Yarmouth, Nova Scotia is a must-see for old house enthusiasts. The first two heritage homes (00:01) reopened as tourist accommodations (Yarmouth Tower House and The Golden Bamboo B&B). Worth staying over to explore inside. 😁
This is a fantastic video. Would you happen to know if there are any photos of the Bowman Corning home on 51 Vancouver St. I have only found one with Mr. Corning standing in front of the property just after it was built. Since parts of the house have been removed I wanted to see what it may have looked like through out the years. It is very sad to see it's current condition I must say.
I had no idea Capt Bowman Corning owned that house on Vancouver St. I know he built my old house on 106 Brunswick St in 1872 which is in the video. I grew up in that house from 1990-2003. There is a painting of him in the Museum.
@@novascotianexplorer9154 I meant more of the houses throughout Yarmouth. Been a few years since I lived in Yarmouth, it was lovely to see many familiar homes.

@@novascotianexplorer9154 Exactly!! My dad moved my mom and I to the west coast in 81, you can ski in the morning golf in the afternoon!! It’s amazing 😻 in 82 I stayed in Vancouver for a week it change my life! It’s not cheap but fabulous!! I still have friends who have never traveled outside of Yarmouth!
@@Ponzuu28 Yes, small towns are like that. I have traveled most of the world now, but have never been to BC yet, Baniff was the closet I've gotten. BC sounds nice, but Florida is closer to me and much warm so I moved there instead :) hope you get to at least visit Yarmouth again at some point.
I love the colours and multi layered trims. I was lucky enough to live in Yarmouth in one of these homes in the late 50s and 60s. It could use Michael's magic these days.
Yarmouth and Lunenburg are my favourite places to look at houses :) Old houses are an obsession of mine, and I especially love when they go up for sale because it’s our chance to see the inside :) I’m from the Valley, so we don’t have as many, but there’s still some beautiful homes!
The purple one on Forest St is my parents home, and I got married in that beautiful brick Anglican Church. I'd move down in a heartbeat if we could afford any of them.
The Huntington house (seniors home) did belong to the Allen family. My Dad grew up there. Love having the opportunity to visit Yarmouth through your eyes. Longing for the day that Covid slinks away so I can come home.
These are lovely houses, however these are not Yarmouth’s mansions. These homes were built for the upper middle class. The real mansions/estates are all gone except for one on Vancouver street. Some examples, Fir Banks on Vancouver street, Brookside on parade street.
Very beautiful 🤩
At 4:19, I believe you meant to say: “Victorian Eclectic” style, not “Victorian Electric” style.
Definitely going to check these houses out next time I’m in Yarmouth. Thanks very good info!
They are beautiful!

Nice, I grew up on Brunswick St.
Gorgeous homes.

Great video, you presented the homes well and great information on the homes and town. Beautiful thanks. ☺️
In yarmouth we preety much call them captains homes...great job!!
Yes, I grew up in a Captain's house built in 1872, beautiful homes.
Thank you. WOuld love to see more.

I lived on forrest street in a group home the number of the house was 62
I walk by most of these houses every day. They are all around my street a few minutes away walking
Never let a strait man choose paint colours. The brown and blue is hideous.
hahah good one.
Yarmouth is beautiful! I hope to visit when the Corona virus is under control. Thanks for the tour!
I'm happy that you liked it. Hope you make it down to Yarmouth someday.
Lived on Forest 🌳 street in the 60’s can still remember being a three year old in that beautiful house, owner was Miss Scott it was yellow I think 🤔
Would you ever move back to Yarmouth?
@@novascotianexplorer9154 no
@@Ponzuu28 That was a to the point answer! :) It's a very nice town to visit, not so great living here as a young professional.

I'm posting a tour of Michael's home this week. What an amazing job they did!
Yarmouth is a lovely town. Kings transit must extend the bus link to Yarmouth.
I've been saying that for years!

Me too! This summer I would like to film the valley a little more. Some really nice spots there to film.

Wow that's awesome that it's your parent's place. Let them know it's beautiful!!
I learned of Yarmouth NS because of the second house on Zillow
It seems to be a lovely place
Yeah it has a lot of good points to it. :)
I'm curious who the contractors that built these were. There is a lot of strong styling on them.
We have watched yarmouth improve over the last 10 or so years. We summer in yarmouth winter home is in new Hampshire.
you make us want to move there
Well, why not? You can always buy a vacation home.
The first two are my ancestors homes. Lovitt/Guess
Lovitt was a and is a big name in this town!

We lived corner of Queen & Forbes until it burned down.
What is Michael's last name?

Not true. I lived at 25 Collins St. It was built in 1885 by a sea captain, last name was Murphy, for his son.
Amazing. You should really use a wind shield on your mic. And keep the mic close to your face when talking. Thanks for this video.
now sadly, Yarmouth has become the drug and murder capitol of nova scotia
Yes, Yarmouth is a great place to visit and a horrible place to live.
