The whole area is over built . When I was living in the Northeast I had 15 trees cut and was told not to be surprised if i ended up with water in my basement . I did end up with a little water when we had storms . Just recently home owners here in FL complained they never had flooding living by the canals until developers cleared out the land and built houses .
I am born and raised in Miami and I never encountered anything of this magnitude ever in my life. Unfortunately this is a combination of global warming and the increasing lack of green space. Ever time you turn around there is a new condo being built. There is not enough green space to absorb rain water.

Amazing that people do not heed the warnings of the TV meteorologists. Every local news channel was broadcasting warnings that unprecedented rain was heading their way. Everyone had at least 24 hours to get their vehicles to higher ground. Simply not paying attention to this degree is mind blowing.
Im in Central FL and since 2004 there's been more hurricanes at my home in CT than here in FL . You want to build a home on the water or by a canal insurance companies should charge a lot or give no coverage .

Florida is deceptively titled "the Sunshine State." In fact, it frequently floods in the southeast tri-county (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach), not significant, but enough to ruin your entire day. I know because I lived in Fort Lauderdale.

I believe in April 2022 in Ft Lauderdale ,it rained as much or more.I was at airport and planes on the ground appeared to be " hydroplanes".The airport was closed x couple days at least.

Everyone seems to forget that they are the ones responsible for putting us on a pathway towards a several degrees hotter and destabilized planet. My thoughts are with everyone affected by these events.

I have a friend who sold his place in Florida earlier this year, after the first time that Ft Lauderdale got hit with 2 feet of rain, and his car got ruined, and his townhouse was close to also getting flooded. One sale had fallen through because of exorbitant insurance costs.
Close to 2 feet or 24 inches would put the entire area under extensive flooding stage. 24 inches may accumulate in low lying areas. Please set the FACTS straight.

Born and raised in miami... My hometown has been used as a toilet for years. Aventura didn't exist 40 years ago. Overdevelopment, climate change and sea level rise. While there, I saw about a foot of rain an hour come down once in Naples, and again in Pensacola. I also saw 4 hurricanes in 4 weeks come my way in Tampa. So glad I left FL. The whole area is over built . When I was living in the Northeast I had 15 trees cut and was told not to be surprised if i ended up with water in my basement . I did end up with a little water when we had storms . Just recently home owners here in FL complained they never had flooding living by the canals until developers cleared out the land and built houses .

I believe in April 2022 in Ft Lauderdale ,it rained as much or more.I was at airport and planes on the ground appeared to be " hydroplanes".The airport was closed x couple days at least.

I have a friend who sold his place in Florida earlier this year, after the first time that Ft Lauderdale got hit with 2 feet of rain, and his car got ruined, and his townhouse was close to also getting flooded. One sale had fallen through because of exorbitant insurance costs.
Close to 2 feet or 24 inches would put the entire area under extensive flooding stage. 24 inches may accumulate in low lying areas. Please set the FACTS straight.

I'm sorry for the people involved in the destruction and flooding in Florida, but have to wonder how many times FL residents are willing to tolerate the hurricanes, flooding, spiraling costs of housing, insurance, severe heat in their current locations.
Interesting how they said it was a "once in a thousand year" rainfall event. I lived in Tampa for four years. While there, I saw about a foot of rain an hour come down once in Naples, and again in Pensacola. I also saw 4 hurricanes in 4 weeks come my way in Tampa. So glad I left FL. This happens all the time down there.
