I like Halstead's newfound maturity in dealing with patients/families. He's calmer in Season 7, learned some harsh lessons over his years, he's less impulsive, more willing to listen to what his patients want rather than fiercly imposing what he thinks is best. Perfect tone struck here. He pitched his case for more chemo, but then relented and allowed the parents to do what they believed was best for their daughter. That's new behavior for him. He's grown into himself and is becoming more comfortable in his own skin.
Now, if he can just apply that same maturation to his personal life ...

I understand where Will is coming from. But he has to learn to respect patients wishes, even when they don’t make sense to him. His mother died of cancer. That doesn’t give him the know all to every other cancer patients care. He may have asked the docs to try and revive her, but some patients are just tired of fighting, tired of being tired. And the pokes and prods but I understand that in a way hes probably still trying to save his mom.

Several of the doctors do this on the show to an absurd degree. There are several patients over the course of the series who decide for varying reason that they don’t want to seek or continue treatment. The doctors, Halstead among them, react like the patients are insane.

It blows my mind that we’re still doing chemotherapy when Targeted Cancer Therapy exists. It’s much more effective and doesn’t involve RADIATION that destroys the body with the cancer

Not if they are a minor or are considered unfit to make their own choices (mental illness). Besides, even the girl knows she's a goner; chemo will only buy them more time. It's better to let her spend what's left of her life surrounded by her loved ones.
