A.B. is my all time favorite too. There's a lot of music to study and learn from right there in that 1st minute and 45 seconds. I wonder if that double thumbing thing at about the 1 minute mark is difficult?
Yep some play with pinky finger planted, the ring finger flips about with the middle finger but does not play a string, others rest the pinky and ring together on the velum it is simply preference. Kind regards Tim
Alison I love your banjo skills, but hearing that electric sound as if coming from a waste paper basket isn't what most banjo loves want to hear. I like the acoustic sound of a banjo. I can only speak for myself.
That "electric sound" ain't her banjo, it's the poor acoustical combination of the recording microphone held up to a single speaker. This has a lot of earmarks of a cell phone video. The song is "Steam Powered Aeroplane" by John Hartford, who always tuned the banjo low. Alison does the same, but you would never know it from this poor audio recording.
Wow! Allison you're the best. And to think you got your start with Southland! :)
Alison is my all time favorite banjo player. She can play it all and does so very masterfully.
Bold licks on banjo. Alison is creator of delightful music and currently the best women´s banjo player
Glad banjo's still around in 2103!!!!
dude! banjo hasn't even started yet!
Shes the best and the most beautiful banjo player!!!
As always Alison Brown is most delightful to listen too!
Alison is an exercise in economy of motion and style. Thanks for posting. Now about that 2103 recording date..........

And to think she gave up an MBA powered Wall Street career to do this! Thank you very much!!!

I've known she was awesome since she was a babe in the woods.....
But really thanks for posting this - such a rarity!

Alison Brown is amazing. How did she do that?

Yes, it is very difficult if you haven't practiced it.
Is she picking with 4 fingers on the right hand?
Usually with 3 fingers and the little one rests on the membrane
Yep some play with pinky finger planted, the ring finger flips about with the middle finger but does not play a string, others rest the pinky and ring together on the velum it is simply preference. Kind regards Tim
