You don't really have to worry about the backyard being messy. I don't know about English people, but here are a lot of people who don't see themselves as gardeners. I have seen a lot of neat gardens in your videos but actually the one here is on a level you see here a lot, quite some are even worse but still don't feel so bad. So this one's absolutely fine.
I really like that you are so diligent in tackling black spot :) The gravel is fine as well. Things don't have to be even to look tidy. Also it really suits these kind of slabs.

It looked beautiful by the time you finished with it so much better than I imagined it would. I am sure the customer is very happy with it and yes I think flowers would look lovely in that area for her 😊

That is a deliberately "irregular" garden, with a slant towards a more natural look. I like that your paving cleaning is adding back walking safety and some needed brightening. The grit seems to be well-suited to this yard. Enjoying your determination to get rid of the Black Spot. The area around the old pond is already becoming so clean that it is quite cheery. This became an attractive Renewal, it will look very nice with the pond area planted in flowers.

I agree with the others who say that was a true transformation. And while the pointing might have “looked prettier”, I think the gravel grit (?) is much better since it makes the hardscape permeable. The water can clear off the pavers and get down to the aquifer.

Have you considered getting an exo-brace for pointing jobs? They're made for gardening, but it should work a treat for pointing as well; there's one you strap onto your lower leg, can walk smoothly in, and it's designed to become a seat for you to kneel on, to take the bulk of the stress off your back and knees. They're not expensive, either. I only ask because I know you've spoken of how much pointing jobs hurt, and I'd prefer you to not be in pain~
Wonderful job; the stonework looks immeasurably better! And maybe it might have been a _little bit_ too much suds? But hey, the black spot is GONE. Not your fault with your Yorkstone Nemesis~

Great job Nick. You’re a man that takes pride in his work. Hard to come by these days. Question, what type of broom head do you use when applying the grit? Was that just a standard dust brush or something special for applying the grit? Best to you from the US.

  • @jimbosun2

I must admit I was sceptical at the beginning about grit but actually this is one of my favourite uploads. You’ve totally nailed that. It looks like it’s just been built. That’s real affordable options for totally transforming a tired patio. I’m not usually stunned for words specially four letter ones but bro you nailed it.
I think if we set you up with a old patio with edges of slabs sticking vertically up and the rest buried 3 feet in the ground you’d wave the mighty briggs and Stratton over it and bam job done.
So relaxed now me young china😎 cheers Nick🤜

So many people are way too judgmental these days, Nick. They think that their opinions are the only ones that matter and that THEIR gardens would NEVER be that bad, but I bet they'd be extremely ticked off if anyone didn't like theirs! Too many people have become armchair 'experts' and think they know it all. Well, that's just what they are - know-alls. Just like Mr You Don't Want To Do It Like That, à la Harry Enfield.

Easiest way to deal with excess soap suds… sprinkle a little fine salt on the suds and they will dissolve away. Salt breaks the bubble surface tension and they pop.
I once had a kitchen hand who squirted a heap of normal dishwashing liquid in the commercial dishwasher… we were hip deep in suds like a 90’s foam rave party 😂😂😂
