I never understood why people hated this kof, the gameplay was really fun and the art was really original and good imo (at least the Ps2 version) i know that the music is a downgrade compared to previous games but in general the ost is decent. Pd: I forgot to mention that nest bosses were really cool, difficult and the story was great

Wonder if the NESTS story was always intended to end with Loveable Igniz, and his weird colony drop/become a God thing. Or if that was Eolith's doing.... Man 2k1 was such a mess of a game, still.. it gave the world Tetsuo9999 and May Lee so it wasn't all bad I suppose.
The art work looked rather "realistic" to me. The music was kind of "meh". The voice work was also "meh, but decent". I really give a thumbs up for the NESTS peeps that showed up (Angel, Foxy, K999, and Kula). (AT LEAST 5/10)

El look de Athena en este KOF fue el peor, prácticamente la dejaron pelona y con un vestuario horrible xDD... Caso contrario, en KOF 98 se ve muy bonita
+Asael Estrada es cierto la versión arcade de 2001 las fotos en batalla se ven distorsionados y con narices muy feas como operadas, los colores de tablero amarillo son feos pero la parte de selección se ve muy bien esa si me gusta mucho se ve moderna y muy clara y las fotos nítidas y chidas no se por que no las pusieron igual en las miniaturas que salen con la barra de energía en combate. mis kof favoritos en aspectos artisticos son el 96, 99, 2000, 2002 y 2003.
As much as I wanted to like this game, the art, backgrounds, and music were ATROCIOUS. That race-track background in particular was an eye-sore...I've seriously seen better ones on the Sega Genesis back in the day. Everything about 2001 was a serious downgrade in quality from what it was before.
I must say that out of all of the K. O. F. games they made, this one is my least favorite. Around that time, SNK went out of business and SNK Playmore replaced them. I understand that the bankruptcy was a huge transition. Perhaps SNK thought it wasn't wise to leave a gap. The characters look promising, but I felt like the production was rushed, but there's a Freudian excuse. Don't get me wrong; SNK made a game with promise, and they would have had better quality music. The music turns me off.
the story is actually pretty cool. Especially the part where K' and Kula, sworn enemies had to unite to defeat Igniz, but yeah as far as balance, soundtracks, art design and gameplay it's really bad

It’s interesting how people say 2002 looks a lot better. 2002 is clearly a better game but the stages in that game are atrocious. Definitely prefer these over that one I don’t think they were completely horrible

uses Zero if u got a hack version entitled kof 2001 plus 2 and keep spamming one attackt that trick makes u finish the game using Zero and less than 1 credit

SNK Playmore didn't make a KOF game until 2003 and that was great. Eolith were the ones who made this one.
