  • I wanted to make small portable compressed air tank which can be charged and used to fill bicycle tyres, party balloons or water rocket.
    The plan is to use it with silent compressor taken out from broken fridge.

      Hi,
      I have no idea if this works for spray painting.
      My plan is to use it for blowing the dust off when working on car and fill the tyres when needed without dragging the whole compressor with me.
      If you try it please let me know if it works.
      Good luck and best regards

    Hi; Great video! Is the check valve necessary?

    • @shedmadein4115
      @shedmadein4115  2 роки тому +1

      I would say "yes" otherwise the air will keep comming back and will prevent air blowing back if the hose breaks.
      Try to remove the valve from bicycle tyre and pump it up. This will maybe give you better idea.
      Thanks for your comment.

      That was done without welding. To empty moisture from inside simply keep the tank up-side down when removing the air. Google translation was not very clear so I do not understand but thanks for the comment.

    How is your tank , how many tires could you fill with one tank want to use for off road

    • @shedmadein4115
      @shedmadein4115  3 роки тому +1

      Hi,
      All depends on the tyre size but the answer will unfortunately disappoint you...I think with this tank you will feel 0 (zero) tyres.
      The tank is about 2lit of volume. If the air is compressed x8, to 8bar it means that there was pumped (2x8) 16lit of air inside the tank. This will give you only 8lit of pressure at 2bar.
      All of that is govern by science and Boyle's law p1V1=p2V2.
      I saw somewhere on youtube similar tank was used to pop in the tyre on the rim but it was using 1/2" valve and bigger nozzle.
      You would need bigger tank or tank rated for higher pressure for ex. CO2 extinguisher, which are rated to much higher pressures and you would have to be able to compress the air to this pressure. In home conditions that would be extremely challenging and dangerous.
      Be careful and good luck.

    Using a tankless Airbrush compressor - I am thinking the safety relief valve is not necessary ? The compressor regulates pressure ....

    • @shedmadein4115
      @shedmadein4115  Рік тому

      Hi,
      I'm using various equipment to charage this tank and wnat to have a safety valve mounted just for piece of mind.
      This will also prevent pressure from rising if charged tank is left in sunny place.
      It's up to you to assess your system and decide if you need or do not need additional safety valve. Is it really worth it to skip this safety feature for what you need to pay for the valve?

      It all depends... This is small tank 2l volume. The applications will be limited. Forget about using it for big compressor.
      I personally used it to pressurise brakeing system of my car during brake bleeding.
      I also was thinking to use it as a compensating tank for central heating system.

      Hi,
      You can fill any tank, I think, with compressed air as long as it has got suitable pressure rating.
      Compressed air can be dangerous so stay safe and do some research before playing with it.

    So, how much air will this tank hold?

    • @shedmadein4115
      @shedmadein4115  8 місяців тому

      Not much :).
      The tank is 2l...The storage volume for a compressed gas can be calculated by using Boyle's Law
      p1xV1=p2xV2
      V1=(p2xV2)/p1
      The final volume depends on how much are you able to compress the air. The tank I think is rated for higher pressure but standard compressors will provide around 8bar. That means that you can squeeze in about 16l of air.
      I'm using the tank mainly when bleeding brakes.

      @@shedmadein4115 i made a much simpler version a 9 litre water fire extinguisher cut the end off the hose and fitted a barb fitting that goes into the hose and clamp on it to hold it then the other end was a quick connect so then i just connect it to my compressor hold down the trigger on the extinguisher until the pressure equalises and job done! super simple!
      refilling fire extinguishers with air pressure you usually unscrew the hose and screw in an adaptor with a tyre valve on the other end then you just pressure it up the same way as i do it.
      so the method i used is pretty safe the only extra thing involved is the hose which has walls that are thicker than my airline hose. Its supposed to take far more pressure than my compressor could supply anyway so im pretty confident its safe enough with only 8 bar of pressure max. the extinguisher can take upto 12 bar.

      Oxygen turns into liquid above 49bar so why to high for this tank anyway.
