Once I received my elekes and warriors, I couldn’t even imagine how someone would want to just buy these things without going through proper ceremony. There is so much involved in receiving these items and it involves YOUR participation, how can you not be present or want to be present for such beautiful ceremonies.

It has seriously helped me so much, I am interested in the Yoruba religion, and I wanted to get closer to my ancestors but I was scared that I'd do the wrong thing, and either disappoint them, not hear them or invite something into my space that I did not want to. I turned to this because I thought it would get me closer to them, which it will but as you mentioned that I had to acknowledge them and pay homage to them first. This has given me a boost of confidence to not be scared and to connect with them more, so thank you so so much for that. So I have been doing as much research as I could but it means nothing if I don't have a relationship with them first, and they have been sending me signs (angel numbers 111/222) ALL week and low-key month long lmao. So this has inspired me to take a turn and get more aquatinted with them and honor them through work and a variety of things, so again thank you so much for this video, I apologize for the long comment lol. I was falsely initiated, i feel heartbroken cause i did so much and it may have been with the wrong energy - last thing I want to do is disrespect spirit. I just want to find a babalawo here in the States and be properly initiated. I know in my heart I have good intentions and I was told before that I have high priest energy from a number of sources. I want to do all that aligns with my purpose. I had a whole Elleuga shrine sad to say that any of the work I put in may have been not effective. Here I thought I was building relationship doing so many sacred things that I wasn’t suppose to because of my ignorance. I want to make things right and become initiated for real.

I want to be initiated because it feels like home. Incredibly comforting.... so many people tried to "initiate" me over the phone and hit me up for money..... it felt wrong. I looked up this video because I have a trip that I have had a feeling will change my life coming up and I don't want to speak out of ignorance. I've been drooling over elekes for a few years now, but I knew better than to steal sacred objects from a place I don't yet belong to. I might not be initiated yet, but by the grace of the orisha and my ancestors, I have been kept safe and held safe space for those in need and... I just hope to be in. I've been researching for years as an outsider, an aboricha i think is the term? And, i would love nothing more than to be able to rock elekes and lead with my heart. At first watch, I did pause. I did dismantle my shrine. I still feel wrong without it. But I also know that the shrine was a feeling. A home for my heart to lay at rest when I get home from the long day or whatever happens. I came back to finish this video because I never want to be a colonizer or invader or be culturally appropriative and I would rather learn and have my feelings hurt than stay ignorant to the truth. Santeria is a derogatory name for Lukumi. They are not different religions. Also, bring fully initiated in Lukumi means you're an olorisha and priest of the orisha. We are then given the title of santera. Being an apetebi is to be a bride of IFA, and is not to be confused with bring fully initiated in anything at all. I'm not sure if you knew this, or were intentionally being deceitful, but I thought as an actually initiated santera, it is my duty to be sure audiences are aware of the misconceptions you shared.

Great question! Initiates who have recieved certain orishas can "work with them" they have the fundamentals to. People outside of the religion can petition them through candles bought from a botanical or initiate. I will do a video on this question because it's a very common concern.

Elekes also go through consecration during your ceremonies which gives them ashe. That's why they shouldn't be touched or worn by others besides you.
