These sign work great... I had them printed and laminated last year, and my students loved jumping and trying to reach the "WOW" sign. Once a while one or another student would come and reach for the need more effort. On that cases, I knew that was because few of them got a timeout, but it was great also to have some feedback about the activities I was bringing to them and it helped me selecting more and more activities that they liked playing.
Do you ever record the grade they give themselves? Also, do you ever have them assess on a specific part of class? For example: Assess yourself on behavior only. Assess yourself on skills only. Assess yourself on cooperation only. Just some ideas. :)
The first 3 (Need more effort, keep on trying, good job) are behavior/effort related and the Wow challenge is skill related. I record any behavior issues and try to do record skill assessments when I can as well. So normally I have already recorded what I need before they grade themselves, it's just an opportunity for them to take ownership and for me to make sure they are on the same page as I am - if not we discuss it. So I guess short answer - I always record anything below "Good Job" related to behavior - and try to record Wow challenges (skill related) when it's possible logistically.

Glad you tried it out and that it's working - thanks for the feedback!
Making these signs tonight for this school year. Making them for our other specialists, too. Thanks for the resource.
Lisa Berman That's Awesome! They are a great way to hold kids accountable, I hope they work for you.
Thanks for the great ideas. First year PE teacher.
What happens if the students just pick wow or good job all the time? What if they don’t hold themselves accountable?
That opens the door for a chat and a teachable moment about taking responsibility for what you say/do
Thank you. Love your work

Do you find this works for all grades or a specific age group? This year I'll be taking on PE for preK-12th grade. Thanks for the resource.
I use it with 1st - 5th, so that's all I can speak to - but it works well for those grades
have you had any experience of students commenting about what other students touch?
Yep, most of the time they help keep each other honest. If it becomes an issue I just discuss it with the student who can't mind their own business.
