    No way I'd have attached to my loader arms. Keep yanking trees out with it and you'll be having issues. Connect to a piece of equipment on your e point hitch or better yet a draw bar.

      Yeah it was a bad idea. First time trying to film while using it. I attach the hook chain to the rear draw bar now, plus there’s more torque that way. Cheers.

    Might be better to pull with draw bar. Don't want to twist loader.

    I’ve tried 2, an 8 and 11, both bent when used. I returned them. The secret is the tow vehicle. The manufacturer says you can’t use bigger tractors. A UTV max

    If you gripped closer to the base you would have better leverage. I use a highlight jack hack for stump and shrub removal and a chain and some d shackles. But this will be easier on the end instead

      That's why you thread it through a used tire or put a weighted shipping blanket on the chain..

    I don't understand why this tool is necessary when a chain or length of rope will do the same thing. 😐

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  Рік тому +1

      It’s definitely NOT necessary. Just another tool in the shed and maybe a bit less cumbersome than a big bunch of chain. They’ll all do the same thing. 🍺

      Particularly with small trees, can be hard to get chain to not slip.

      Go clear land with just a chain or rope and you will see. What makes this invaluable is the harder the grabber is pulled that hard it grabs. Excellent piece of equipment.

      Slipping....

    • @mst5632
      @mst5632 3 місяці тому

      As long as you have figured out the best way to clamp with a little experimenting, it doesn’t slip except on less than 1”. For those little guys it likes to grab and strip bark so you pull and strip 2-4”, and reposition onto that area. Won’t slip then.

    I attach mine at the drawbar. The load is then always centered, not trying to flip tractor because the draw is lower than the rear wheel axle center, and is built for pulling. Putting unbalanced loads on loader frame is asking for trouble as far as tweaking the frame or loader arms. Also hard on the hydraulic cylinders.

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  Рік тому +2

      I use on the rear now, I just needed it on the front to film and to see what I was doing for the first time. The little gizmo does work though.

    Looks like you'd want to have the thing bite a lot lower to pull the roots out without bending it over and snapping the trunk off.

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  Рік тому +1

      I tried it at every level of the trunk, working at the base only works for tiny trees. With 3” and bigger the roots are strong and doesn’t pull out so raising it a bit kind of bends the tree over breaking the roots on the one side. It’s not perfect but is just another tool in the shed.

    I am new to the whole tractor thing I have a Kubota BX 2680. Every video I see on this product shows everybody just pulling and tugging. Why is nobody using the bucket to lift and then back up? Again, I am new to a tractor, so I look forward to the answer on this.

    I wish I had a Big John Deere tractor ! That saves a lot of work Chad. How are the Pets doing ! You could pull those logs and small trees out by wrapping a chain around them and pulled them with your tractor. I could have saved you $100.00 😁

    Given that it's on a chain so it's flexible wouldn't it be better to mount it on the back? I almost feel like you would get more torque to go forward than trying to back up

      Most likely ur right, I just wanted to see what I was doing for first time use and for filming the video lol.

    I don't believe most ATV'S have the Ass to bull small tree stumps wirhout doing real damage to the ATV , I like small Choker Chains for small brush and even a Choker Cable in some conditions. Some of them small stumps can really be a challange, I pulled up a Bow Wood beside my patio several years ago........lets just say it kicked my ass and I still didn't get it all, it was almost imbarrrassing 🤪

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  Рік тому +1

      Haha I hear ya, some of them are buggers to remove. There's tons of videos of people ruining their atvs trying this cause they do it wrong. But anyway this device is just another tool in the shed and comes in handy on the right occasion.

    Can I ask why you wouldn't just wrap a chain around them? Why do you need the extra stuff? I mean I've seen people pull stumps with a truck this sounds like a waste of money. Also you could just burn it out. I don't understand why wasting the money on this tool. Rather you invest in a chain. It works the same.

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  Рік тому

      A chain could be used for sure around the small trees, but don't grab very well with smaller trees and brush. This thing grabs a hold pretty well. It's just another tool in the shed and great for pulling to get the root out. Burning takes a while too while this thing is a few minutes. To each his own I guess.
