What is the music track you used for the first couple of minutes? Stunning choice - contributes well to the sense of desolation these abandoned places have. This Pittsburgh native enjoyed seeing these places, some for the first time.

Thank you :-) Lots of different sources. I belong to a couple groups on FB, there are also websites and blogs. A lot of times, locations are not given so I have to do a lot of research and that includes using Google Earth to pinpoint and other sources. It's more work than what people think, lol. Believe it or not, a parking area is my greatest challenge.

  • @TheSuburban15

    Ridley Creek State Park
From the main entrance, follow the road to the end to parking area #15. There is a picnic area there. Take the blue trail on the far left straight to the ruins of a farm house. If you are looking at a trail map, it's where the blue trail forms a loop in the southern end of the park. This is a pretty easy hike.
There are ruins of at least 3 buildings on the multi-use trail. I believe they were all homes. One is near parking area 15, the other two that I remember are near parking area #9, east of the intersection of the white and blue trails and the multi-use trail. The multi-use trail is hilly, and challenging hike or bike ride if you want to attempt to hit all three without driving. It's a more challenging hike along the blue trail, especially since the dirt trails are not marked all that well in places.
You might also be interested in the Newlin Grist Mill near Concordville if you are in the area. I believe all the buildings are more recreations, but it's a nice place to spend a few hours walking around. The mill property is over 150 acres with creeks and brooks with bridges across, a dam, and about a dozen historic buildings. It's not as much of a challenging hike as Ridley Creek Park.
Brandywine Battlefield Park is 4 miles south down Route 1 from the Mill

It's amazing these gigantic abandoned buildings were once a bustling place. And it was somebody's job to be there every day. But no more. Several others to visit in PA are Greenwood furnace and Thousand Steps in Huntingdon County. Bird Rock in Reedsville, Mifflin County. But this isn't an abandoned place, it's a natuaral feature of the mountain.

A little bit of commentary, even just a little, would helps us viewers relate with the emotions being projected. Anyway, I live in south central Pennsylvania. The east broad top railroad, centralized in orbisonia, has abandoned buildings that run the whole length, and a tunnel. But is also under new ownership who plans to get a big part up and running again. They will blast the tunnel open. You may not have much time left to check it out. Also, the thousand steps between mapleton and mount union has an old abandoned building at the top. There are many more in huntingdon County also. I live like 20 minutes from breezewood and the old turnpike. And have been to most of the places you featured. Right now I'm working in ohiopyle, where they have the natural water slide.

I find going to the Abandoned Pa Turnpike is best done at the end of March or early April. Before the leaves grow on the trees. It feels more open and is easier to explore. I was there in March 2013. This video appears to show Sideling Hill Tunnel only a few months 9r even a few weeks later. The graffiti is the same as it was then and I could spot the Abgry Birds painted not to far inside the right hand side of the tunnel. My video is ony channel of my trips I've taken there.
