Allison Brown hit a grand slam on the banjo with this song. I loved it. I saw and heard this video two three years ago but I'm first responding to it now. I have played this over and over and over again. And I am hooked. Five stars to Allison and the band!
Me too - I have played it over and over, 'revisited it today and shared it to a group. Totally joyous, thrilling, ecstatic. I play banjo and am thrilled by this marvelous happening, captured forever and available here. Thanks, Juha33.
The woman always has superb players that make this work. The musicality, goodness, bassmam Garry, keyboard players, woodwind players, guitarists and mandolin/violinists. Fabulous!
From the Telluride 2003 (30 Years) DVD. The whole dang DVD is amazing. Try to find the first cut "Deeper and Deeper" with Sam Bush Band, Bela Fleck and John Cowan (what a voice).
Terrifically talented and equally understated musician, with a quiet stage presence. Many thanks to Alison Brown for taking time out of her first appearance at the world renowned Shetland Folk Festival (was it really 1994?) and patiently showing me some banjo techniques. I’m still picking. Andy
I could love bluegrass music if there just wasn't so many nerds and geeks involved. I went to a huge bluegrass festival here in Minnesota and I swear it was inhabited by a couple thousand people with out friends.

My favorite Alison Brown song. And that's a tough call.
And her stuff with New Grange is great too.

I love this. Alison Brown is one of reasons why I attempt to play the banjo myself. She rocks.
Alison hits this out of the park. Come on folks, tune into greatness!
I love it, a combo of bluegrass, Irish jig, Latin Jazz....very, very good instrumental....
The piano player nailed it on the jazz riffs.
Love that song and Allison Brown.
What a talented crew! That's it...I'm going to Telluride next year!
As was said " the piano player NAILED IT on the jazz solo" I can' t disagree. The whole thing was cool.
Great way to begin the day!
Great stuff.I did enjoy the power of the instrumentalists.
She IS THE BEST THERE IS
Absolutely super! Probably the greatest female banjoist out there; the pianist is also terrific! Not to mention Joe Craven , who can play ANYTHING!!
That was COOL! Loved the banjo/bongo bit with the mando player. Great work to Alison and the crew...everyone was fabulous!
Mmmyess There are also some tremolos on the banjo on the second song.
I like all music, and all music sometime or another gets into the pentatonic scales when good musicians get together.

Genialne, radosne!
Nice work
tight band yal
A progressive folk, i dont know what to call it, but it's like a time travel from past to future...
A class act! Shame the awesome drummer/percussionist never got a mention!
2:13 Going for a day out today. Must make an effort and put my very best BOILER SUIT on.
The first part is rather redolent (as Tony Trischka would say) of Whiskey before Breakfast. 😉
PĚKNÉ
1:44 Alison at her very best.
Seamus Egan sighting at beginning of the video...
but I see no credit to the percussionist my friend!
Why?
to the poster of this video, the drummer is not Kenny Malone.

HAHhaha
I have friends, and yes I play bluegrass. So do my friends, we'll some of them. 😁
😆 how did you conclude that? Maybe show yourself friendly and you’ll have many friends.
joe craven formerly with grisman on mandolin.
Thanks anyway.
Its the Eddie of Van Halen of Mandolin players HAH HA!
I think it's because they had no way of getting an actual piano to the area that they are playing in!Pianos are heavy...
And every time you move a freakin' acoustic piano you have to tune it - and that's time and money and hassle.
Alison, marry me?
why that awful sounding electric piano with otherwise proper instruments!?
What a naff response to a really amazing pianist, by the way, what do you play?
