All guitar sounds on this video came straight from the ISP Technologies Michael Sweet Theta Pro DSP via the speaker-emulated Direct Outputs. No additional EQ or effects were used.
Michael Sweet of Stryper has inspired fans the world over with his holy hair-metal tones: his tight, controlled chug; his smooth, sailing leads; and his tasteful bouquet of stereo effects. Now you can cop Michael's exact sound with the ISP Technologies Michael Sweet Theta Pro DSP guitar preamp/pedal. When we say exact, we mean it - this is the very same box Michael uses out on the road with Stryper. It ships with 11 of his personal presets and includes several enhancements over the original Theta Pro DSP. These include a 3-band parametric EQ, post-distortion bass and treble to smooth and sculpt dirt, a tuner, and a totally realistic rotary speaker effect.
I HAVE OWNED LINE6,BOSS,ETC. AND THIS THING GETS THE TONES THAT I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR. FINALLY!!!!!
Hello, does it really have the real stryper tones or is it just a marketing strategy, how do I get to the dtune? I don't explain it in the video. If you can answer me, I would appreciate it because I am seriously thinking about buying it.
I'm a Stryper fan and I don't want anybody to think I'm trying to take a shot at them or Michael. But sometimes my sense of humor is a little dark. Nick, it would've been hilarious if you had played "Night of the Vampire" on that unit. No shots at Michael, Reaper or Stryper, just thought it would be funny. I love listening to both Michael and Nick play. I think it's GREAT that a player like Michael has finally got some recognition and gear with his name on it.
GRIM REAPER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hell yeah
This is an extremely underrated unit, if you use it right you'll see it's worth the price.
To get the most out of it. you're gonna need to know how to use the two EQ stages effectively, and use it like a rack preamp that sits on the floor into a tube power amp and guitar cabs; and don't forget to turn the cab sims off on the stage outs. It does a lot more than just the '80s.
I usually run my stage out into an ISP Stealth Pro amp (2 x 80W, 180W bridged) solid state amp into a Mesa Compact 2x12, and main outs to PA with the cab sim on (greenback 4x12) which sounds very good for a small rig.
Then I tried the stage outs into my Engl E850/100 power amp into one Engl PRO E212VHB cab pers side. It's glorious! And takes this to a whole other level IMO
Ehhh don't sound great. I'll stick with my Ampero and Catalyst although those cleans sound badass
Instant 80s Really sounds great Thanks Nick great demo
Holy Crap, Nick is working for Sweetwater! Finally a reviewer I am interested in watching with Sweetwater! No offense to the others that make videos of course. I didn't know he left Marshall, and am a big Grim Reaper fan! Awesome!
🤘
I like that "212 Sweet Wet & Wild" preset! It's like super stereo, it just opens right up through my studio computer monitor speakers!
Good but expensive...
A little disappointed. Every model/patch sounds like Michael's...........?
No, only a few. There are a wide range of presets, plus you can make your own as well.
Second Comment actually, this really is a refreshing departure from the previous demo formats. Makes me wish that I got the job with Sweetwater when I went there 7 years ago. It is all good though. I think this unit sounds pretty good, the difficult part is that in the price range you have that Juggernaut AX-8 to compete with. I like this unit tho, and good demo.
Great review , I loved it, but it didn't explain how to get to the d tune function.😢
This sounds really great!!!! I need one!!!
The Boston setting and perfect 80s lush chorus tones have really made this unit special! I want one bad! Really covers a lot of territory and sounds amazing!
😎👍
Preamp distortion tone is on point! Among the best I've heard for digital unit. Just wish they has USB for firmware updates.
Rick Morrow when it’s perfect you don’t need updates ;)
These cleans are wicked!!
Mine arrives tomorrow yay
How do you like it?
too expensive
I still listen to GRIM REAPER, and I love it! I met you at the Marshall 30th anniversary you and Jim. You are a genuine super nice guy. Super sad some a-hole sued your band and tied you up with legal nonsense and didn't allow you to enjoy the hay day of metal and make the money you all deserved .
Buck is a great guy, too! I was surprised to get a call directly from him when I called ISP and left a message with some questions on their Hum Extractor.
I ordered one today and not for Michael’s settings. The tuner and drop tune feature were worth the $20 extra
WhiteSnake 87 tone in 3 secondsss ... ? ! ! ! .... Too bad .... :-(
I heard the justice tone briefly. Not really enough to make a decision. Can anyone confirm that this unit can get the chug-chug Pantera type tones and still sound tight not fizzy?
Nice demo. Love to see someone play riffs etc., that are Appropriate to the presets... Really like your ending solo 7:30 on... And by the way, I happen to Really like that "80's "Atrocity" \m/ \m/... Keep up the good work, Respect, Marc
Need to find good backing tracks like this.
Has anyone played this through a guitar cabinet? How's it compare toa tube head?
I am a fan but??? My God 1250$-1400$ that makes it tough on a working guitar slinger
LAGRANGE SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE ZZ TOP!
Against the law tone preset ?
I was thinking something like $499 to $650..... But $1,340.00 WOW!
The price is absurd, especially relative to the competition at that price point.
Nick rocks hard!
Badass unit
i saw the 333 ;)
Wow! some good sounds here.
Show D+
Nick's reviews are always great!
Very good sound. I love it.
Got me this a couple of weeks ago. Sounds great, but there is one thing I don`t understand. Can anyone from ISP, or someone else for that matter, tell me why the "drop d, drop c and drop b" don`t drop. The tuning on these sound stays the same. They just change the amount of distortion used. Hmmm...anyone? What I am missing here? A bit lost here...
i'm with you on that. mine does the same thing. frustrating cause that's half the reason I purchased this unit. I really wish I had the time to figure out the pitch shift but I was just hoping to tweak the preset sound for the drop tunings and be on my way. lets hope someone can show us the way. isp?
It wasn`t just me, then. That`s some kind of comfort, anyway. I agree. Could someone from ISP guide us through the solution to this.
Hey guys... I helped create those particular patches with Buck (the owner)... they are meant to be for drop tuned guitars... the idea was to lower the gain a bit from a typical high gain so you could get the articulation with 7, 8, or 9 string guitars... if you want to drop the actual pitch with a six string, just set the pitch shift to the appropriate number of cents/semitones, and then remove the original signal...
McLeanAB88 Thanks for your reply👍
@@61174eg1 hi can u please tell me how to get to the drop tuning like in the video note i use translator google
Sounds good
How this sounds with a high gain amp?
so .. the different between ISP Technologies MS Theta Pro DSP Michael Sweet and the original red one is only the presets?...
Boy Aditya The MS has a tuner, an extra eq stage, a pitch shifter and my presets.
Michael Sweet thank you Micheal
The regular red Pro has a tuner as well now, with a firmware update... I can confirm as I own one.
@@michaelsweet8158 Nice when the guy it's named after answers your question. Kudos to you Michael ! Great unit !!!
@@michaelsweet8158 how I get to the pitch shifter on the msx as the video is showing
