Remember, the armed forces broke him out and were all armed. Command and control had collapsed. This is the key thing people forget when they blame Rawlings. Rawlings own words were this: "I came to cut a real revolution roughly in half". We keep blaming the fireman for the fire.

He slowly learnt to respect the Nkrumaist tradition, but be wary of them when the found out that they didnt see his more pragmatic ideologies as a valid 3rd way.
