Over the next few months I'm working to transform the entire Boatem Town from Season 8 of HermitCraft! In today's episode we'll focus on Grian's bases.

I love how much respect you show for the hermits. You don't understate anything they did and instead, focus on making the builds grander in a way that frankly you would struggle to do in survival anyways.

I'll admit I had my doubts about the concept of "Fixing bases", but right away it's evident that you're incredibly respectful of the original builds and builders, and your art is a work of love!! All your add-ons and ideas tirned out super cute and fit perfectly into the bases original concept. I'm stoked to see more!!

I just wanted to say how nice it is that you respect what a personal build scar land was for scar and that being your reason for not touching it without permission
That idea of copying the lobby of the Grians Gotts bank and putting it underneath to create a mirroring effect was so sick!

Ive seen it been done before, but totally forgot about it, and it looks so sick in a room like that.
its a really cool detail that i love cause the only other time ive seen it done is from giran on his minecraft server wynncraft in the first citys castle. It feels like an extra little detail tying it back to grian!

That's actually a technique a lot of older 3d games would use to emulate a reflection. Nowadays, computers are powerful enough to create actual reflections.
Thank you for *not * building over Scar Land without his permission. Scar Land was a passion project and dedication to Jellie from Scar, and (imo) no true fan of Scar would ever want to change it.

This is absolutely amazing. I really hope to see the whole area completely tied together. Seeing how popular Hermitcraft is, I really do think this series will completely transform your channel, and bring you many new subscribers. I'm excited to see what you do next with Scar's area!

I was never that interested in seeing different creators finish builds from smps that ended, but the way you did here really hooked me in, it's not just you being respectful (as awesome as that is) but the builds crearly come from a perspective of love and your own building style doesn't clash with the original but is also distinctve enough to feel exactly how it should feel, you know! Good job man
season 8 was a REALLY good season, and you just made it even BETTER!!!
i love throughout this it only seems like you're taking the original ideas and simply expanding on them without taking away from the original build, making them blend more seamlessly and seem higher developed with more purpose and reasoning that i'm sure Grian would've done as well if s7 wasn't so rushed, especially towards the end and if he had the time and resources to do so without pressure of making videos not only build focused, honestly what you've done is amazing and really tells a story
It also helps that he's able to play in creative mode with mods to aid in building and terraforming. What the Hermits can accomplish all in functional vanilla survival is incredible.
This build is amazing and I look forward to future episodes. But I would also just like to say how amazing it is that you brought up how you wouldn't edit Scarland without his express permission, as I don't know too many creators that would have that much awareness and it was just really nice to see.
watching you build the back of the mountain made me realize how daunting that would be to do in survival, i can see why grian put it off 😭 Also making the floor transparent with an upside down copy thing is so smart and looks great
I loved the train station and the incredible terraforming, both inside and outside the mountain. I must admit that the idea of reworking the base of such talented builders seemed almost impossible, but you did an excellent job, both having a good balance between new constructions, incorporating unfinished ideas from previous hermits and adding your own twist to the bases. Keep up the great work!
Late to the video however a couple of suggestions!
1. Completely delete the slime farm under the village and expand on complex / corporation looking rooms inside of the boatem hole.
2. more of a reminder but scar wanted to make clouds on top and around his mountains with a ton of buildings and flying ships around em. (If you don't believe me just re watch the episodes since I do not remember which one it was.
3. Mix some smaller boulders tree's or buildings from different areas, such as touches of copper vehicles on the mountain and small pipes from impulses factory or even Mumbos little houses.
4. So it might seem slightly mean but perhaps try expanding the mountains over cubs biome and around impulses factory.
5. if you'd like to build something over the boatem hole, try making a flying corporate building that is held up by various steampunky balloons, roots, pipes maybe even magic?

EDIT : (Make a ton or a couple of boats in the water surrounding boatem. ESPECIALLY in the little lagoon under grians and mumbos mountain connection)
It could be held up by the power of the moon
Also I feel like raising the G train onto the big bridge had the side effect of covering up all the cool building from the ground perspective of the starter house
i think (for mumbos base) it could have a overgrown feel, like it was abandoned, because it kind of reminds me of what a jungle temple would’ve been if it wasn’t a cobblestone box 😂

Wow this is utterly incredible. It really puts into perspective how amazing it is for the hermits to make such builds without the use of creative, and your transformations are enhancements on builds that are already amazing. Your attention to detail and dedication is admirable!
Nice job, I love how you kept the atmosphere of the alley and added on to it. Looks exactly like what Grian would have done if he had more time.
I have an idea for one of your future videos on Boatem. Impule's base always felt a little disconnected from the rest, probably because it is a structure as opposed to a mountian. I think I great way to integrate it would be for the black smoke from his factory's smokestack's to drift over Boatem towards Scar's mountain and transitioning to white clouds. And then Scar's base can be built on top of the white clouds and the whole area would come full circle!
I really appreciate the effort you put into to your interiors. Most people would build the outside and call it a day but the attention to detail is what makes your skill stand out in my mind. I also get to pick up some ideas for myself occasionally!
I hope you redo the actual boatem pole, make it like an actual totem with faces and inscriptions curved into it and with bigger boats! Really looking forward to this whole series!
I'd love to see Impulse's and Scar's bases become a sort of dark figures in Boatem, like the idea of a giant factory poisoning or corrupting part the town in a strange way. The idea of nature vs human intervention, where as builds like the midnight alley and Mumbo's base are more about converging with nature.
I think the idea of human's sort of ruining the environment for their own gain is something cool that I'd love to see done
Hey, next time you're making crop farms, if you want to save time you can do "/Gamerule randomtickspeed 500" to speed up natural crop growth, grass growth, and other similar things. To put it back, do "/Gamerule randomtickspeed 3" You can make the "500" bigger or smaller for faster or slower if you still want that time lapse effect. It will speed up farmland turning back into dirt though, so you might have to waterlog the dirt.

Great video. I suggestion I have is for Mumbo's base. If you've seen his video about a geologist vs hermitcraft, the geologist says there needs to be some water source behild the mountain for the waterfall to be realistic. So I think it would be pretty cool to add that to Mumbo's base.

I love how much detail you put in these builds. The way you can make a build look twice as good without completely destroying the original build is something I will never be able totally accomplish. Can’t wait for part 2!

For Mumbo's, leaming into the Hippie vibe might be best due to how his starter base is a a RV. Maybe we can get a reference to Ren's Hippie Persona of Renbob just to show that he and Mumbo are friends.
Also, I do think if you were to properly connect Impluse's base to Mumbo's. I do think you should make it so that there's a better transistion between them. Maybe having it be that there's some kind of elevator or staircase whichconnects to the bases together. As I do see the employee's at Impluse's Factory living on Mumbo's Mountain.

I rewatched all of season 8 and 9 this week because I'm super sick, and it's really cool to have a fresh memory of the builds as I watch you transform them!

Love your work on Grian's builds, however 1 small suggestion, with Griangotts bank, the exterior is brilliant! But the interior I feel doesn't fit the sleek design of the extrior, especially with the rough look of the granite and diorite, giving the whole place a crumbly and dirty look, rather than a sleek and secure place that you can store your valuables in. Other than that, love all the other features. Another small suggestion, have the train station be numbered 9 3/4 as a reference to the Harry Potter magical train station, and will nicely fit with Grian's Diagon Alley base
All great stuff, really. Season 8 was my first season and Boatem was my favorite part of it, definitely gonna watch the next episodes.
Quick thing! I don't want to sound like your builds aren't good or anything but in the area in front of the diamond hourglasses, I'd love if you put a whale or a whale statue. I remember this joke from season 8 between Grian and Mumbo about building this and I would absolutely love to see it become a reality.
You could do some kind of tribute to TFC or finish TFC's tower as it's just next to boatem (The ocean square between Grian and Pearl) It'd be lovely to see his tower get finished, maybe using his s6 unfinished tower as a starting point?

If you are going to do a village square I would love if all the buildings are still kind of random like hermits just built what ever they felt like.
I just realized HOW MUCH SENSE it makes to put the BOATem sand timers / wealth trackers at a dock on the beach. 😂 Especially with the Boatem Inc. sign like that!

Bro the dedication this takes is crazy the buildings are insane. The one thing i see is that some of the houses in the alley have the same brown/tan color it would be cool to see a little more spark/color in some
Grain has said he does not enjoy the use of path blocks. He loves to use the variety of dirt, mud bricks etc to make dirt path/roads
You can try leaving crops un-bonemealed to save some time. You're going to work in that area anyway, so by the time you finish every base, they might have finished growing. Worked for my creative mode builds, might help you save time.
So happy someone is doing this! I always felt they just kinda abandoned Season 8 :(

i give you massive props for this; i dont think i can overstate how impressively you melded your personal style with grians own. the added buildings in the alley, the editing and entire *train station* you built, the reformation of his starter base, the way you handled the starry sky- wonderful job, truly
if grians initial render of the starry midnight sky amazed me when he first built it years ago, then this one truly made my jaw drop
its *so* beautiful, artistically; if i ever find myself drawing a magical sky like this one, i might use this as reference
and the fact that there are interiors we havnt even been shown- even if you dont fully finish (*no* pressure, if you dont, this is a massive undertaking), i hope you make a download of it available to walk through!

Just from the way he talks, I can confidently say that this man is SO UNDERRATED
this looks fantastic so far! i personally would love to see an expansion to the Pillbug Make-A-Wish statue! i know its not directly a hermit build, but to see it enlarged and made to spread more into other areas in the center i think would be really cool, maybe building lore that the pillbugs are a void mob that crawled up from botem and live within the builds!

Really fun and ibtresting to watch. Whenever you get to Mumbo's base, you could do the messaging system between Grian and Mumbo's base? Just a thought since Grain mentioned wantind to do that.

ALso, Pearl's creepy pumpkin thing from halloween. Perhaps you could have it be the centerpiece of a large pumpkin farm close to Midnight Alley
It is honesty amazing how creative you are and how the respect for the original designs sill comes into the final version. I will admit i had my suspension on the "Transforming", but it is minded blowing.

Personally inside Grians starter base on the left the lecterns that act as a fencing for the massive drop, I would add trapdoors to make them feel more connected (just a small detail I noticed while watching) but over the video is amazing

I don't know how doable this is, but at 20:28 you should add a symbol (like the one used for the London underground) on the archway to indicate that it is a train station.
You should add a glitch in the matrix since Season 8 was all a simulation, and maybe a reference to the Empires crossover.

Bro, just remember that griangotts was inspired from gringotts, which in canon is a completely white exterior, and also the black makes it stick out less in the back

I would’ve really loved to have seen the G Train departing the station and going over the bridge over the bridge rather than being hidden away in the station. That one tweak would just add so much more motion and life into the build.
A flying car would have been cool!

I loved Boatem if only for the idea of connecting bases together. It's really commendable how you managed to take the vision these unfortunately slightly rushed bases represent and execute it so well, being able to transform them into something (in this case) Grian himself might've done with more time and the powers of Creative mode. I especially like the dragon that you added and the ceiling lights in the Midnight Alley, as well as the idea of raising the G-Train up onto a higher level.
I've recently come to appreciate Pearl and her building capabilities a lot and am looking forward to what you'll do with her base!
It really hurts me to remember Hermitcraft Season 8. It was such a shame it finished so prematurely. You can tell Grian and Mumbo were really enjoying their Mega Base projects and also felt proud about them, but since the season ended early and they had to start from the ground up in Season 9, they had to start from the ground up once again, and you can really tell how that affected their motivation to the point they both left Season 9 relatively early.
Watching this video brought me a nice closure. :)

I absolutely love this! Hermitcraft 8 was by far my favorite and seeing this brought back some really good memories. I'd really like to see you continue doing one Hermitcrafter's base per video like tgis, I really like this format.
I was so sad with how short this season was, its been my favorite season so far, I saw your videos about Grian and Mumbo's season 9 bases and my thought instantly went to scars base from this season, since he was having a bunch of health issues and wasn't able to do much, I really hope Scar is the next part because I really want to see his base done
This is super cool conceptually and it turned out great! One thing that left me a bit bewildered though was the block choices for the viaduct; the ore and coral blocks used feel a bit bizarre in terms of texture, and I'd love to hear what your thoughts were behind that or what you were going for
Thank you! I noticed Grian used a lot of coral blocks and copper in his builds, so I thought it'd fit in. Also I just personally liked the gradient it made from grey to the more dirt colored pathway along the top
for grians to add a refrence you should make his hourglass fake diamonds in the back since he did it in the season
I think itd be cool to see a reference to the hats that Scar made somewhere in his base!
