Nathan Fillion was in Firefly and Saving Private Ryan, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Castle, and The Rookie. Clancy Brown. . . was not. A deleted scene showed someone finding Jake dead. He couldn't make it on the outside without Brooks.
I honestly couldn't sit through this movie as a kid or teenager, but holy hell it's amazing now that I can understand it. Thanks for the genuine reaction, Maple!
As to finding buried treasure, I can think of a few ways. Lots of lost cities and shipwrecks and ancient ruins have been found just by carefully searching Google Earth, so that's one good way. Another is metal detecting, because you get that rush of buried treasure everytime you hear a good beep, and once in awhile you really do find little treasures, and it's amazing. And then there's geocaching, which lets you seek out a riddle or clue or just simple coordinates, to find what's hidden there. There isn't usually a monetary incentive, but the adventure is there in finding the treasure. My thoughts.
Gotta say her energy was a little off in relation to Andy and his predicament in the first half of this film. What got me was why she kept calling his character “crazy” when he displayed nothing of the sort except being somewhat introverted in nature.

But I loved how proud you were that you recognized someone from Firefly who wasn't actually in Firefly. And of course "that war movie"...Saving Private Ryan. 😆😆 Too adorable.
The white powder thrown on the prisoners was delousing powder. Delousing powder works just like flea powder in dogs. It is a chemical that is toxic to lice but not (normally) to people.

Something that surprised me when I learned it was that Captain Hadley's actor, Clancy Brown, is the voice of Mr. Krabs in Spongebob. Also literally one of the best movies ever made so glad you get to see it.
Clancy's family is pretty fascinating to read about, too. He comes from a very prominent publishing/political family in Ohio. His grandfather and his father were both US Congressmen, and his grandfather was a key person in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, at the height of the Civil Rights movement. Won't get too deep down the rabbit hole, but he (Clarence Brown) was a major proponent in trying to create more equal rights, anti-lynching laws, etc in the 1920s and 1930s as well.

Fun fact. In the book, the crow also dies when it was released into the wild. They found him when the grounds crew was cleaning up in the field around the prison the next week.
I was just telling someone yesterday that the guy that dove over the judges desk and attacked her is going to look like Brooks by the time he gets out 😂😂😂
I’ve seen that video and all the people making memes now 😩
@@MapleDivine yes ma'am wild times out here...the Internet will always move swiftly and be undefeated 😂...great reaction btw. Keep doing what you're doing beautiful 💯
3:15 - the guy in firefly? Adam Baldwin? (No Relation) who was also Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket, a war movie with a Sniper (sort of, at the end)
That "HE'S BEEN DIGGING" edit is just fantastic
Not sure how i missed this, this is one of my favorite movies of all time.
In my opinion this is ONE of the Best Movies ever made. Along with The Green Mile. And the most amazing thing,,, they were Both Directed by Frank Darabont. BUT, the kicker of it all. Both were written by an Amazing Horror writer. Stephen King. Who happens to be my favorite author. So he can write Non-Horror also. And that is why he is my favorite. Great reactions.
Fun fact: the main guard is also the voice of Mr. Krabz on SpongeBob Squarepants. Lol
Fun fact the prison in the movie is the Mansfield state prison in ohio. In Mansfield as the name suggests it was an actual prison closed down. They actual cleaned up a lot of the prison painted walls an what not just for the movie. It is now a partial walk through museum . Also supoosedly very haunted
It's very intentuonal that you're not sure if Andy is innocent or not until they give that flashback
The definition of insanity is playing music when you're not supposed to.
I had the very great fortune to meet Bob Gunton (The Warden) in Las Vegas a few years ago and he’s one of the nicest performers I’ve ever spent time with.
He loves talking to fans about literally anything.
Andy negotiated the beers solely for all the others, including the guards, at the lone risk of his own life.
Was honestly such a nice thing for them ultimately and he didn’t even drink any
The guy playing the head guard is Clanct Brown anappeares as the main villain in the first highlander fil and has also appeared in starship troopers and was in the Decter new blood tv series plus many other things.
Great reaction and editing 😂👌
Nathan Fillion was in Firefly and Saving Private Ryan, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Castle, and The Rookie.
Clancy Brown. . . was not.
A deleted scene showed someone finding Jake dead. He couldn't make it on the outside without Brooks.
@@AndyMatts44 OK, I can see a slight resemblance, but he was in Full Metal Jacket, not Saving Private Ryan.
Hadley is not in Firefly at all
No space crabs 🥲
"I hope."
Best line in the movie!
Oh Maple is going to cry HAAAAARRRDDDDD
I think this was the most up and down I’d felt during a movie
@MapleDivine I wasn't expecting the butthole song, not gonna lie lol
Quite possibly the King of sad cry, happy cry movies.
So true like a roller coaster of emotions worried, scared, sad, happy, on repeat
Oh man! I didn’t recognize Richie Aprile! Even before the Sopranos he still had those “Manson lamps”
Clancy Brown was not in Firefly as far as I know (unless he had a bit part). Maybe you're confusing him with Adam Baldwin?
No it’s not him 😭 to me they looked so similar for a moment
36:06 love the auto tune 🤣
I asked Chad to auto tune me once during an invincible reaction and the editors haven’t stopped since haha
Watched this movie for the first time a couple months ago! Knew Maple was gonna cry at the Brooks scene. Such a sad scenario to be in.
17:55 "Salvation lies within" best part if you rewatch
Gotta say her energy was a little off in relation to Andy and his predicament in the first half of this film. What got me was why she kept calling his character “crazy” when he displayed nothing of the sort except being somewhat introverted in nature.
Thanks for reacting to the best Stephen King's adaptation!
lol always surprises me how many people not sure if Andy did it or not. I was always sure that he didnt do from the start, maybe it was not that obvious to some in the beginning.
11:16 The wicker basket is at 11:12 for those wondering .
LOVE the auto tune on the “secret tunnel” song!!!
I couldn't help but chuckle over mistaking Clancy Brown for Adam Baldwin. I guess they do have some similarities in appearance. But I loved how proud you were that you recognized someone from Firefly who wasn't actually in Firefly. And of course "that war movie"...Saving Private Ryan. 😆😆 Too adorable.
It was actually Nathan Fillion. Firefly and saving private ryan
No castle, just a prison Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. They have tours still as far as I know. I live about 15 mins from there.
Is there similar architecture in the area is very gothic and intricate!
Luckily I got a laugh from your editor with the Spongebob Firefly bit because mistaking the head guard at Shawshank for the Hero of Canton is a crime
I lost it at the Firefly comment
The white powder thrown on the prisoners was delousing powder. Delousing powder works just like flea powder in dogs. It is a chemical that is toxic to lice but not (normally) to people.
Breaking out into the secret tunnel song had me dying 😂
Every tunnel is now a secret tunnel
Christmas of 2012 my partner and I wanted to go somewhere warm for Christmas for once, so we decided Zihuatanejo would be the place, because of this movie. Beautiful town.
Adam Baldwin's the actor who plays Jayne on Firefly. Clancy Brown, while known for Mr. Krabs, started out as the Kurgan from Highlander.
I can’t believe you thought Andy was crazy, or the first half of it. That was very funny too me
It's so crazy that this movie flopped in the theaters upon it's release.
I've watched a lot of movies. Thank you for your reaction. I was admitted to a mental hospital for attempted suicide. I have dysthymia which is low level depression with periods of deep depression. I watched this movie with another patient when Iwe got out because I've seen it before. She cried and made efforts to better herself. I don't know what happened to her as we lost touch. I hope she's doing ok now. I'm still struggling but I know the consequences of a failed suicide. There are good days and bad days. I try to live my life looking forward to and enjoying the egood days.
Keep hope, I've been there myself (wouldn't presume to have gone through what you have)
I'm sure you've heard all of the advice, from many people with great intentions. I can only add my own unsolicited advice: take control of how your thoughts. Specifically, if and when you find yourself being self-critical, recognize it and make a conscious effort to stop it in the moment.
You're gonna have to brainwash yourself, at least for a little while. Hope today is a good day for you friend!
Yes my favorite Firefly character Mr Krabs. He must have been the cook they never hired.
Hahaha 😂
Red: "So, when Andy Dufresne came to me in 1949 and asked me to smuggle Rita Hayworth into the prison for him, I told him, No problem."
Maple: What is that?
Me: It's a big building with convicts but that's not important right now.
Wonderful Airplane reference!!!!
And don't call me Shirley.
😂😂😂
Ok, the firefly part got me😂
Omg I was way to confident
@@MapleDivine hey blame whoever edited in Mr Krabs. They made it way more funny than it should've been😂
@@Kyjohnson1500 Chad lol he was joking on me after 😭
The guy in Morgan freemans parole pocket is actually his son. He committed a petty crime when he was young, and that's his son's mugshots. His son also played an extra in the movie.
I don't know why, but "Don't crumple up your scantron!" made me laugh really hard.
the whole ride there, the processing, stripping of everything u got on you, and when they finally drop u off in the cell and shut it as they leave u there... thats when u crawl into a lil ball and weep... in the cold dark
It's a story not about Andy's escape, it's about Red's redemption...
3:34 He also voices Damien Darkblood and Kregg in Invincible
This movie is a comfort movie for me, it’s perfect for overcast or rainy days when I’m feeling kinda sluggish. It’s a good movie to sit in a hot bath with candles and then lounge in bed with afterwards.
If you are referring to the Hadley, that is Clancy Brown. Adam Baldwin is the guy in Firefly you are thinking of that plays Jayne. Great Review as always. ❤❤
@@chand911 she realizes her mistake about half way through. 😃
Thank you and yes I don’t know why I got so confused for a moment they looked so similar
22:15 always nice to see people are confirmed human. 🙂
YAAAAAYYY more Maple tears
Real talk though, this is a top 10 movie for me, I've seen it so many times
$370000 in 1966 is the equivalent of just under 3.5 million today! Andy did ok! Haha
Especially when that’s moved outside of the US he could open a few more things!!! I really liked the ending
