Jopping is actually lit. Beat, raps ,vocals,dances, visuals killed. Seems not everybody's cup of tea though. This song made my workouts x2 more efficient.

I think they shot themselves in the foot with how they structured the song. Like we all had crazy high expectations since it's basically SM's allstar team with a shit ton of money behind, and then they start the song with that epic ass brass only for everything to drop out. They kinda kill the hype they have built which makes a lot of people dislike it. I think it has like three really good songs in it but mashed together in this style just doesn't do it for me. Like the energy in the song never goes above the intros energy.
@@Mrsuperdestroyer That's interesting! I actually really really love that shift from heavy epic instrumentals to a very sparse beat. The first time I heard that, it just hyped me up more because it was so unexpected, and I loved that pared-down club beat combined with their rap and their vocals. Anyway, I think that needed to happen musically because they started out already so epic that there was nowhere to go from there unless they dropped down again. I don't think it kills the hype because then the song builds to a really great crescendo at the end with Baekhyun's soaring vocals, and all the adlibs and chorus underneath, finishing off with those heavy rock guitars. I loved the song!
But obviously not everyone will agree. To each their own! 🥰

I know jopping isn't everyones fav, I went into it feeling quite confused due to the whole drama especially being an exo fan. However, after listening to it I instantly liked it. So much I even bought tickets to see them lol. The lyrics can come off a bit cheesy but they remind me of older Kpop songs that I miss so much. Back when the English lyrics were bad but catchy haha. SuperM reminds me of the old mixed SM groups like Younique and SM the ballad! I think the whole album is great (I can't stand the rain is a work of art) and I'm excited to see what they do in the future as this is only the start for them. I like all the members a lot but im very happy to see Kai and Baekhyun happy and I will continue to support their hard work! Great reaction and I hope you guys will enjoy the concert! Cheer hard for my boys~
Yes! Cheesy kpop lyrics are the best! In the immortal words of Super Junior's Shindong in "Mamacita": "Close your lips, shut your tongue." Before that we never knew it was possible to shut one's tongue. The world has become a better place with this knowledge.
Same I said I won't support them bc it was hard for me as an EXO fan to support a new weird group, but after I saw the video and the show,, I bought concert ticket, albums, poster lol

I really appreciate your honest opinions. Before the mv came out, the song got leaked and there were several people (mostly antis) who said the song was bad, so I was scared the day the video finally came out. Jopping isn't a flop as many wanted to make it look, it's good in its own way, it is perfect for concerts and showcased the talent of each member (the vocalists, the rappers and the dancers/performers) and although at the beginning it didn't capture me at all because it wasn't my type of music, now I'm in the same mood that Ambitious Ace and I can't stop Jopping lol. Dame Diddy I hope your opinion changes with the concert hehe get fun guys!

To me, Jopping is an anthem for the group but also a safe intro to all the members cuz it showed off their main talents considering Taemin and Baekhyun got their high notes and the other members got their own rap sections, except for Lucas who didn't have much lines but he was showed just as much in the mv as the others. They went high in the production of the mv but at the same time it didn't seem over the top. But it's still a really great debut! I love the album!
Yes I feel like it was more of an intro of the group but other songs I do like as well not as much as jopping like not playing on repeat for me but I can listen to it once in a while tho but not my top favorite songs.

Yeah, shout out to my man Taemin!!! I was so curious how he’s going to fit into this group being such an unique soloist, but he is fabulous in this constellation! He shines very brightly with his vocals and dancing and honesty they all shine! I love the song - loved it from the first listen and it only grew on me ever since. My other favorite song is 2 Fast, very SHINee style and then it’s both Super Car and I Can’t Stand The Rain.

I'm legitimately obsessed with jopping, since the first listen. As a fan of movie soundtracks, and heavy rock...and sick beats/flows...this was the perfect introduction song for kpop's avengers!
Despite all the dramas from haters and fans not agreeing on SuperM, I still like Jopping and their B-side tracks are also good. It's a bop. It's a hype song. I am an SM stan from the start and I should support them.

I'm Jopping in my Honda Civic to the Chicago show. Dame Diddy's not tripping. I felt like the song skipped the chorus the first time I saw it, but I knew I liked it. I liked the song more second listen and now it's on my Save the World playlist. Anyone else have a feeling Dame Diddy'll be Jopping on the concert vlog?

Imo the reason it might sound “weird “ to people is because I think they did a good job combining the sounds of all four groups . Even in the mini album there was some songs I think “ this sounds liken a nct sound etc “
True! I thought it sounded more like an NCT 127 song overall but Baekhyun belting out notes & Taemin spinning gave me their own particular feeling.
I personally felt like they went over my expectations, I don’t know why but I was a bit skeptical, but I went crazy when I heard it. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. It just brings so much energy, and baekhyun’s damn high note, oh boyyyy

I disliked the song at first. Listened to it probably 30+ times over the following week. I'm in love with it now.
Is that because it's good and has grown on you, or because you kinda talked yourself into liking it, because you wanted to like it. No shade, but it is a possibility. I've lied a few times after having seen a very disappointing movie, that it was actually good and that I liked it, when I really didn't.

I feel it but not my top fave songs of Super M I like "Monster" "One; Infinity" more and "We do" this feel more like intro anthem of their debut of the group.
I loved the song, the lyrics, the dance, the visuals, the performance, everything. It was amazing! I wanted ego, confidence, performance, and that's what I got 😎. I can't wait to see the performances on tour 👍

Now to the reaction, lol. I agree with Diddy. I don’t know what your reaction to the mini-album was like but I have a feeling it was close to my opinion. Before anyone gets on my case for what I’m about to say; I LIKE SuperM. I’m seeing them in San Jose, I’m excited to see them.
HOWEVER. I was underwhelmed with the mini-album release. The MV aspects, as Diddy said did meet my expectations for something that comes from SM Entertainment but it did not meet them as far as how much this group was hyped up. I was expecting A LOT more...to be blown away really. Not to say these boys aren’t working hard, they definitely are, but I just wasn’t getting the reaction I was hoping to have. Maybe I set my expectations too high? Idk. I like Jopping and Can’t Stand The Rain on the mini-album the best, everything else is just OK to me. But yeah, that’s my two cents.

actually in terms of music production, this is a lot better than a lot of recent guy group releases that are just a garbled mess. but I can understand if you aren't into old school boy group type sounds, you wouldn't like this as much. personally a lot of kpop nowadays is getting to be generic trap synths that just try to go hard instead of clearly defining instrumentation or the originality of the music composition.

1. listening to a Performance song before watching the Performance probably not the best move
2. it's perfectly fine DD didn't enjoy it as much, everyone has different personal taste/opinions and that's alright so long as we're all respectful about it, but I feel like a lot of people mistakenly went into this expecting industry-advancing Music or another super-easy-to-listen-to-at-any-time-kinda-jam when this specifically and openly has been promoted for months as a PERFORMANCE song for a PERFORMANCE group
>Performance songs are the kinds where you would go out of your way to go back and Watch it rather than go out of your way to just Listen to it like a good example (for me at least) would be NCT's Black on Black
3. 99% of the time you go into anything with extremely high unrealistic expectations, you're gonna get disappointed LOL
4. pausing and talking over moments also detracts from what you can take away from reacting to something
5. as someone who was at the debut showcase, all the songsーincluding Joppingーperformed Live are on another level

Like other people in the comments, I appreciate honest reactions. When I first heard the song, I liked it musically and lyrically but the creation of this new word “Joppin” from popping and jumping honestly made me cringe. 😂 CRINGE. However, after watching the music video several times (because I LOVE the MV), the cringe factor has gone down quite a bit. I love these artists, and I feel like they brought their very best to this project. I respect that.
My only problem with the song is the words......they are beyond cheesy
diddy isn't crazy for not liking this song lol i respect the honesty! i agree with him tho, the video was cool but the song wasn't it for me unfortunately. i think it's the beat and the lyrics that i don't like. i do like taemin's and baekhyun's vocals tho. and the choreo was good but overall i was underwhelmed because there was so much hype and these men are talented that i expected so much more.
This group is a potentially explosive group (in an amazing way) because each member is beyond amazingly talented. The video is great and super enjoyable. BUT....song is very underwhelming. 🤷♀️ I was expecting something that hits a bit sharper and hard. Song is basic AF! It grew on me eventually but it's not a song I'm gonna look for on purpose. If it comes on I'll jam to it but it's not on my top for 2019 which I find so disappointing because I was super hyped about this. Sorry...but I agree with Dame on this. It's good but not great. Hopefully each comeback gets better which has happened before and it works. I'm hoping they are only showing a little bit of what's to come and not showing their all because if SM feels this is the best they could do with this group it's such an injustice! Lol

First of all I am ARMY. I dont have any Biases in the group. For me "Jopping" was just ok. Was decent with the visuals and the vocals. I like "Taemin" hes not bad on the eyes. I watched "Taemin and Jimin Showdown" I think they both were both equally talented in their dancing skills. The song itself and I mean the beat, it didnt have me " jopping" but maybe swaying. The dancing was ok nothing one of the top other k - pop groups couldnt have done the rest well not even worth mentioning. All in All even though it had a good beat Its definitely not going to take over K - pop world like they intended for this song. I dont hate it!
They come off as really cocky. "Avengers of Kpop". No one asked. SM just need a group to breakout into the western market because they couldn't do it with their original groups. You already know what I'm gonna say next right?

I love all these 7 guys and their respective groups. However, the term jopping is just dumb. Sorry. I said it. I think these 7 masters deserved better, more mature, lyrics. The “jumping and hoping we jopping” was way too Disney for me. I expected to see Zac Effron or something. Every single other thing about this song and MV are perfect, but “jopping” ruins it for me. IMO. Nobody @ me cuz you think I’m a BTS only fan. Not true. It’s cuz I have tremendous respect for these SuperM guys that I’m pissed at SM. said what I had to say.
I can agree with you to an extent. Jopping the word took some getting used to but some of the best songs have been made based on dumb words and lyrics. Its a hype song nothing more nothing less. Not meant to be serious or change the world. The same with Chicken Noodle soup with the soda on the side.
CocoChanel I can appreciate that, but CNS was a remake of a beloved authentic hip hop song. It was a nod to early 2000 hip hop dance culture. The origin of soup and soda is from real urban culture. Jopping is just like fetch. Stop trynna make it happen.
I respect your opinion. I absolutely love watching the SUPERM MV and have watched it 50x by now. I’m a huge fan of All members. Again, that’s why I wanted something more authentic and, frankly, more Korean, for them. I almost would have preferred they made up a word in Korean actually. Lol. @@Idknanmolla1 Yeah i know the history of CNS and i remember when it came out I thought that was a dumb title for a song while doing the dance lol. It happens. I'm just glad that there is so much coming from Korea to the U.S. There's enough room at the table for everyone I think. Again Jopping can be cringe for some who over think it but just like other songs from the past based on dumb words or built to hype it's not the first and wont be the last. I will agree though that I would've liked to have seen how a completely Korean title song from SuperM would have done. I can't stand the rain and No Manners are my faves from the album.

@@JDsayslol I wouldn’t say the current BTS english tracks lyrics are cringe …and they certainly aren’t trynna make up words. However, I will concede that the drive into the Western market limits their natural abilities (same as I said for SuperM). The only track I liked was Butter 🧈 which included a bit more rap than Dynamite or PTD. The all English songs don’t allow RM, Suga and Jhope to fully express because it’s difficult to translate their skills into English rap. I don’t think BTS has yet to get into clingy lyrics, but they are pandering a bit much to the western market and those songs are NOT my favorites by a lot.

The song is cool. Some transition especially to chours is a bit off.. But I still love it. The MV is pretty cool.. But not a big fan of the CGI dome and spectators~ Wish SM make better decisions for superM in the future

Also I'm with ambitious ace on this one! I don't think it's the best song I've ever heard but I do enjoy it a lot, it's just fun you know. Like since it came out I be jopping all day, I can only imagine how much fun it is to experience it live. Also their performance is just on another level, jopping isn't my favourite track of the album though, I like these big loud explosive songs for title tracks but they're not what I listen to most of the time. I'm kind of a bside person, it's where you find all the treasures

You can watch a live performance of "SuperCar" from their live premier at Capitol Records last Saturday, it's up on UA-cam. And they were so awesome on the ELLEN SHOW Thursday. I love this song so much. Favorite parts are Mark's rap (which was stuck in my head for days, like I woke up with it playing in my head), Baekhyun's high note and Ten's dance break near the end. I'm going to the Atlanta show and so looking forward to it.

No, they didn't buy tickets from scalpers. They were just worried that scalpers were gonna buy up all the tickets before they could get them. But they bought the tickets before that could happen.

Tbh when I first heard it, I disliked it too. It felt over the top and my first view of the mv it felt cheap. BUT they both grew on me. It’s not the greatest song they’ll ever release, but it’s also not going to be their worst. Giving your honest opinion gets people’s respect far more than you trying to appease us, so don’t feel bad.

this song slaps idk what yall are talking about lol. this song pushed the bar so far ahead, everything else coming out right now even sounds overdone and from the past. this song is so SM and they were right about this being the future. the arrangement is not a normal arrangement, so it can be polarizing for people who aren't prepared to hear something like that, but I swear, it gets better on every listen

I went to their showcase in LA, and I'm going to their LA concert.
I'm with you, Diddy - I was underwhelmed by the song, and the video just felt like leftover clips/effects from Superhuman combined with that really tacky fake arena set. The song has grown on me a bit as I've listened to it more, but compared to the previous songs from the guys within the group - Tempo/Love Shot, Want, Superhuman etc - it's just nowhere near as good.
It's a completely fine song, but an average offering isn't what should be the flagship of a kpop supergroup that is aimed to break into the Western market. It should be an exceptional song - and when you have a group with Baekhyun, Taemin, Kai, Mark, Taeyong, Ten etc - the vocals, the rap and the dance could be absolutely first class. They did get their moments to show what they're capable of, but they could do so much more with a better song.
Incidentally, I've loved the older songs you guys have been checking out, and would love to see you check out some more EXO and SHINee songs as a followup to this. But I'd also love to see you check out some classics - I don't believe you've looked into Girls' Generation/SNSD much, if at all (can't remember if you even saw Lil Touch when that dropped last year) and they're the Queens of kpop and definitely deserve to be explored by every fan.
They've reacted to a lot of SHINee on their Patreon (more so than any other artist) so I think they have a good feel for their career. They've listened to SNSD a little ( "I got a boy" on here) and "Gee" & EXO "Wolf" as part of their Throwback Thursday on Patreon but would definitely like to see them react to them more!

I would be a Patron for the boys but my bank account has been negative for a few months and I simply can't afford excess expenses for the time being. Hopefully when I move to Korea next year I'll be able to support the boys.

@Oliver Hughes Off the top of my head they have reacted to 2PM, Infinite, Brown Eyed Girls, Kara, Spica, T-ara, Rain...which they haven't reacted to at all here on UA-cam yet. Every Thursday they do a Throwback Thursday video, then on Fridays they do two live performances. They also do dance practices, album first listens, and "on the spot" videos where they listen to two requested non-title track songs that don't have music videos. There's more TVXQ! reactions, Dame's been watching a lot of Blackpink Diaries...there's more BigBang, BTS, Mamamoo live performances...live performances of Jonghyun & Onew.

i did not like it. Song was not IT. Why do i feel likeeee capital records asked SM to put a super group together to try to be the “new BTS” or bigger than BTS in America? I won't come at you 😊 I'm glad everyone's been respectful so far with all the differing opinions. Here's mine: Ateez "Wonderland" IS better but Stray Kids "Double Knot" isn't. Stray Kids felt more like a collection of sounds than a song. It's an assortment that is really growing on me, and I like, but still never comes together as a song for me. The Ateez song is a modern masterpiece....just beautiful.

Totally understand where you're coming from. I'm actually more, I like the song, not the video. Video was too much CG and the choreo was not represented well in the video. I'm a stickler for some great choreo (despite being a crappy dancer). There's a lot of division among those whole love the song and those who aren't on the same page. For me, I like the song and my favorite part is Baekhyun's high note. I don't typically have a favorite "part" in a song, its either I like a song as whole or I don't. To each their own I guess, but totally respect your opinion.

I was meh the first time I heard the song, and I found the video really distracting, but it's growing on me, getting stuck in my head. Find myself going back to it. That happened to me with EXO's Tempo too. I think it's just the massive changes in tempo in the song that make it a slow grow for me

I agree with Dame Diddy, Jopping was not what I was expecting it to be. The music video sells it better and it has moments, but as a whole, just the song on it's own is not my favourite debut song--especially with the amazing talent they have on their team.

It's the same for me. After Taemin's Vrroom it became one of my favorites.
