Politicians have always pivoted questions. They have to please a lot of people; makes sense. But most can segue into something tangentially related to the question. Kamala has the most abysmal pivoting skill I’ve ever seen. Her answers bear no resemblance to the question.
She quite literally can’t answer a question without rambling into some nonsense that has nothing to do with the topic. It’s actually crazy people don’t see this level of insanity.

Elad was really disingenuous with his response at the end. The comment is that he seems gung-ho to send people to fight but isn't willing to do it himself. That is one of the primary complaints people have about politicians. Has he never heard of the song "Fortunate Son?" The commenter wasn't saying that only people IN the military can have an opinion on military actions. I agree with the counter that if the U.S. is so dependent on Taiwan to manufacture chips the answer is to encourage American manufacturing, not military interventionism. But what else can you expect from Tim's resident 'Bolton Bro?'

On the military issue:
This is not an all-or-nothing thing. For starters, China is not the big bad superpower people are trying to make them out to be. If China gets froggy, all we have to do is blockade iron shipments and their entire economy implodes in a few months. They are completely reliant on import raw materials and we own the seas. We don't have to promise nuclear war or an invasion as a response to Taiwan.
That said, we should be placing the powers of the region into control of their own diplomatic future. Japan, Korea, Australia, Indonesia, and Taiwan need to be figuring this stuff out and we can play backstop if we want.
Regardless of all of this, Congress has the sole authority to declare war and the war powers act is not a constitutional document. Ukraine's pattern is illegal - there has been no declared war.
The Chinese economy is imploding as it is. If they dared to go to war with the US, their industrial base collapses overnight. All the debt the US owes to them vanishes into the aether.

I happen to like Trumps attitude and his ego lol I think he’s funny as hell and it’s a good thing that he can get people to do what we need them to do. His personality is perfect for this position. You aren’t having lunch with him and you aren’t going to be roommates. All that matters when it comes to a presidents personality is how will they deal with other leaders and Trump has proven he can deal with them just fine. Trump puts America first no matter what so he cares what we think more than he would care what these other leaders think of him. That’s why the lefts narrative that they could just flatter him is totally wrong and we already know that is not the case.
