There has been a multi decade effort to eradicate the Belarusian language to the point that now only 17.5% of Belarusians speak their own native language. The same was true for many languages in Soviet republics, native languages were banned and only Russian was taught in schools. Ukrainians were more successful in keeping their language alive as 60% of Ukrainians spoke daily as of February 24th 2022. Now the number of Ukrainians speaking their native language is growing exponentially as people don’t like speaking the language of the people attacking and killing them.
@@freyjasvansdottir9904 Man, Soviet Union had 300 official languages. There is no such thing as evil soviets banning local languages. If this was true, Soviet Union wouldn't exists for 69 years, no one would tolerate the banning of its language.

@@nonnegative7063 literally every single Belarusian of understands it and uses it... so it really doesn't matter. And also they're the most un-patriotic people lol. Why are most Belarusians not even speaking Belarusian???
Edit : no "of" in my first sentence.
Because the language is being eliminated consciously and radically @@danieln9226
