Geez, you cut out the best moment, when he flies over the shopping cart into the pool! Buster put his all even into a dingy little promotional ad like this.
Now go watch Buster Keaton doing what he did in a diner on "Candid Camera". Besides his own antics, it's hilarious to watch those around him trying to keep it together as he absolutely destroys his lunch.

Brad-not sure how you could monetize it. Do the John F. Long folks know about it? Maybe offer up some “restoration” idea for them where you profit from. I understand they have a Foundation but I did a couple Maryvale projects in the 90’s and they weren’t very interested. The is a non-profit group called Maryvale UNITE that perhaps you could do something with as a fundraiser for them and profitable for you. The UNITE folks still serve all the old timers on the west side. Really cool footage. Please keep me updated.
Thanks for the ideas! I As far as the John F. Long company goes, I'd guess they have no interest in it, but I don't know. I've had these clips up for years, and you'd think they would have noticed. My only interest is in the Phoenix history, I have no interest in making a profit, but I'd like to see the film be preserved, and shared. This was a little throwaway bit of advertising in its day, now it's a precious part of Phoenix history. Hopefully someone will step up.

I had a friend RIP them for me, and was hoping to promote the sale of the DVDs, but I never heard back from the guy who made the DVDs. It's too bad, because I think he could have made some sales! The film is public domain (it was a promotional film, meant to be seen by the public as much as possible) and I've been pondering if I could see if I should figure out a way to make a DVD of the whole thing. What do you think? I'm open to suggestions!
@@BradHall I would really like to see the whole thing, it's wonderful to see Sir Buster himself in colour, and in a more modern environment than the 20s, I'm really loving these clips. Thanks for posting!
@@JasmineSurrealVideos Glad you liked it! Looks like the whole thing isn't available - I've been researching it, but I guess there's no reason for the John F. Long company to invest in selling it - it was just a throw-away that was used to sell houses. Fun, ain't it?!
Looking at that parking lot - so peaceful, so quiet, so serene. Nowadays, they break into your car, carjack you, rob you. Whatever happened to America? 😢
You are correct, Jasmine! This would be prior to the Civil Rights Act of 1968, a landmark law in the United States signed into law by United States President Lyndon B. Johnson during the King assassination riots.
@@markmaki4460 Yes I know I was half kidding. If you looked at any suburban development like this across the country in 1961 there would be no Black people just like here.
Before My Time But Still Splendid Memories...
Funny how he always wore the same baggy type pants, vest, flat hat etc. He was truly one of a kind.
That was the costume of his character. Like Chaplin's costume.
Just look at it now 😢

The music you hear at the beginning as the camera pans over the shopping center is the theme from the 1957 film “Peyton Place”.

Nothing was cut out. There is proof of the completed edit.
I recall my Mom collected books of S&H Green Stamps, for a toastet....which cost as much in 1965 dollars as a Chinese toaster costs today at Wal-Mart
Thank you.

I can only admire him. Just like Maxwell House Coffee.... He's "Good to the last drop"........

I don't mind getting old if I can be like Keaton was.

Well Phoenix was scarcely 3% Black folks when i grew up in Maryvale 20 years after this in the early 1980s.
