Well, Mitchell was a liar, along with a rapist, a thug, and just an all-around piece of sh1t, so whatever he says I would take with a grain of salt. Meanwhile, big man Knight started the whole thing, and then waited until the ump was holding Davis before throwing a punch, so he fits firmly into the p@ssy group.

The game got weirder. With Ray Knight and Kevin Mitchell ejected for fighting and Darryl Strawberry ejected earlier for arguing balls and strikes, the Mets put Gary Carter at third, Ed Hearn at catcher, and had pitchers Roger McDowell and Jesse Orosco rotate between left field, pitcher, and right field. Yes, that is allowed. Lenny Dykstra in center had to cover the whole outfield. But the Mets won.

Well, Orosco and McDowell weren't in the outfield at the same time. One of them was pitching, the other was in RF or LF (McDowell played both RF and LF, Orosco played only RF). Mookie Wilson was the other outfielder, alternating between RF and LF, so Dykstra didn't have to cover everything. And in fact, Orosco had a putout in RF.

This is the game where George Foster sat in the dugout during the brawl...when asked afterwards by the press why he didn’t join his teammates, he remarked, “it would be bad for the young fans to see me fight out there”. translation:...”Johnson benched me for Kevin Mitchell so screw them”...two days later, Foster was waived...

Yep. Or he didn't want to fight his old team. Or both. But after being waived he said it was because of race, blaming Davey. Which made zero sense he was replaced with Mitchell. The Mets still gave him a WS ring I believe. Shouldn't have though.

I'm a huge NY Mets fan, and love Ray Knight's demeanor, hustle & attitude as a player but I'm sorry, Knight was totally in the wrong on this one. Eric Davis is the baserunner and has every right to occupy the bag in the most efficient, reasonable manner possible in order to prevent himself from getting tagged out, which he did. Davis was in no way being overly aggressive in trying to keep his balance and not lose his position on the bag, and it was knight who then tried to overly posture his stance and needlessly bumping Davis once he got his balance occupying 3rd base.
