I absolutely adore British humor!! Charlie seems like such a kind person. I wish him many more years of good health. Zena! WOW what an amazing young lady! She is truly a blessing to her family.
Charlie’s case made me so so sad. The part where he was speaking to the lady and she walked away but he didn’t notice so kept talking just made me almost cry. Also the fact that he is a black cab driver is really incredible. It takes a lot of work and a high intellect to earn a place in the black cab service. You basically have to memorize the entire map of London.
Yes, the part of the brain responsible for visual mapping and navigation is called the posterior hippocampus. They are significantly larger in cabbies, compared to those of people who are not cab drivers.
I wonder if her husband, Charlie Brown's son, is in the military or what? I never heard him mentioned or called, when his mum was called to tell her about the stroke. The DIL needs a hand from him, if he's around, to look after his parents.
Charlie Brown will have made wonderful new memories with his grand son and his cafe and cake! May be sidelined from driving but not enriching everyone's life with his smile and love.
Peggy’s husband, I had a tear when I saw him look at her when they were wanting to wake her. As he was stroking her head he must have been thinking about when they met, when they were married…I could see his sadness. 😢
Zena is such a superhero for her family by taking both of those diagnoses in stride and still being able to be there for them and even with a little baby to take care of too! I hope that they are all doing well and at peace 🙏🏼❤️
I’m always amazed at how polite and compassionate the staff and patients are. After spending a few hours in the ER with my Dad, and the bluntness of the doctors, I would appreciate such a statement as he is very unwell, and would I like a cup of tea. The anxiety level would be greatly reduced.
As an EMT i can tell you that sometimes we may come across as "rude" when it is more urgency. when you realize your patient is not progressing but digressing, it's time to get serious. We are stern because we are trying to get a response from the patient. we aren't there to be their friend, we are there to save their lives.@@Barbarawr
@@BarbarawrHi, answering this after 5 months, you probably don’t remember your comment, yes and no, to the way he treated her, he was reacting to her slow response after the woke her up after putting her in a coma. Since she wasn’t responding to his commands, and not replying, we usually then put pressure on a spot where it’s pretty painful, and the patient will usually cry out in pain, something she didn’t do, so, that means that she is semiconscious, doesn’t react to pain, but doesn’t need help to breathe. I do agree that he was a bit insensitive by the way he was moving her head around, luckily she is semiconscious, and luckily if l was a relative and saw what he had done, l would have given him some words in ltaliano and being a nurse myself in a Hospital In California, in the A&E. Worked in a hospital in Stoke on Trent, Hanley for three years a loooong time ago. Don’t ever get sick if you are in America, first, have a very good insurance for everything. Pain relief, forget it, right away, you will be propped and prodding everywhere, even though we see that you have broken bones, injuries internally, we need to find out where the most serious injuries are, so we know what to treat first. It’s horrible listening to the pain there in, and we know that the longer they are in pain, in can effect the heart, because your blood pressure skyrockets when you are in a lot of pain. We have two Doctors l hate working with, two ice cold individuals who don’t have a clue what empathy is, and it’s like they enjoy flicking as much pain they can on most patients, and we have had our words in private and sadly, sometimes when other doctors and nurses are around, because they respect him to much and know how powerful he can be, but luckily in those situations, they have backed me up if l get a call into a certain office we don’t like to visit 🤣🤣, been their for 28 years, him, six years, so, they don’t want to lose me. I like watching this, the environment, it’s sooooo totally different, we deal mostly with shootings, stabbings, house fires, sadly rising, child abuse, leading to death. I know in England, knife crime is rising. This was a long reply to a short question, sorry about that. Do you live in England or America, just curious, don’t have to reply.
@Barbarawr Just a tad, occasionally the human body doesn't move or react in a helpful manner & a firmer hand may be needed. I dodnt feel the nurse was heavy handed, just firm.
I was sent for a CT scan to look for the cause of trigeminal neuralgia. The CT scan showed nothing. A year later I demanded to be sent for an MRI scan to look for the cause, and it showed what the cause was. I then had brain surgery. The MRI also showed that I had MS which I had suspected for along time. I'm glad that I demanded the MRI.
Zena is one in a million a daughter in law anyone would love to have. Not only does she have a baby she is there for her in laws. Be proud Zena please take care of yourself too. Peggy’s husband was delightful realistic and obviously they had discussed things together before this admission. Loved the twinkle in his eyes at the end.
Maybe I'm just an old woman, but I wouldn't want my husband to call his old girlfriend/lover to go to hospital with him. Call anyone, just not her. Looks inappropriate to me 😳
I think it depends on what the current partners agree on what is comfortable for them. As long as they agree on where the line is, that’s what matters.
I was thinking she would have to have a very understanding husband. I can’t imagine of all people to call that I would call my ex boyfriend. She seems to feel very empowered to introduce him to sex and feels that power over him is eternal. Just an opinion

Poor Peggy, I thought that was going to happen. It’s just too bad and that’s the sad story. We all grow old and die. If we’re lucky. I absolutely love the idea of the TAXI café!! Brilliant!! 🚕🚕🍩☕️
Charley's daughter-in-law has no idea what she's talking about. 😂 He's not missing part of his brain, it's just being bled into & isn't working right! Just bc she saw the dark area on his scan, she's assumed there is no brain there. Bleeding can destroy brain function, as can pressure if there's swelling. Hopefully the drs will catch & correct her assumption!
She did say that that's how the doctor put it, as in "in the scan, a part of it is missing, in other words, it's black instead of gray like it should be"
"Now we can't shut him up...he thought my dog was a horse..." I remember visiting my Great Gran, during the 'mad-cow' period in the UK, and one thing I will always remember was her watching the tv and exclaiming, "Oh, those poor mad horses!" It was one of the first things we noticed, in her mental decline. She passed at 97. Sadly, she was waiting for her telegram from the Queen, but never got it, because she was a less than three years short!
It's not even a current boyfriend; she's got a husband! I wonder if Ben left her bc of similar behavior with an earlier ex? Although, he's a bit shallow regarding his current girl, putting up with her for good sex. Sex is NOT everything & the sooner he learns that the better. I was in a 15 yr relationship & for the last 5 yrs, due to circumstances, there was no sex, but I didn't love her any less. A lot of our relationship had more to do with our personalities, not the physical. Was the sex good? Yes, very! But it wasn't what we built our relationship on.
Ben and Sally are ridiculous. Lol I feel for her husband 😂 Ben seemed so put together with a good head on his shoulders....until he was talking about how annoying the girl he slept with is. I guess i didn't realize men did that, tolerate women they don't necessarily like just for the sex. Not sure _why_ i didnt realize that lol
Damn people in the comments are really proving they don't trust their partners. You can still be friends with an ex people! Not everyone who talks to their ex/calls when they need help wants to get with them.
24:16 Govts and big institutions are waiting eagerly for Peggy's generation to die. Their plans such as bank closures, digital currency, and phone based payments are being prevented from rollout due to so many of the "previous generation" being alive. Charlie is a Black Cab Driver - That is really impressive. There's a lot of knowledge in his head.
Oh that daughter-in-law is an angel. We should all be so blessed to have in-laws we love so much.

Such a good baby. Such a good Mama to the baby. She is a commendable daughter too.
Yes, an amazing family. The baby is so cute too.
Props to Charlie for adapting to such a life changing event. Besides that, they didn't need to do Ben like that in the outro part xD
Just letting everyone know, a CT scan will not necessarily pick up everything. A MRI should look at the brain
Why do they opt for a CT when an MRI would image better? Speed?
With my extensive stays in hospitals over the years tell me that they MUST do a MRI.
