My Take On Dream Cake - Treats By Jenny

  • I'm sure you've heard of the Dream Cake that's been the talk of the town for a while now. Here's my take on a 5 layered chocolate cake!
    Yields: 3 6inch Tin Chocolate Cake
    Baking Temp 350 DF
    Baking Time: 35 mins.
    Ingredients:
    Chocolate Cake:
    100g all purpose flour
    50g cocoa powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    225g white sugar
    1 large egg
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    100 ml buttermilk
    50g vegetable oil
    100g hot water
    1/2 tsp instant coffee
    Chocolate Pudding:
    130g white sugar
    32g cocoa powder
    3 tbsp cornstarch
    1/2 tsp salt
    530ml full cream milk
    30g butter
    1 tsp vanilla
    Chocolate Ganache
    200g dark chocolate
    200ml heavy cream
    Melted Chocolate
    200g semisweet chocolate
    3 tbsp cocoa powder (dusting on top)
    You will also need 3 6in tin can

    I did this recIpe yesterday and my family loved the cake! It is super moist and soft! I used a steamer for about 45-60mins and I did some modifications like cutting down the sugar to 180g.
    I loooove the pudding.
    I also substituted butter and milk to heavy cream for the ganache.
    I yielded 6 tubs of 500mL. I will be adding this on my menu. Thanks so much!! God bless you!

    it wouldn’t have been tricky if you assembled and refrigerated the first 3 layers first before spreading the melted chocolate on top. The cooled ganache would’ve been a more stable surface and would also cool down your melted chocolate quickly 😊

    Hello Ms. Jenny! I was wondering how long will this cake last in the refrigerator? And what brand did you use for the semi sweet chocolate? I have the pudding and chocolate sponge in the fridge and planning to continue working on it tomorrow. Is that ok? I wrapped the sponge in clingwrap then placed it inside the fridge. Yung pudding naman i covered the top with clingwrap, then place the whole bowl inside a ziplock. Is that ok?

      I’m afraid I don’t have a cornstarch substitute. :( but theyre available to most supermarket, you shouldnt have trouble finding them

      I wont recommend that because tin cans have paint...altho food grade, id rather cook them on actual round pans then transfer to a tin can when assembling

      Milk with a little bit of vinegar. Leave to curdle for 5 mins :)

      Hi Lia!! Unfortunately i dont have a cup measurement for this recipe. If u r into baking, it would be best to invest in a digital scale :)

      Shamila Jilliana Vasquez ano pong chocolate gamit nyo? Baka po kaya nag seize sya? Pag sobrng mainit po ung temp habang minemelt or nalagyan ng tubig ang chocolate, ang tendency mag cclump up tas d na natutunaw ng maayos. Kng ganon po, i suggest melting ur chocs slowly. Pwde s microwave, or double boiler over low simmer. Pero kng nag seize na sya, ul hv to use fresh chocs.

      Im using vnhauten intensedark compound.. I tried it both ways pg melt. Pero d sya ngging perfect. Ib consistency nya. So i end up adding milk pra tlgng mgnd pg ka melt kaso po for chocodisk. D sya tumtigas :(

      Shamila Jilliana Vasquez hmmm. The reason why it doesnt harden anymore is because of the addition of milk. Pag minelt nyo po, wag po biglang init. If ur using the double boiler method, make sure na nde nagkakamoist ung mismo g chocs and dapat po low simmer. Pag naman microwave, do it in 30secs increments pra nde mabigla. Pag ganon pa dn ung result, try nyo po using different chocs. Tbh i hvnt tried vanhouten, but im assuming it should melt easily. Try nyo lng po uli. :) basta be patient wag nyo po biglain ng init tas stir nyo ung chocs while melting.

      Charlyn Cuasay yes. Heavy cream and heavy whipping cream are essentially the same thing, and both must contain at least 36% or more milk fat

      PnoyAtPnay hi this is the gram and ml conversion :)
      1 g = 1 ml
      1 cup = 235 ml
      3/4 cup = 180 ml
      1/2 cup = 120 ml
      1/4 cup = 60 ml
      So for example, if we need 235 ml of milk that is 1 cup of milk. I hope it helps! :)

      Hi! Sorry, I dont have a grams to cups recipe :( but having a weighing scale is super helpful when baking. I suggest investing in one :)

      Hmmmm nestle all purpose cream in carton is not heavy cream. You can try but may need to adjust the ratio. I suggest experimenting and adjust as you go :)

    Pls dont say you add coffeejust because you feel like... please... it is common knowledge for cake bakers that brewd coffee or instant dark coffe is in the list of ingredients... dont try to claim it as your own...

      @@norinaalcordo3139 no i didnt claim it as my own. I said i like to add coffee as it enhances the chocolate flavor. I could say I like adding milk to my coffee but it didnt mean i invent / came up with that by myself
