Due to the delay of the teased video, this video was rushed forward, so I apologize if I forgot any points or mispronounced something as this was a crunch mode video as well! Though I hope I did everything well enough to convey my point!
Talking about the community and how aggressive it can be with certain theories is so important. I appreciate you explaining how constructive criticism should actually work. 😊
I do feel that it should've been criticized like ANY other theory. Though to the extent it went was a little extreme. People tend to forget that FNAF can be interpreted in SO many ways. For a while I could also see why someone would come to that conclusion of Gregory being a robot. Though the theory had issues.
Personally, I believe it’s more of the books’ fault for starting off as “Not within continuity and not lore guide” and the modern games for not telling a simple narrative to clarify multiple theories. Tbf, the games should start telling the story- like LOOK AT BENDY AND POPPY PLAYTIME!!! They’re telling stories with the games more cut and clear and they’re handling the books so much better!! I’ll say that with the book debate, I don’t give a living care about it now since both sides are acting so whinny and passionate about it. And with the Tales Games tsunami that was happening during the anniversary, I almost left the community due to me not believing the books are within continuity. But with ITP Game flaming so many frustrating and *possibly* starting a New Stitchline, I end up coming back to enjoy more FNAF content while not caring about solving the lore. And I feel like that this entire community is treating the parallels argument like it’s heresy. And people would start being hypocritical by flaming theories from Matpat and John FuhNaff all because they don’t follow this same mentality where all believe that their minds have the definitive story set in stone, despite the fact that they’re just digging deeper into the books since it’s the only source for theorizing the games, they’re just antagonizing them because they don’t have the same brains as for example, Tales Games. And it’s where I feel like the theorizing community has created a silent killer in this town, and it’s a “echo chamber” And it’s that both sides are just gonna be repetitive with their claims and find a way to prove their points by using the same argument just so that people can accept their opinions. Another problem is antagonizing theories, especially how most people would say that the theory is “dumb” or “stupid” because it doesn’t fit their point about the lore. Seriously, I see people being so repetitive enough that it leads that they make assumptions and that they want to be selfishly correct. And I see one comment saying “Downvoted for telling the truth.” All I can say is that this echo chamber of the theory debate is totally egotistical and downright jealous towards people for not handling the lore in the way they want to. The way I see the Book debate is that it’s like how the Spanish colonies wanted the Native Americans to give up their religions and beliefs and start being like the Spanish and worship Christianity and Spanish culture. To me, I see it more as Book believers wanting the deniers to give up and start having the same beliefs as them. Personally, this community has developed an echo chamber where we get several theorists arguing over each other and reflecting their ego on people handling the lore in their own viewpoint. And I feel like the books had made the community go through a cognitive development with how they’re interpreting the books and the story itself. And this is where shit happens when Entom argued about Matpat using the FNAF Novel for lore while it’s still a scrapped story, and there we go with the Talbert Files. Seriously, I think it’s that people are being misguided by these books because they have inconsistenties, and that Entom’s leaks are either lies or misinformation. Speaking of which, the Talbert Files (imo) showed how this community had developed a cognitive system on the lore and are now flaming each other in how to handle the books. (Ever since the Talbert Files, I rather say not take what Entom says at this point.) All I can say is- FNAF’s story execution just sucks and that this community has several issues with what’s definitely a “theory” now.
Hello 👋 if it would be ok I'd like to ask to be part of discussion as well not necessarily in a video but I wanted someone to bounce my theories off of and someone to work with 😁
Re books/canon: I genuinely Fnaf think becoming a multi-media entertainment juggernaut while good for the franchise does make theory crafting hard. Take Crying Child's name in the movie. It's garrett plain and simple. However, we don't know CC's name in the games. Some think it's Evan(a name from the Faz Bear Frights books) or Dave(a recent popular pick gaining traction). What I think the community fails is in such different mediums liberties with the story and its characters are taken. Movie afton seems to understand how the animatronics are haunted and is the key to immortality and intentionally spring locks himself. We have no such case that game Afton knew that early on. I don't think it means anything other than that's what the movie went with to tell its story. Same with the orginal novel trilogy. I don't it's saying Charlie was alive in the game's timeline as a robot, but that's what those novels went with to tell its story. This brings me to another point: the books themselves. I once saw a survey a fnaftuber did, and they found those who read the books believe it canon to the games while those who did not don't think they're canon. Duh but that speaks to something bigger I feel about book games canon truthers: They want their time to be meaningful. This extra material you don't have to read HAS to be important why else does it exist? So they have to justify beyond "parallels"(a term I hate that it's always misused, but that's a different conversation) and say it is canon. Like Andew being TOYSNHK which implies stitchlines games, which is a whole can of worms I won't get into and does not matter for my point. What I am saying unlike those that don't read the books they have no skin in the game you get me? One example I will use to illustrate my last point is the character of Hudson from the Fazbear fright story What We Found. I no joke saw someone on twitter say the Fnaf 3 protagonist is actually Hudson and not Micheal Afton. Not even as an alternative but genuinely thinks that. It's one the few FB stories I DID read for myself so I do feel qualified to speak on this. I personally doubt it as not only does Hudson die not in fire and when Springtrap first shows ups. The story itself makes a point that spring trap reminds him of his abusive father. This is actually a valid "its a parallel" interpretation as it's clearly trying to make Hudson a stand-in for Michael. Not to mention the reactions of people being confused that its not who is closest thing we have to a consistent protagonist speaks for itself. Not to say it's wrong if you believe in Hudson(there is a Twitter thread out there that states why they think that, but it was not compelling to me), but when there are other things like the Logbook, it's in favor of Micheal. I tell this to say we all need to chill and calm down. Some of the things said to that poster were, in hindsight, rude and just so dismissive. I think we as a community can and should do better when trying to see new ways to look at what we think is the Fnaf story. I don't believe Hudson was the fnaf 3 protag but that's my reading of it and I won't harass anywho who thinks he is.
I just got to read all this today and I agree completely. There definitely is a bias in FNAF between really anything story wise and we need to figure out what is and isn't true. Though we also need to know what we can't figure out unless we get more information and hold on saying if something is or isn't in the fnaf franchise. Really good points here!
I like interacting with my community, plus I still don't want to allow it in my community! I want my community to be a place where anyone feels safe and welcome. Though I do have a new rule on just to not respond to them anymore, as in the video you can see the most recent one I responded to was about a month ago!
@@NarrowRaven I agree with your points but, I was more so talking about people who doesn’t wanna join because, of toxic comments. If you wanna join the fnaf community without taking the risk of reading the potential toxic comments, then just play the games, read the books, watch the movie, watch your favorite Fnaf tubers, make an AU, collect merch, ETC. You can also just talk about Fnaf with your personal friend/sibling if someone ever wants to join the Fnaf community without reading toxic comments.
@@captainet2457you could choose to do that, but simply ignoring the issue doesn’t make it go away. Even if there’s still toxicity in the community, at least we could lower that and strengthen the community to be better than before. I’m hoping this video will help others become a little more self aware and careful with their words and thoughts.
@@captainet2457 I agree with mellacorn a lot. Ignoring it can help but if there's nothing but toxicity around you, it can still affect you. So to try and make it better for people even in the slightest is a massive W for me.

No problem! It's a issue I've seen pop up a lot and has affected me too, so I thought I'd touch on it!
thank you for addressing the "Gregory is a Robot" I'm sick and tired of people shitting on MatPat just because he made that theory.
