones whom you'll see openly making a public show about demeaning Stanford because of, one again, the inferiority complex. It really pains me, a Double Bear, to see this kind of embarrassing behavior. Y'all are basically indirectly admitting to the world that Berkeley students have an inferiority complex.
@@catnokimochi as someone who got into both schools and chose Cal (mainly for financial reasons as well as Cal’s chem program) I think it’s for the most part all in good fun. There’s nothing genuinely harmful about college rivalry so why put down people who engage in it?
@@nolanmccafferty9932 yeah, it’d be fine if the two schools were ACTUALLY on equal footing and the perceived rivalry was mutual. the jabs are completely one-sided and completely CRINGE when it’s obvious that Stanford just doesn’t give a crap about Berkeley, yet Berkeley kids get so fired up about Stanford. That’s just plain inferiority complex and pathetic.
If you search it up, UCLA actually stole this song. Big C was the original composition made in 1913 made for Berkeley before UCLA made their own variation of this song.
Yeah +Rad Action To be honest the whole UC system shares this song, and it's not that uncommon to hear many schools in the UC system play it. But if there ever was a lawsuit or something over it, UC berkley would win it, considering they wrote it and used it as a fight song before any other UC school. I personally like UCLA's version better, but we all know who played it first.
12/14/2022 Reparations day for our stolen fight song!!! Big "C" now means cash only. No check, no credit, no crypto, no EBT.
Hail ol' California Berkeley
Hail the Gold and the Blue
If it weren't for the hight tuition
I'd attend there, too...
Go Bears! Cal Band Great!

Tbh, UCLA put this song on the map. It belongs to UCLA now. Bears should just take the L and concede the song to UCLA.
This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read
Are you joking?
Stop stealing UCLA's fight song! Get your own!

Go bears we are the original University of California, y'all copied us.
Rad Action Cal was first, so stop stealing ours
All of the UC schools use this as part of their fight song - for UCSD, this is the only fight song we have
