I hate to nit pick BUT that is not a restoration. Where are the black out lights? What's. with the roll bars? Restored would be back to original, military, spec and that's not
An M38 is a flat fender. Like the old WWII jeeps. It was based off of the CJ3A. The Army wasn't impressed. They felt it was under powered. Willys then came up with the M38A1 and it's civilian counterpart, the Willys CJ5. When Kaiser bought out Willys they changed the name to the Jeep CJ5.

The trans in a M38A1 would have been a 3sp not a 4sp, I bought mine from Dover DE, Air Force Base in 1968 and sold it in 1974.
