So my Lippert Slide components came in last Wednesday (March 28-2024) So I finally managed to have some time to unpack the contents and double check everything. These slide components no longer arrive pre-assembles on a large pallet. They are shipped loose inside a long 6 inch diameter tube and must be assembled. Anyway, 2 of the plastic shoes already broke during assembly since the sharp burr on the aluminum rack caught the shoes during assembly. So I will have to order more shoes. These things are so cheaply made, Lippert should send a dozen shoes with these slides. I just finished double checking all the measurement and the distance between the 2 slide racks is off by 1 1/8 so I will have to contact Lippert Monday if they are open or Tuesday. I just had the same issue as you did in your video at the 2:30 minute mark.
PIA when wrong parts are delivered! People don’t care about “Customer Service” anymore. Attitude is “oh well” it’s not my problem. I think I learned a lot about the slide on my camper! Thank you!
Very accurate explanation of the repair of the slide system. You have helped me make repairs on my failed system. Luckily mine failed when I got home from my trip. Thanks a million!
I watched your video where you went thru the Schwintek slide components. You pointed out the tag with the Lippert build number that would tell them the parts they used. I knew I’d never find that number without taking it apart. So, I called the RV manufacturer and gave them my VIN. Lo and behold, they gave me that number along with the part # for the slide rails. They had none in stock and recommended I call Lippert. Lippert (Cory) was most helpful. First, we learned that the slide rail part number I’d been given by the RV manufacturer was not correct (my build used clear rails and this was for black ones). Ah, geez. Is the Lippert build number correct? Cory asked questions and I described what I saw, he figured that number was a fair bet, so I placed my order. A while later with the slide only out far enough that I could crawl through to see what I was facing there looking at me was that sticker! With the same number! (I apologize for being so wordy. I’ve watched all your Schwintek videos in the last two days.) Where am I going with this? Instead of doing all the measuring you did, why didn’t you look for that sticker? I ask that, of course, not knowing if I’ll get the right parts even with that number.
I had the similar situation on my slide out one side of the slide the ceramic roller came off and the other side the ceramic wheel separated itself from the roller block. You are dealing with many issues that I have with my slide out in this video it’s definitely giving me the confidence to try and repair it myself again. Thank you so much for doing this two part video you do a great job going through the process.
@@TheMinnow101 I'll be going to the Tampa RV show and, no doubt, Lippert will be there. I'll take the opportunity to tell them that their quality is below standard even for the RV world. There are other UA-cam videos that show the lack of quality in Lippert products.
Lippert should be held accountable for their garbage products and services. Everyone of these bigger slides fail, sign me up if anyone wants to file a lawsuit. Honestly all of this is a bandaid that will need repaired again, show a video of what is a replacement slide mechanism that will last, thanks.
Thank you for watching! To watch part one, go to: ua-cam.com/video/QH9ODDjQ-js/v-deo.html. What other video ideas do you have for us? Post in the comments below!
Great video, 2013 Thor Palazzo, same issues...after a year in and out of the shop under extended warranty and threat of legal action, they put rollers with plates under the slide...
On my bunkhouse slide out I’m finding the slide out doesn’t come out even have to retract it back and forth to get it out even and when I do retract it back in I find that the slide doesn’t compress the rubber gasket around the slide out on the Rv any ideas what I can do to resolve these two issues I’m having.Thank you once again for such a detailed video on how to work on these Schwintek slide outs they are definitely helping many of us to work on our own Rv units. 👍
Looking through lippert's product guide, it looks like the "fins" he talks about are either the standard guide blocks or the inverted versions, in case anyone has issues with getting the right guide blocks
A view I know well... we are out at Washington Lavender Farm every year for Lavender Fest. Judging by Darren's verbage this is around the Finn Hall Rd area (which is were this Lavender Far is) Useful info too, as I need to overhaul a friends Schwintek this winter
Great video. I've just purchased a brand new Jayco trailer that I thought was going to come with a Schwintec slide system but came with a Norco Exact slide system. This system is cable driven but has two motors one in each column. Do you have any video's on them and how do you find that system? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you I been looking for an video on haw to remove the H column the slide out mine needs it BAD. I have to push it out and push it back in. Will the new motor come with the new H column?
So I have a 2021 wildwood and our slide seems to be out about two inches on the bottom when closed. I guess the bottom gear jumped the track? Do I have to completely disassemble the system like you did in order to realign the top and bottom?
Thanks again for such great video content,I feel more confident in handling issues with my rev, question... how was the issue resolved with you receiving the wrong parts?
Excellent work on this 2 part video! My schwintek slide is 4’ by 12’ and it failed last October after 10 years in service! Ceramic wheel on the bottom gone, 4 teeth missing out of the gear and eating up the slide rail. Ordered replacement from Lippert and the only difference is the slide rails are 1” shorter which should not be a problem. My repair guy is not enthusiastic about taking on the job. I now believe I can take it on after watching your 2 part videos. I’m thinking that getting the H column aligned and back in the right place is probably going to take the most time. Any outtakes where you did that part and have any suggestions? The new gibs look like they are a big improvement. They snap into the block. Thanks again!
As a follow up question. I now have everything level and have installed the new rails and run in the new block, drive shaft, and keeper assembly on the float side, however at the top, the keeper when aligned with the wall stands off the back of the block by almost 1/2” reducing the contact between the gib and the block. Makes sense that there be some play in the system however is this normal? Or is my room racked and I should shim the rail to increase the contact if the gib and block. The bottom gib if fully engaged with the block? Thanks Darren!
Hi. We have a 2016 grand design 5th wheel Schwintek bedroom slide was running out and a loud pop and how it will not move. took the motors out and still will not move. how can i get it out? I think i need to rebuild this system. not the first time having problems with this system HELP Please thanks been watching your videos they are great
FIRST. GREAT VIDEO ON LIPPERT SCHWINTEK SYSTEM REPLACEMENT. I DO HAVE A QUESTION. DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE LIPPERT SYSTEM TO REPLACE THE SUBFLOOR ON THE SLIDE OUT. ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE HELPFUL THANKS DAVID
Typically no, however the entire weight of the schwintech slide room is resting on the rollers underneath that floor. So you're going to need to figure out how to support the room once you take the subfloor out. And when you rebuild it, you need to make sure that the weight remains on that floor on the rollers.
Why does loppers make garbage in regards to slide out mechanism’s? I’ve got them on my 2021 gulfstream conquest. What’s wrong with the older style slide mech’s? Don’t fix what’s not broke. I keep mine clean and use dry spray silicone and sync them always. And pray.
My 2018 Grand design had a double failure, both slides in Oct 2022, on our second trip after purchasing it used. After months of waiting, the wrong parts showed up, then another 8-10 months and finally the right parts showed up and my mobile guy installed all four in 4 hours. that was yesterday April 11, 2024. Tomorrow i'm looking to see if Grand Design left off the rollers.
I am having to replace my slide out floor on a Forest River Salem Lite, 23 footer. I think why it rotted is the top is seating before the bottom and leaving about a 1/2” gap at the bottom. It’s not out of sync side to side but top to bottom on both sides. Is this possible and could it be because of the soft/rotted floor? The slider is on 3 rollers that ride on three 2x6 pieces of wood that are really soft. I hope I don’t have to do this r and r of the mechanisms but can now do it because of the video, thank you.
Great video we have an entegra odyssey with that exact set up. I was wandering what those rollers were for and now I know. Do you travel to work on rvs like Everett area? Keep up the great content
Hi, I’m having issues with the slide as well. I recently noticed the shaft is shot and the tracks are damaged. Where can I get these parts from? After watching your video I feel I can do this myself.
Thank you for your informative videos, now it would appear I have a problem. We own a new 2015 “Tracer” made by prime time. There is a problem with the slide out. Located on the underside of the trailer there is rubber seal that rests up against the underside length of the floor. For some reason when we retract the slide out to the in position it drags a portion of the rubber seal into the trailer itself. There are rollers located immediately at the entrance, and the rubber gets caught on the rollers and prevents the slide from moving inward. In other words the rubber seal gets caught on the rollers And prevents the slide from moving. Do you have a fix for this that I could maybe attempt on my own. Thank you very much in advance for any help. You may be able to offer me. I do have a couple of solutions, but would like to ask an expert first. Again, thank you
I have a 2011 Avanti. It has 4 out board rollers they are 7" x 1.5" about 48 " centers. There ere 4 inward rollers which are much smaller then the outer. The MH was just in a shop to repair leak at slide seal. They also replaced rear motor I don't believe that motor. was bad. The slide still leaks and the room still doesn't close properly. Now I have taken on the task of fixing this myself. I learned a lot from your videos. Trying to figure out how to add more rollers and repair H column to fit flush in the rear. The H column is flush on top and runs out about 3/16" on bottom maybe you can comment on a fix. Could it have anything to do with the s on those gears.
Don't know if you can help me, but I have a Lippert slide on my 2020 Jayco. My slide keeps getting stuck The control box has been replaced the wiring harness is new and it has new motors. I can do the over ride and it works fine, but it still has issues.
hello I am now watching (subscribe) to your channel! My rv slide extends out partially on one side, while the other side doesn't move at all!😢 The mobile RV Technician just left and we couldn't get the slide to move out. The motor makes a sound like its working but there's no visible activity from it. We can't get to the motor to release the screw so we can lift up the motor because the slide is pressed up against the camper (on the outside)! Please help!!
We've tried several vendors but lately we've had tremendous success with the guys here. coolfunrv.com/ You can let him know that you were referred to them by My RV Works!
Good on you, sir! what a mess. That should never have left the factory. A dealer pre-inspection should have caught it. What a joke. This video series only re-enforces my position of NEVER owning another RV with a slide, ever.
What's can you do when you cannot get to the area you need to lubricate on the inside of the RV because the slide is to close to wall and the trim around the slide is in the way?
Darren, I have heard that the newer Schwintek slide mechanism on my travel trailer have nylon gears and no longer require lubrication and should not be lubricated. Can you comment, Thanks!
I saw another video that was missing the side room rollers, that person bought 5 rollers to add to the side room. It’s a shame that the manufacturers not finishing the sides correctly.
I have lippert schwintek in wall slide out.. I have a bad motor.. the slide is all the way in, how do you get to the screw on the outside to release the motor if the slide is all the way in? I can not find anybody who addresses that issue
Sometimes the only thing you can do is pry the motor up from the inside and overcome that set screw on the outside. A long flat screwdriver can work itself between the motor and the bearing block. That set screw is run through an aluminum Extrusion so it will deform that thread on the outside. When you put a new screw in I usually tap that to a larger size. Before you do that though, if it's not mechanically binded up, disconnect both motor wires from the control module and get a couple big guys to try to push that room out. I have also used a bottle jack to do it by myself. It will go but it takes a lot of effort.
I wish there was some way lippert could be notified the installation was incorrect so the lippert can threaten not to supply the coach manufacturer with parts until they rectify their engineering.
Awesome video. I feel better with my schwintek slide now. It's 21 feet long and I have always been concerned what to do if it ever acts up. I do carry a spare motor in the MH. I'm curious what would I do if say for instance the motors are out and I can't get to the side of the motor that has the screw in it holding it in place. I assume I need to remove the motor to have any chance at pushing the slide in or out? If I cut power to the motor from the fuse panel will that disengage it and allow me to manually push the slide in or out or does the motor have to be removed to allow the slide to move manually? Sorry for the long question :)
Would have to remove the slide from the RV. Rabitt out the floor to insert the rollers. Reinstall the slide out. Going by the length of that slide out, yeah that would be a big job.
probably depends on what the inside of the coach looks like under the slide. if it's a flush-floor room, not likely. even if it could, it would be at the factory for half a year and the owners would be stuck with a huge battle getting manufacturer to foot the bill. probably not worth the effort or cost. I would have a reputable tech on speed dial and have the slide inspected every year. I would operate the slide the least amount of times.
What's up with Schwintech & the manufacturers of the RV’s? They know their product is garbage and costing rv owners millions in repairs yet manufacturers still keep using them.
Does the number of views indicate that over 11,000 RVers are having problems with their Schwintek systems? I've just learned of Vroom Slide Systems from Tuscon, AZ. Is this newbie an improvement?
The bearing block could have been reused, file the area flat, drill and tap a hole in the centre, when you put your ceramic wheel on you could use a small washer and loctite the screw in place to secure it.
My brother in law has been wrangling with the slide on his Fkeetwood Bounder for years. I suspect that's why it was sold. Repair shops in the Minneapolis area can't fix it. They are pikers when compared to this artisan. Don't know if can be fixed without replacement by someone who isn't a hack. Not looking good. Junk!
The problem is everyone accepts the incompetence of Lippert and or the RV builder and no one does anything. Everyone watching this should refuse to buy a Thor RV and I guarantee that Thor would make Lippert fix stuff correctly. No one does it though mediocracy is accepted.

I assume I need to remove the motor to have any chance at pushing the slide in or out? If I cut power to the motor from the fuse panel will that disengage it and allow me to manually push the slide in or out or does the motor have to be removed to allow the slide to move manually? Sorry for the long question :)
Darren what color is + and - on the harness? i like to build a tester for rescue.
The red and black run the motor. All the other colors are for the encoder. You can ignore the other colors for your harness purposes
@@MyRVWorks thanks buddy! harness is built.
Is there away to add rollers to that room. Or is not feasible?
Would have to remove the slide from the RV. Rabitt out the floor to insert the rollers. Reinstall the slide out. Going by the length of that slide out, yeah that would be a big job.
probably depends on what the inside of the coach looks like under the slide. if it's a flush-floor room, not likely. even if it could, it would be at the factory for half a year and the owners would be stuck with a huge battle getting manufacturer to foot the bill. probably not worth the effort or cost. I would have a reputable tech on speed dial and have the slide inspected every year. I would operate the slide the least amount of times.
Lippert... the first word in RV problems. LCI is a joke.
It’s disheartening The lack of quality in RVs.
What's up with Schwintech & the manufacturers of the RV’s? They know their product is garbage and costing rv owners millions in repairs yet manufacturers still keep using them.
Big question….how can the owner be expected pay for all of the swapping of parts that you have to deal with.
I could see if this was your own rig…
This was for an extended warranty claim. The extended warranty gave us the okay to proceed with this type of repair.
Mission Impossible
Does the number of views indicate that over 11,000 RVers are having problems with their Schwintek systems? I've just learned of Vroom Slide Systems from Tuscon, AZ. Is this newbie an improvement?
Yes
The bearing block could have been reused, file the area flat, drill and tap a hole in the centre, when you put your ceramic wheel on you could use a small washer and loctite the screw in place to secure it.
I take it the owner doesn't want you to install the rollers to the rv.
there is no service or warranty anymore its the same on lippert frames cracking try and get warranty on one of them
My brother in law has been wrangling with the slide on his Fkeetwood Bounder for years.
This could have been 20 minute video if you would stop REPEATING yourself and nobody really cares about the view.
Nobody does their job and nobody gives a shit anymore.
you been thor arised. will never ever buy another Thor product ever!!!!!!!
