- Celtic rounded off their US trip with a 4-1 win over Chelsea meaning Brendan Rodgers’ side racked up a total of 12 goals on their travels, setting themselves up nicely for the new campaign.
It all kicks off again this Sunday against Kilmarnock but - as it stands - the manager won’t have any new outfield signings at his disposal.
It’s been a cause of some concern amongst supporters and we look at some of the reasons for the lack of activity so far.
Finally, with the new campaign looming we give our big predictions as we look forward to a return of the Hoops after 10 long weeks!

Get the league cup won with the strongest team to keep the momentum going, we cannot give Rangers any sniff at a trophy.
Dont you think League Cup is a good opportunity to develop youth Paul?
@@TheCelticExchangeNot this season. Overtake their trophy haul first. I don't want them claiming that most successful team tag ever again in my lifetime 😂
@@TheCelticExchange Yes but we can bring them on if we are a few goals up.
@@J.D.1. I do. Can't wait to see how far they stick they're elbows down the cludgy to come up with some new trophies/tax returns 😁😉 rusty bike anyone 2 previous owners 🤔🤣 very worn saddle. Ouch!!!!! 🍀💚🍀
Benfica have signed about 8 players in July
That’s what can be done with a well oiled machine -
Great show boys different thoughts brilliant
Have started listening here more as ACSOM has actual loyalists on the panel.
Whats the story there @GW ?!
The board has a real hatred for us fans, trying us like mugs#sacktheboard
There's frustrations for us all during this window but dont think thats quite true
Good show tino a like ur balanced view on the transfer shenanigans we put up with year after year , me personally I renewed my ST but I won’t pay the UCL package like James I want to see a different structure at parkhead and behave and act more like a big club IMO
🏴🇮🇪🏴
Cheers @CCW - I think that unless Brendan Rodgers is backed accordingly then there could be some boycotting of Champions League package.
That said, once the draw's made it could be hard for folks to turn down. Will be a lot of money for 4 match package.
That won’t change anything as there 20,000 non season ticket holders with cash out there waiting for guys like you to not buy them.
@@cg9856 Thats true. But shouldn't stop Season Ticket holders showing how they feel if the right signings aren't brought in.
@@TheCelticExchange Yes, but it’s irrelevant if season tickets continue to be bought and CL games sell out. Who pays for the seats isn’t important if they are always full. This will be well forecasted by Celtic Plc.
I’m sorry but if Taylor thinks he’s a midfielder play him there ,to prove that’s not ::;;his position and please go out and spend money on a good ;;;;;left back ,that we have required for the last 2to3yesrs buy miofski and another top striker and do it this week ,or the fans will show just how angry they can really get with this board ,,. Hh. Joe. Little. Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🙏🙏🙏💰💰💰🏆🏆👍😎
It seems that moves are underway to bring in a left back (Hugo Bueno from Wolves is the talk) and Taylor to then play back up.
Not sure he thinks he's a midfielder but over the last few years he's played that inverted role and has done it fairly well for the most part.
Fans will show their anger about wot exactly
@@stephenwalker850 About the manager not bring backed with the right quality of signings.
Our very own OBSESSION with sevco, is the No1 reason we're stuck in the stone age with transfer policy, wage structure and ambition. The bar is so damn low and it saddens me that some of our fanbase accept this mediocrity as our only future path!
This summer is a big chance for the club to show what their ambition is. We need to be looking so far beyond Rangers
Rodgers can only deal with the players he is given and unfortunately he becomes the fall guy if its unsuccessful .
It's sadly a win ,win for the Board again.
Fans may have to challenge the Board openly and directly, an empty stadium for a game that is broadcast would send the message.
The real win/win is to spend the money, make the team better, comp[ete in Europe and enjoy all the rewards that come as a result of that.
Timo makes some good points re the complexities of signing a player but I think misses the most important one. Players of the quality we (and especially our manager) would like, do not want to play in the SPL. So, yes we are left waiting for the scraps if we ONLY want to sign players in/around that bracket. James asks where is the person who can sell the club to a player and cites Tommy Burns and Ange (both managers) yet tellingly doesn't follow the thought through to ask himself why not Brendan Rodgers? It is clear Rodgers (unlike Ange/TB) does not want to take any responsibility for project signings/or signings below the $4-5m mark, this is a dereliction of duty as a manager of a football team. He does this solely to protect himself and his reputation. The bloodletting of the Director of Recruitment last season was part of that, and is a major reason for the impasse at the club currently. Questions should be asked, if Rodgers was involved in the removal of Mark Lawwell then what was his plan beyond that, did he have one or did he just need a sacrifice to cover his failures on the pitch and in coaching up to that point? For sure, The Board's inner workings/lack of ambition has been a problem for many years but they have also brought a lot of growth/success for the club....just as Rodgers too has brought success he brings his own recurring problems, for some reason most fans are unable/unwilling to be balanced about that. Do not be surprised if/when we start to struggle again this season, that Rodgers once again triangulates The Board and fans just as he did last season and in his first term.
Great show lads HH
Cheers John 🍀
Brendan will bring Reo on
Hard to see any quality coming 😢.
All quiet for now K - hopefully some action in the days/weeks ahead.
Is it rumour about Hatate and o’Rilley leaving just a rumour or is there something in this
The board will sell the 2 of them & anyone else they can get money for 🤬
O'Riley very likely to move on Ben and looks like Southampton and Atalanta are the two clubs making offers at this stage.
Hatate to Leicester just a rumour, for now....That one came from Stephen McGowan (journalist) though and he's usually pretty accurate when it comes to Celtic
Would be a big blow to lose both this summer
Michael Nicholson can sell sashes to huns. I never seen a ginger pull so many birds in my life. Granted it was 20 years ago
If were not going to sign the standard of players required to improve team. Why not spend the money on a recruitment team and a strategy. Its clear that someones rotten in that dept. Even by our own standards.
Think we're still without a Head of Recruitment since Mark Lawwell moved on
ehhh, ND University was not founded in 1888, it was founded in 1842 by father Sorin.
Decent wingers help Kyoto
How long does it take Celtic to sign a player? They’re still haggling over the Bernardo deal, totally embarrassing! Still haven’t signed an outfield player and still weaker than last season! Feckin shambles! Lawwell taking no chances with spending the money because he has no ambition and is keeping it for when we are no longer in the CL( next season)
If we win the league and have to play qualifiers for cl and we gain entry to cl then liewells comments about hoarding money are null and void, there's something going on behind closed doors imo and we're not being told whole story here about why we're no spending cash, stadium repairs possibly as stadium now 30 years old, look across the water at the Huns crumbledome, we dont want to be in that position but the board will have to come clean sometime
We cover a bit of this in the episode John. Its definitely been a frustrating window so far but lots of reasons why transfers take time.
I'd be pretty convinced that we will spend between now and the close of the window @PCE the question is, how much!
If Brendan is backed properly then the sky is the limit for us and maybe he would stay a bit longer too. I think he wants to leave a legacy this time.
The league was in reality quite close last year. No guarantees this year with an under par side.
How long do you think Rodgers will stay with this Board before he goes south and who would blame him.😢
Rodgers is a snake, never forgive or forget.
Why does this divisive nonsense re Rodgers and the Board continue when Rodgers himself has repeatedly said he and the Board are at one? Of course it's not easy Brendan getting the players he wants that's not just up to him or the Board, the players and the potential selling club have a much bigger say! That guy Owen on the Sevco site said he would love Sevco to have our Board and not the one they've got across the city.
It's time the Board got some credit the way it has built up our club to its current healthy financial position which is the envy of most other clubs in the game.
Thats the big question. Will Rodgers get fed up (Again!) if he's not backed? Its a serious possibility.
Can you blame him for walking if he wasn't being backed Michael? What does he have to do to get back in the good books?
The Celtic Boards strategy appears to win the league most of the time and that's it nothing less ,nothing more mediocrity is our goal.
The ambition of the board must match that of BR and the fans.
we dont have a squad that would gwt out of the group stages of rhe conference league , get real lads
I admire the optimism lads but prepare yourselves for more of the same, turgid, slow build up and disjointed football, as a result of our elite manager lacking the imagination to beat an SPL level low block.
Not sure if you're being serious here Felix. This is the same disjointed football that won the league by 8 points and lifted the Scottish Cup?!
If part of the Celtic sell is we are usually in Europe but who wants to be in a side that's a European embarrassment ,you rather not be part of that show.
Exactly. It's great to be in the Champions League, but we have to be competitive.
There's an opportunity to be just that this season IF we bring ion the right players
We were competitive in 5 games last season in CL , the 6 - 0 game was proddy tax punishment for fans stance on Palestine, sick of whining fans blame everything on the board when anybody who has grown up in the Protestant slophole that is scotland knows deep down there are many many factors that Celtic have to deal with , added tax cause clubs know Celtic have money meanwhile other clubs are busily attempting to purchase our players with low ball offers , there’s a reason why Celtic exists and this cvntry is little different from the slophole it was when Celtic were founded , fans need to get real , the club across the water are bleeding to death you can be sure behind the scenes every opportunity they get they will try and scupper Celtic’s progress, cast your mind back to the Jorge Cadete fiasco , do you suppose slopland has changed much , I know it has not 👮🏻♂️👍
No two Celtic fans agree on anything , we need more players , we need three players , we need 5 or 6 players , we need to give youth ah chance , we need to keep our academy players , we need to offer more money to our academy players , thurs only 11 spots at any one time , we have good players at the club who aren’t getting enuff game time , if we hang on to everyone they don’t get their chance and their careers stall , it is ah fckn minefield
In other news if Hatate leaves I for one will be furious, 50 million or fck off
And sack the board
If the right offer comes in he will leave Stephen. Thats how it works here.
How would that work?
Ah’ll be honest Ahm ah board apologist , ah think many of the fans are full of fckn shit , the club should go 50+1 fans would be involved and ultimately select the players we go for but crucially fans would decide the type of money we spend on players , would the club be bankrupt in less than ah decade , quite possibly. last season ah read countless fan comments complaining that the the rangers put all their money on the park , our fans were shitting the bed in panic , but wot happened , guaranteed if the the rangers qualify for the CL many of our fans will be shitting the bed again , getting absolutely sick of fans threatening the club if (a) (b) or (c) does or doesn’t happen
Would you be happy if the board don't make further quality signings Stephen? If they don't back Brendan Rodgers to take things further in Europe?
