    Mike, you are a true force of nature. As a father of two boys under three, I hate the idea of having to one day teach them about the realities of evil in the world. I'd love to hear a podcast, or training video of you working with really young children and how you'd teach them survival techniques. Thanks for doing what you do.

    Excellent podcast. Interesting that you have become so open about your life. Children the fact you are no longer with their mom. You are raising your children old school with new ways of doing it. Hearing you talk about it. So reminds me of talks with my dad when I was young. Camping fishing tracking animals. How to find your way when lost..where to sit in public how to watch people. What to look for how to react. All of it. He used to even take me leave me in a situation and then sneak off and watch me to see what I did. It never stopped my whole life. He was a veteran he had seen the bad crap lost friends . He was going to make sure I was independent smart and capable. Thank you daddy for it all.

    I work at a hospital as a Trauma Nurse in Dallas and I work the night shift. I was choked out by a police officer that was confused after a head injury when I was hanging a medication. I was attacked in the parking lot by a psychiatric patient that was discharged from the ED (I handled him pretty good/he got a return trip to the ED). I have had a gun pulled on me by a biker who’s friend was ran over by an 18 wheeler because we stopped CPR after his brains started coming out of his nose during compressions. Needless to say I bring a gun to work and it’s in my “medical” Fanny pack which is actually a gun Fanny pack that I bought a Velcro medic emblem and stuck on the outside. I also carry two extra magazines, a paint lid opener, my Cat tourniquet, mace and a knife.

    Brother, you are a blessing. I've got a 9 year old son that's been asking me what to do if something happens at his school. I told him to run as fast as possible and he asked " what about my friends dad? They might need my help". I was in tears hearing him talk so selfless actions. I told him I thought he'd be a big help to his friends and classmates if he could stay cool and lead them to safety. I told him I love him and very proud of him for putting others safety ahead of his own and that I would scorch anything and anyone to help get him and his friends to safety. Then he ask if was gonna bring his Henry 22. I told him I would. Brother, God has blessed us both as dads and its OUR job to teach them. May God bless you and yours and
    God bless America 🇺🇸

    Just the other day I had a car park behind my house. Not abnormal, I live in town next to a business. And this wouldn't typically be a concern, I live in a decent area. But, my son was playing outside with our dog. He didn't like the look or feel of the car so he ran inside and told me. I observed, and nothing looked amiss but I was proud of my kid for airing on the side of caution and being aware of his surroundings. Thanks for the great episode, Mike.

    Tons of wisdom in there! Old school child’s play is good training for an active shooter situation. Dodge ball, snowball fights, tag, flag (hell, tackle) football, hide-n-seek, my brother and I had BB gun wars and rock fights when we were kids, very high incentive to not get hit (not recommended) but you could train escape and evade tactics with your kids through kid games while having fun. Get off the couch and off the X kids!

    You nailed it… I don’t care for the folks on either side of the aisle. Both scream what we should and shouldn’t have/do. I just want to be left alone.. if I had any motivation to do any activist type activities it would simply be figuring out different ways to avoid paying taxes.. once again leave me and my family alone.

    I'm only a few years younger than you, but I asked my old man who is now 80 a while ago about something you actually just brought up. It's not surprising that there is a political leader that is absolutely beyond incompetent, but it is definitely surprising how, not just apathetic the public is, but almost willingly abused by the policies just to save face. So from the 1950s until now, we can confirm that this attitude has not been seen by either of us in the United States.

    Again, thanks for the message youre putting out and what youre attempting to do, there's many of your fellow americans out here who greatly appreciate it. Unfortunately there are people out there (more importantly within the government) who simply dont want to accept the hard truths and realities you mention, and think they can just stick their heads in the sand and believe in an irrational, impossible reality where banning "assault rifles" would magically fix the issue(and even if it hypothetically did, that isnt a good reason to NOT better fortify and protect our children in schools as a contingency plan).
    On the topic of family though, I live in NY(unfortunately) and since my father passed( Navy corpsman e-5 in the 70s) its become my responsibility to look after and protect my 66 year old, saint of a mother (as well as the household) since my brother is on the same page as my mom who doesnt ever even think about security or protecting the family and house. Im very vigilant about keeping the house secure, and teaching my mom to become more situationally aware when shes out instead of constantly being on auto-pilot oblivious to whats going on around her in this increasingly volatile country. Shes getting some surveillance cameras for the house finally after me pushing for them, the only issue is she refuses to even consider having a firearm in the house(and training of course) for protection and her logic is "nothings ever happened to me in my 66 years of life so what am I worried about"(and live in a "good" area) and the fact we have 2 90lb dogs+ myself to protect her. How do I convince her that she should seriously consider a firearm or to take personal protection/security more seriously? I tried explaining to her that none of those things matter whatsoever to someone with bad intentions and a weapon of their own but she seems to be perfectly fine living in this reality where nothing bad will ever happen, because it hasnt in the past. I fear that it will take something bad actually happening first for her to possibly change her outlook on things, and the idea of feeling helpless to protect her in such a situation is something that I fear for regularly.

    Thanks for mentioning the family unit in this issue Mike, I believe the welfare state is contributing to these incidents by taking away the roles of fathers in households instantly creating tons of single-parent homes and a mom working 3, 4, or even 5 jobs to keep the household afloat on her own. When that's the case, who's going to raise the kid? That is what's happening in Chicago gang violence, but as details of these kids that do these shootings come out, I'm starting to see that may be the cause of these mass killings as well, just my opinion.

    My wife has a cousin with bipolar/manic depression. When he takes his medication hes fine. When he doesnt its not good. Ill give an example..we had a family barbeque at his sisters house. He decided he didnt want to take his medicine that morning. Long story short..out of nowhere he grabbed his sisters dog by his collar and started to slam the dog on the deck. He injured the dog badly I and others jumped into action and it ended badly for him. The last thing id ever want to see is him holding any rifle. He can easily obtain one at any gun shop. Im pro 2A all the way but the line needs to be drawn somewhere.

    • @Handcannon77
      @Handcannon77 2 роки тому

      Well there ARE laws in place for preventing people like your wifes cousin from legally going and purchasing a gun from an FFL. Im fairly certain every single state has some type of law limiting the purchase of a firearm by someone who is deemed mentally incompetent/unstable/a potential danger to themselves or others. If hes ever been committed to an institution/hospital(or otherwise deemed mentally incompetent by the state before) due to his illness then those laws should prevent an FFL from selling a firearm to him. Are those laws perfect? Definitely not, because of how they work and what is required for the laws to take effect, especially considering the fact that the mental healthcare(most notably availability and quality of care) in this country is absolutely abysmal since many people will go undiagnosed.
      I think those laws can definitely be improved but theres a slippery slope of requiring psychiatric evaluations/history of people to buy a firearm, since what types of things would be agreed upon as the type of thing to restrict someone from buying a firearm? Because I can guarantee the federal government would abuse such a system unfortunately, history tells us that they would for a fact.

    • @Mknitfit
      @Mknitfit 2 роки тому

      @@Handcannon77 Im pretty sure an FFL is not allowed to look into your medical/mental health records. If ny wifes cousin takes his meds any FFL would think hes perfectly fine mentally. Unfortunately..hes the farthest thing from that. He skips his meds..hes a ticking time bomb.
