I am from Florida and planning to go on a road trip to Pennsylvania to escape the heat here. Idk how I stumbled upon your video but I am so happy I did! The production and edit are fantastic! You deserve way more views! Cheers man!
Thanks man, I'm glad you liked it!
It's really tough, but there are some spots in the few national forests we have that allow for dispersed camping for free for up to 14 days I believe!
Can't wait to get there this summer!
Great video!! This is on my list of places to visit. Thanks for the information.
also lake raystown resort is a great campground to go swimming kyak ride bikes
Absolutely! My hometown was near there and I went all the time growing up
Your videography and photos are amazing- such a pleasure to watch
Thank you!
Fantastic video! Cherry Springs State Park should be linking to it and paying you.
Amazing
Thank you so much for putting this video together I’ve been looking for a place to look at the milky way now I got it 😊
awesome drone shots
Thanks!
I'm heading hear this October to attempt to set a speed record on the STS and my wife will be staying in our camper at this campground. This was a stellar edit by the way, great work!
Thanks so much! You'll probably get some awesome fall colors too
Such a well made video that doesn’t have nearly as much recognition as it deserves
Thanks! I really appreciate that!
Loved the video!!! I live in lake Ariel pa… my goal is to go to all 121 state parks in PA. This one will definitely go on my soon list! Just subbed
Really cool music, really cool video.
I was only there in 2007 so far.
Friend had just gotten a car he wanted to test out lol, I wanted to see the stars. We drove from North Jersey starting at like 10 pm.
We got out quick when we were almost there and did indeed get a glorious view, but clouds were coming in and covered by the time we got to the park.
Still such an awesome view, and I've stargazed in some other pretty dark sky places in northeast and the West a little, also in China, Russia, Scotland.
I'll be back soon with gf.
Thanks man! Yeah it's one of the few and best spots on the East Coast for stargazing
This is such an awesome video!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
I love this! Nice job
This is just epic bro.
Thanks man!
Great video man! I've been there! An incredible place.
damn thats one of the craziest pictures the one with the road and the milky way litterly brought a tear , this place only like 4 hours from me i gotta go
Thanks man! It was about the same for me and absolutely worth it
What about winter? I wanna camp in friggin Game of Thrones winter conditions!!
That looks suspiciously like the Allegheny Reservoir near Rim Rocks 😮 lol that's a bit of a drive to "cool off" from Cherry Springs!
What trail did you bike on?
Great video, I love my home state, Pennsylvania is so under rated.
Great edits and voice over. I really want to visit a place where I can see the night sky with low light pollution. This place is quite close to NJ
Thanks! It's northwestern PA so not terribly far
This is amazing! Were you camping at overnight astronomy observation field or the campsite? I was trying to reserve a spot at the campsite but there's no availability at all.
Thanks! This was at the campsite across the road from the observatory. I'm pretty sure I booked my site in July around February or March of that year
Hey man great video! Do i have to bring my own tent if i want to camp overnight? Or do they rent their own tent?
Thank you! Yeah you'll need your own tent for this campsite
Wow! Do you remember the site number where you camped? And are some sites better than others?
Not exactly, I was at the northern most ones at the campsite, I know some have more shade than others but generally they're all pretty good
Awesome video! What month of the year was this if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you! This was this past July
what’s the name of that bike trail? awesome video man! great stuff!
Hey man, is there a full road up and around to get on top of the place or do you have to park and hike quite a distance? I'm concerned about that, just wondering, thanks!
There's a road into the campsite that I stayed at and a main paved road through the majority of the area I show. There was a smaller dirt road for some of the areas which is fine in the summer, but I know it's not maintained in the winter so it may be closed depending on snow. Hope that helps!
@@kolbykoeck7618 That campsite you stayed at, is that on top? I'm curious cause I intend to go there in two weeks for start gazing 👌 Less exercise the better for me 😂😂
The campsite is pretty accessible, my car was parked just about 10ft away from my tent. It has an open field just behind the campsites for better star gazing, no more than a 100m walk away
Appreciate you brother, thank you!
Hey man where exactly did you camp overnight? I usually do the overnight observatory but I want to go where I can also have a fire
I camped at the campsite area just across the road from the observatory in Cherry Springs State Park
@@kolbykoeck7618 sweet. Did you have to make a reservation or is it just first come first serve
For a weekend in the summer I had to book it probably at least 3-4 months in advance
@@kolbykoeck7618 where do you make a reservation? I thought the park was public (first come first serve) - only the start “parties” need reservations.
Or did that all change recently? Thanks . Inspiring video !
was that at the astronomy field or one of the other campsites?
This was at the normal campsite on the other side of the campground
Are your pictures at night what I could expect to see with the naked eye? Or did you take these pics with a special camera/ telescope ? This looks unreal, I’m 100% going there soon !! I’m in northeast Ohio btw
You'll be able to see the shape of the milky way with your naked eye, but it won't be as bright as what the camera can pick up. I used a Sony A7iii which is a pretty standard camera.
@@kolbykoeck7618 can i ask what lens you used ?
I used the Sony 20mm f1.8 for most of these, something wide with a large enough aperture to let a lot of light in
Can you see a lot of stars there with the naked eye ?
On a clear night during the new moon you can make out the Milky Way with the naked eye pretty well. The photos show a little more than what the eye can see though
@@kolbykoeck7618
Thank you for the vote if confidence! just gotta see if I can get a hotel or b&b for the new moon coming up lol
Which campsite is this you're set up in? Is it the rustic campground?
What trail are you riding?
Can you camp here with a roof top tent?!
I'm pretty sure, most of the sites are pretty big and I don't remember seeing anything against them
@@kolbykoeck7618 thank you brotha definitely want to make this happen looks like an awesome place 🤙
Where'd you go biking?
Trails near Jakes Rock near the Allegheny River
Can you hammock camp?
I've never done so and you couldn't at my site because they weren't any trees, but there are sites nearby that do have more trees and it seems possible
@@kolbykoeck7618 nice thanks man
Wonderful video. I've been to Cherry Springs at night and it is magical. The peaceful serenity of a dark sky with the billions of stars shining. Its a reminder of how small we are in the universe. Btw you should offer your video to PA DCNR for a commercial conservation and natural resource appreciation. For a fee of course. It makes me want to go and experience it.
Thank you so much! I would love to have the PA DCNR use it but I really don't know the first person to contact
I live in PA... we can car camp or tent camp there? This is so cool.. planning a trip to go see. Place looks amazing
There's plenty of space for either at almost every campsite!
Awesome video with awesome edits but not very informative
