    Your tutorials are hands down the best I’ve ever seen for ANY flow art. I’ve followed hoop and staff tutorials, and now flow darts, and the way you explain things, trace things, move the camera around is soo helpful.

    Thanks so much for this! As a big guy I've never been very graceful...so...why did i pick up rope dart? Well i went down a rabbit hole of martial arts whips and then moved on to other items and this looks so fun and fluid. Your videos have been amazing. You make it look amazing, easy and so fluid. Thanks again.

    I'm slowly working my way up your tutorial playlist! Thank you so much for putting together such amazing tutorials! I hit a small snag here since I found I wasn't actually gathering any slack with it. I rewatched the portion around 4:25 which helped, but in the heat of the moment I'm still having difficulty remembering the second pull with the anchor hand in time.

    Thank you for explaining it so well! I feel like I completely understood everything, and I really appreciated the tips at the end. I knew how to do this move before watching this but now I feel like I will execute it more gracefully and with more style now. Keep the tutorials coming please!

    Im a Gung-fu instructor and your breakdown was nice. Your understanding of catching slack with the elbo.. then re-directing it, is, well, SiFu like.
    Your humility is also impressive.. suggesting the observation of other styles of RD instructors. You have truly made it your own. Very cool!

    First off let me say THANK YOU for all your amazing tutorials!! I'm just starting out and was wondering if you had any videos on how you do the simple spins with the dart in front/behind you when you transition the way you are standing at the end of the sequence you taught in this vid? Thank you again, you rock!

    Subscribed! I managed not to break anything in my cramped living room learning this move. I'd say that's a success :D
    I've been learning poi and fire fans for a while. And it wasn't until a week ago that I really got in flow with (just one!) poi in front of a mirror, dancing the HELL out of it. It made me realise I had to try the rope dart :)
    My dance background is tribal fusion bellydance and flamenco and I think they could connect really well with this prop.
    Questions: Do you ever get that itchy urge to do everything on your non dominant side as well? :)))
    Was the rope dart your first fire prop or did you start with something else?
    Thank you for the tutorials, you are one awesome badass lady!

      Tinkara Tribal fusion belly dance and flamenco? DROOL. That would come in handy for sureee.
      I use my non dominant hand for horizontal moves mainly! Can’t think of another time to use it by itself. I think you subconsciously want to wield your dart with different hands cause it feels like you are balancing yourself out haha. Or maybe cause of your poi background. I started with hoop!

    Need to brave the cold to practice more now....just when I was getting lazy because of snow lol! Yay living in South Dakota!
    I did have a question about the dance side of this. What style of dance do you think would complement rope dart? Im not from a dancer background and I have no idea how to move gracefully so I was wondering if trying to find some dance lessons would help at all but I didnt know where to start.

      Ashley Bergstrom a great question that I have asked myself many times. I think I get inspiration from ballet and I have seen a few contemporary and hip hop moves that could be adapted to include a rope dart. I don’t think it’s as much about picking one specific style of dance, but rather picking a move that can accommodate a rope dart in it. :)

    what's that wrap you do after the routine with the neck spin, foot shot, and elbow spin? I've seen it with poi-ers. it's a bent elbow, under armpit behind your back spin transitioning to a bent elbow over-the-shoulder back spin. anyone know? thanks!!

    Remember Gogo using rope dart in Kill Bill. She was doing elbow spins on both hand at the beginning of the fight. She spins from right hand to left in a wheel plane position and then repeat. So it looks like figure 8. Can you tell me what is this move? It seems like a basic move. Maybe you have tutorial.

    • @FlowMayhem
      @FlowMayhem  3 роки тому

      Hey! That move is super cool. I made a note to see if I can make a tutorial for it :) not sure yet if it’s my style but I think it could be cool!

      @FlowMayhem  5 років тому +1

      Xíren Seo Hahahah my elbows have never been the same! Seriously though, it’s crazy how our bodies get used to getting batterer around. I used to have bruises all over my arms and quite a few on my legs. Now, my body just doesn’t bruise as easily as it used it. It way more resilient. Magic! I have hear this happens to aerialists as well

    • @xirensixseo

      i received training in qi gong so i started watching shaolin monks train and i copied their body conditioning, i wonder if thats how your body got used to bruising, yet you didnt go through any of the training i did :o
