i was confused and terrified when a friend told me he watched the entirety of better call saul sort of in the background while playing video games and did a double take when he watched breaking bad and saw saul for the first time. also learned that he watched el camino before either show because his mom put in on for a family movie night. probably the worst possible order🤦♂
😮🤯 That is absolutely crazy!
Omg poor guy 💀
Better call saul bored me into having it as background noice too, i regret it now tho given that i might of recognised half of these characetrs if i had actually paid attention
@@Triple_Alliancethe second half of the show is really good but I can see why someone would do that
@@Triple_Allianceshow is dope. Gotta appreciate it
I love Jesse's reveal in Waterworks far more than his reveal in the prior episode. He seemed more like the Jesse we know from early Breaking Bad during his interaction with Kim. Also, the slow reveal of Gus in Witness is so expertly done, keeping him out of focus and then, even when in focus, keeping his head out of shot, and then finally his sudden "ripping off the band-aid" reveal when Jimmy is digging through the trash.
I agree completely! I mentioned this in a different video, but Jesse’s Waterworks reveal matches the Walt-in-Skyler’s-apartment reveal in the Breaking Bad finale almost perfectly. The camera moving slowly to reveal him behind the post… the timing of Skyler/Kim taking a puff of a cigarette and blowing out smoke…
You forgot about the Hector’s ring bell. Its reveal in BCS was a masterpiece
Indeed, I should have included that (and Saul’s ring). 😔
It's crazy because that simple gift from Lalo ended up being the instrument of Gus' demise. It's as if it represented Lalo himself taking part in Hector's revenge on Gus. So good.
Nacho is a very common nickname for Ignacio, if you knew that you would have known that Nacho’s realname was Ignacio all along
True! I had heard that later, but I didn’t know that at the time.
Nachos get their name from the guy who invented them lol Ignacio
Yeah he gets called that by his dad
I didn’t realize that until I asked my ex-gf why her dad was called “nacho” lol
> only two mexican characters in the show
> named Taco and Nacho
Bravo Vince!
The pig and zafiro anejo were truly the deepest characters of better call saul, the development and writing of these characters were truly the deepest of all time, bravo vince (and gould) 👏 No but seriously though, great video man.
FR
Indeed, and thank you, PumDux!
Gus Fring's reveal is imo the best one. It's perfect!!
Maybe! Definitely the most dramatic! It was really hard for me to rank them!
His reveal in both BrBa and BCS are both similar and great. He comes off as a harmless fast food manager.
Personally id rank the Tuco reveal a bit higher. Its really a little gut-punch "Oh SHIIIIIT" moment - and the fact that it happened at the very end of the very first episode, maaaaan. Its definitely up there for me with the Hector reveal (that bell ring before he enters, just so dope) and the gradual Gus reveal. Walter and Jessie are obviously also top tier, for the simple fact that its...well Walter and Jessie.
Fair. I guess I could see ranking that above Huell at least!
@@betterwatchtvNo. No one disrespectd Huell!
That poor teacher had to be there for two of the most awkward scenes in the series in terms of being an observer.
Haha. She handled it well!
fun fact: that's actually vince's wife.
I watched Better Call Saul up until season five (six was not yet out) before Breaking Bad, and while the BCS reveals were obviously lost on me, I did experience the reverse when watching Breaking Bad. Probably the biggest thing, though, was getting to know Saul first as Jimmy and not the person he would eventually become.
That part is really interesting when (re)watching Breaking Bad after Better Caul Saul. And realizing how instrumental Saul was to everything. Thanks!
Literally did exactly the same
idk, I felt like jimmy was shallower in bb than in bcs which makes sense but still.
@@dubl33_27 He definitely was. That's how it was written to be. Saul Goodman was his facade after Jimmy's cartel trauma and pain of losing Kim. He was a person in BCS. He was a character in BB.
Dude as a video editor, this content is absolutely fantastic. There really is just no way you don't blow up. Keep it up!
High praise! Thank you very much!!
Ofc! Will be a regular here from now on, no question.@@betterwatchtv
Awesome! Thank you so much!
The pullback reveal of Los Pollos in Better Call Saul always reminded me of the slowly revealing overhead shot of the prison in The walking Dead. They both seem to share the same type of suspenseful music. Which i suppose makes sense considering they're both AMC shows.
Ah, interesting parallel!
@@betterwatchtv I thought so too lol. Crossover certified 😂

sad fact: mike never had the chance to say goodbye, and she will never know about his sudden disappearnce..
It is very sad to think about it from Kaylee and Stacey's perspective. Do we know if the truth about Mike ever became public?
@@betterwatchtv I don’t know about Mike’s death, but in the last episodes of Better Call Saul, Kim Wexler wrote that Mike was at Gustavo’s house or something like that when Lalo killed Howard and ordered Saul to kill Gustavo. And everyone seems to know that Mike was Gustavo's "guard", at least Hank said so. So they probably know that Mike was "in the game" Sorry if there are mistakes, I am writing through a translator
@@betterwatchtvit's heavily implied in the end of better call saul when Kim makes her confession, I don't know if they specifically said in the show that it is public knowledge, but with the DA's office knowing, and Cheryl definitely wanting people to know, I think it probably did go public
The teacher who comforts Kim on the bus is played by Vince Gilligan's partner, Holly.
Yep, amazing! I learned that from comments, otherwise I would have definitely mentioned it! Thanks!
I started off watching Better Call Saul since I already knew some Breaking Bad spoilers and didn’t think it was worth watching. Watching Better Call Saul first made it fun for me since I had no idea how it was going to go and what were going to happen to certain characters. Then after I finished Better Call Saul a friend convinced me to watch Breaking Bad I was hesitant at first but I watched it, it was great seeing characters come back from Better Call Saul who I wasn’t sure were going to be in Breaking Bad. Even knowing some of the spoilers I still knew so little about the Breaking Bad universe and it was a great watch.
That’s cool. I can respect that!
I have so many questions to ask lol, but curious as to watch show you preferred?
The bestestest editing and video! Nice one. I also like how the text color is purple when Marie is shown.
Thanks! Gotta honor Marie despite her appearing in black and white!
a little detail of BCS that I love that you didn't put in the video is that they show how Crazy 8 got his nickname, in a poker game with Lalo
True! I do plan on a Better Call Saul Hidden Details series, one per episode (like my Breaking Bad series), so I’ll have time to include it then!
I love your thought process into each character
Thank you very much!
How doesn't this have more views?? What a fantastically well put together video!!
Thank you so much! It takes time, but I think the views will come… thanks to comments like yours!
Ikr, you think the thumbnail choice would've worked
I was really surprised to see you "only" have 2k subs. After watching the whole thing, I would have expected at least 200k. Keep up the great quality!
Thank you!! I’m still pretty new at this, so it wasn’t long ago that I hit 1,000. I’m trusting the algorithm and continually trying to improve!
dude I haven't watched a more interesting video in a whiiile, not just breaking bad or bcs based, but a video in general. Huge props to you for spotting those easter eggs I love it
Wow, high praise! Thank you so much, Xeisenberg!
The 🕵🏻♀️ Clue and Glimpse 👀 with sound cues is so charming. It really brought me back to when I was Leo DiCaprio 👈 pointing at the screen in these moments years ago 😂 Fantastic Video
I watched BB first but I completly forgot that the weapons dealer was part of BB, but distinctly remembered him from his awesome scene with Mike in BCS. That was a nice reveal haha
Yeah, it’s funny the details we forget over time! Thank goodness for Netflix!
Really good video and list! I would have put Lawson a bit higher because he's one of those characters that truly make this universe feel alive. And his introduction in BCS symbolizes the showrunners dedication to keeping that universe feeling alive since they could've just created a different character. Also he's just such a cool character. You expect an illegal arms dealer to be at least a bit menacing but he's just friendly and ultra-professional, which is WAY more interesting.
Good points! I also felt that dedication from characters like Officer Saxton and Nurse!
@@betterwatchtv Totally agree! If Vince and the gang decided to make a third show, what would you have it be about? :)
It’s hard because everyone is so much older now. I could kind of see a Gus prequel, but it would have to be a different actor. Something with Kim… either prequel or sequel.
Lawson was one of those who appear in both shows and is deep in the game yet survives.
really amazing work my dude. I like your descriptions of the characters
Thank you, vash47!
You have some of the best editing on this site, keep up this amazing work.
Thank you very much!
fantastic video! excellent editing and insightful analysis
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it!
Awesome video as always! The concept, the editing, the writing, every thing is just so good in the video, I impressed everytime you make a 20 minutes long video, and It feels like 2 minutes long video. Keep up the good videos!
Idea for an emoji to channel members: Walt's laugh from S4E11, can be awesome for a "joy" emoji
Wow, thank you! And great emoji idea. I do worry about my ability to pull that off in such a small emoji form, but maybe I can try doing it as a small photo!
@@betterwatchtv np :)
I'm surprised Badger and Skinny Pete don't show up, but, I'd say they got a great send off in El Camino. Loyal best friends, no questions asked, just on a mission to help a bro out.
It's funny seeing actors who lost weight between BB and BCS, because in universe, it implies they gain weight.
Agreed! And that is funny… and perhaps more realistic! Most normal people probably gain weight over time vs. people who become famous and lose weight!
Yeah, Todd was thin in Breaking Bad, but in El Camino he became fat, although they show the same timeline
Great video! Another appearance, although not in Breaking Bad is David Mattery who appears in Better Call Saul season 1 episode 9 'Pimento' as the third bodyguard for Danny, character name Mountain Man. He also appears in El Camino as the bodyguard of the workers that visit the warehouse
Thanks! Yep, he and Suzanne Erickson both have that distinction!
The Lalo reveal is so good
It is! The song gets stuck in my head!
This is really well put, I hope you get more attention in the future, keep up the great work!!
Thank you very much! 🙏
Super well edited, I loved it!!
Thank you very much! 🙏
What a fantastic video!!
Keep going man this should blow up soon
Thank you!! The algorithm is spreading it, slowly but surely! Your comment helps!
Huell technically has a very small role in El Camino. Before El Camino premiered, there was a countdown video that focuses on what Huell was doing in that safehouse while Hank and Gomez are in the desert arresting Walt. Huell waited forever for them to comeback until the news comes in about a massacre(referencing the events in Felina) and after that, Huell finally leaves the safehouse then the camera close in on a tv revealing that El Camino has finally premiered.
Ohhhh! I had no idea!
🔥 video didn’t notice a majority of these
Awesome, thanks!!
This video reminded me why I love this series so much
It really adds so much to the experience!
A small correction on 4:00, Nacho is a diminutive usually given to people named Ignacio, it's not a reveal that takes 7 episodes, its a reveal that was very subtle.
Very true! I had no idea at the time. 🙂 Thanks!
This is a really cool video! Thank you! 🏆
Thank you for the comment!
I have just noticed that Hanks and Gomies car says “Ice Interceptor” with the Police being half covered with black tape or something. That is just top notch detail there again
Yep, that’s a good one!
In Pimento, ‘the giant’ that ran away from Mike made an appearance in El Camino as he somehow have connections with Neil Kandy and Casey ( the 2 fake policemen Jesse deals with)
Clarence! Along with Suzanne Ericsen, they're the only two in both Better Call Saul and El Camino without being in Breaking Bad!
I watched BCS first before BB and I regret it because of these character reveals but still it was super good to watch it that way. VG is so good in writing details to the point where I want more from this universe
12:30
I love that detail. The pizza is layered over the text
Thanks, SaltyHQ!!
Hi thanks for the video and great research, for the longer entries your editing works very well, but for the shorter entries it's disoriented with the barrage of different sounds and music (i.e. the beginning characters in the video).
Thanks for the feedback! I was reluctant to spend too much time on characters nobody cares about, but I'll see how I can do better in the future!
This deserves more views
it's been 30 minutes
Haha, I was just going to say, “Thank you, but it’s still early!”
Great Video! Deserves way more views :)
Thank you! Maybe it will get there eventually, thanks to comments like this!
Great video
Thank you very much!
Another banger every week
Serious comment this time, your use of color composition and the subtle editing techniques you use for organizing each topic is unrivaled. Same quality I would expect from BCS. Excellent work
Wow, thanks x2 (or 3 or 4), Gabe!!
amazing video and crazy to see that youre still responding to every comment. bravo.
Thanks!! I try! Sometimes the app doesn’t show me certain comments so I probably do miss some!
The video's a bit late today, as the size of the project kept crashing my computer! 🤦♂ I hope you enjoy it!
Great Video! I can't believe that you have only 2000 subscribers
Thanks! It wasn’t long ago that I reached 1,000, so with your help it will keep growing!
The big body guard guy with a funny beard who ran from mike in that parking scene was in el camino deserves an honorable mention, i’m not sure if her was in breaking bad tho
Indeed, that's Man Mountain. He's not in Breaking Bad, but he *is* in El Camino! Maybe I need to do a video about BB/BCS characters in El Camino!
great video ❤
Thank you, Tim!
My favorite character is PIG. The writers really gave him all the lore. Bravo Vince
Like Hector, he was able to give a memorable performance without very many lines.
@@betterwatchtv Exactly! I couldn't have said it better.
dude the bell right before hectors reveal in bcs is genius just noticed it
Yeah, I only noticed it on a second watching because it blends in so well if you don’t know he’s coming!
You forgot Walt’s car. You can see it in the background when Saul visits the school in the breaking bad episode
That was a cool scene, although it was after the Walt reveal. Or do you mean I should count it as a character? :) Thanks for the comment!
Kuby (Huell’s “partner”), while not shown in BCS, is still mentioned during Saul’s call with Francesca Liddy at the payphone
True. I made the arbitrary decision to count characters only mentioned in BB but shown in BCS, and not the opposite. Looking back, I’d say it was the wrong call!
20:55 I get where you're coming from but the words "Wow look what happened to Spooge" where spoken for the first time in this video, either that or you just set off a Sleeper Agent somewhere
How did you manage to put them in a line? Fantastic!
Thanks, although I’m not sure what you’re referring to! 😅
Thers actually a deleted scene in bb were saul talks about his third marriage (kim) wnd the day afters their break up. I dont remember the season, maybie 3, is when walter separate from skyler, thats a super easyer egg
Ah, yes… What did make it into BB S3 E4 was a 2nd wife reference. If that 3rd wife reference wasn’t deleted, I would have had to include Kim as an official Breaking Bad character!
Unless Im wrong, Im pretty sure one of the magnet guys in live free or die is in a bcs episode. I don’t know which episode but its when the guy is in the bathroom and thinks saul is talking to him when saul is just on the phone.
Wow…. I guess the Bingo episode! Man, I thought I had them all! Thanks!!
Marie in the Better Call Saul finale was amazing but I also love the cameos from Jesse and Walt in the last two episodes. Gomez and Hank made season five so awesome.
Yes, I loved Hank and Steve's parts!
Eladio's first scene in BCS was so good I nearly yelled when I saw it
YES!!!
You missed Todd. Jesse Plemons character from both Breaking Bad and El Camino.
This video is about BB characters in BCS, so that's why he's not included. (El Camino was only brought up for characters who happen to be in all three.)
BCS is the greatest prequel ever made. It is also a midquel and sequel as well, and actually begins and ends as a sequel to BrBa.
I never once thought the BrBa cameos were forced whatsoever. They were perfection. I am so very lucky I got to watch this amazing series as it aired from winter of 2008 to fall of 2022. 14 years of my life was given to this series and I am grateful.
Amazing. The cameos were what inspired me to start this channel! Thanks for the comments!
I wanna let 5 years pass to kinda forget the details of the shows and then watch Better Call Saul up until Season 6 Episode 10, then watch all of Breaking Bad and then finally the last few episodes of BCS
That’s definitely a cool thing to do for a rewatch!
Nice job with the thumbnail on this one
Thanks! 😅
Cool video btw
Hector is in the top 10 for sure. He just comes over so menacing
Yes, and I also give points for the length of the reveal (and bell clue)!
Salamanca twins had one of the coolest returns in my opinion
Well, it definitely fit their style!
I gotta ask, what did you use to make the voice counting down the numbers (or where did you get them from)? It's really ear-catching!
I used an AI voice from Descript (her name is Nancy :) ) and then in Final Cut Pro applied the Vintage Radios and Large Room audio effects. Thanks for the question!
Lydia was also mentioned in El Camino
Yep, my thought at the time was to save El Camino references for a different video (although I did end up bringing it up for the characters in all three)
This is a great idea for a video but to be honest (this is just my opinion i still think this is a great video) i wish that it was rather just a general ranking of the breaking bad characters in BCS rather than a ranking of the reveals.
Thanks for the comment! It turns out this video is a redo of my very first 6 videos (one per season) where I attempted to do it that way. Although I tried to rank the character solely on their BCS appearance, which ended up being weird. (Most are glorified extras without the BB context.) So ranking their character across all shows could be the way to go!
Every time the clue sound effect plays I want to hit a wall
Is that good or bad?
Lalo's reveal should be higher. One of the most chilling and hilarious scenes in the whole show
That’s fair! It was tough trying to rank them!
The first time I watched breaking bad, El Camino and then better call Saul. On rewatches I watch most of BCS (until just before the last few episodes in black and white) then breaking bad, then El Camino and then the last few episodes of BCS
Perfectly valid!
Nice video
Thank you!
@@betterwatchtv underrated imo
Thanks again! I guess that’s better than the alternative! 😅
It's interesting that Marie, who's a main character in Breaking Bad, had her best scene by far in BCS.
Very true!
The best series to ever grace mankind

Isnt this the episode he stops featuring in in BB?
I guess it depends how you count it. This was the last episode where he appeared in the present, but still showed up later, such as in the karaoke video in Problem Dog!
Great vid man, but you forgot that hank degrades the fuck out of wendy in front of Walter jr when marie thinks hes on pot in season 1. Still did not take away from the great video overall man! New sub
Thanks!! I do mention that unfortunate Hank incident in my “…and the Bag’s in the River” breakdown video. I like to think he grew as a person over time!
My partner watches BCS before BB, or rather were watching BB right now. Most reveals definitely just fly over their head, but stuff like Hector suddenly being there did definitely land
Interesting!
It’s only now that I realize the police interceptor badge on hanks car was tampered to read ice interceptor. Very humorous
Yeah! So many little details!
WOW there's always someone who is more obsessed with the TV shows
😂😅
The teacher/Kim supporting bus rider is played by Holly Rice, Vince’s long term gf and namesake of Holly White.
Indeed, I learned this after posting this video! Thanks!!
Good stuff is the man who played Tim Roberts also was in season 3,4,5,6,7 season of The Shield as a Chief commandor.
Nice. Did not know that!
WHAT, The Baseball cards guy is Danny? That is mind boggling
Yeah, confirmed by writer Thomas Schnauz! They wanted to have him appear later running the laser tag, but didn’t find a way to work it in.
This video shows us some very deep and never before seen insight into the BB/BCS universe right off the bat. We can see the deep and depressive spiral of a man who once, years ago, followed an ordinary life as a construcion worker. However, once the staged freak accident with Jimmy occured, and, while he may not have shown it first, the worker fell into a dark spiral of depression and trauma, to which the only cure was joining the criminal underworld. What makes this story truly poetic, however, is his death. He is seen dying at the hands of Mike Ehrmantraut, a man very closely associated with Jimmy himself, making this story come to a full circle. Not only that, but a mere few seconds later, we can see that a similarly bad fate has befallen Brenda, another person known to Jimmy and the whole of HHM. Bravo, Vince.
Haha, awesome! Worthy of a spinoff to explore this more deeply?
Hector's bell and Saul's ring were mentioned in the comments. But what about the Cadillac!? LAWYRUP
True, that's a good one with its own good reveal!
the amount of times i said "HOLY SHIT" watching this show is crazy, alot of these refrences made me laugh or shocked, the funniest one is definitly the one when he wakes up with the girl telling her he was kevin costner of all people
Yep! All these references is what inspired me to create this channel!
Really fascinating watch but it feels a bit odd that you explicitly add El Camino if they appear there too but not if they appear EC/BB only. EC‘s cast is not that huge so a kind of bonus section would have been nice. Also it‘s odd that the BCS team didn’t choose to give Kirsten Ritter a cameo. She has a drug background so consulting a lawyer seems logical especially how much her father cares. Also her character is the main reason Mike actually exists. The clean-up scene where we meet Mike first in BB, features him because of filming conflicts with Saul
Good points! This is still the longest video I’ve done, and at the time I was worried about making it any longer. I would do some things differently now, and a bonus EC section makes a lot of sense! Yes, a Jane appearance would have been cool! Thanks!
I think you forgot Howard Hamlin, he was under the superlab with Lalo in brba the whole time(just joking, great video)
Thanks! 😂 (In my Season 3 title meanings video, I make the same joke!)
the fact that Emilio appeared in the very first episode of this universe AND the second-to-last one is kinda crazy. Also, he hasn't changed much in more than ten years
Yeah! Although he is in favorable lighting when he reappears! 😂
you'd think tuco killed No-Doze for no reason at all, until you watch better call saul 🤣🤣🤣🤣 then you're like "ohh, now i get why he was so mad"
🤣 That was an awesome addition!
Yeah even though it's a prequel and technically the watching BB after BCS should make sense from a story perspective, watching BCS after BB is a much much better experience. Especially if you watch BCS immediately after BB so events and characters are fresh in memory.
Great video mate. I picked up most of these when I was watching. Just a few really obscure/difficult ones like Brenda and Spooge that I missed.
Thanks!! I agree about watching BCS immediately after. I can’t decide when is the best time to watch El Camino. Maybe roughly when it was released relative to BCS. Because I found it most effective as a nostalgic look back to the BB finale, and I don’t find it super interesting beyond that nostalgia.
@@betterwatchtv agreed. For me, El Camino provides closure for Brock’s storyline - which I wasn’t expecting but happy it did. I wasn’t really looking for any more for Jesse or anyone else: Jesse had a good ending in BB that was more than enough.
Well said!
@@betterwatchtv one other thing I liked in BCS is how some characters reappeared within BCS / El Camino with some continuity. Like Man Mountain clearly didn’t ever want to work in personal security after Mike scared him off and became a bouncer/pimp later. Same with Sobchak who moves on to detective work. And the 3 UNM students always being on call for shady AV work 😀
Indeed, that was a nice touch!
Victor's reveal was super smooth I remember going "Ohhhhohhohhhh!"
Yeah! 😁
I am one of the people that saw better call saul before breaking bad, and honestly, I didn't know who Hank or Marie was until I started Breaking Bad. those last few episodes of the last season of better call saul should have had some kind of warning or something, half of it made no sense cuz I didn't have context from breaking bad and I wish i'd known at the time to watch breaking bad before those last 4 (5?) episodes of BCS
Thank you! I assumed that would be the experience, but I haven’t heard anyone else confirm this so clearly!
i love your montage for fuck sake !
Thank you! 🫡 Was much more difficult to finish than I anticipated!
You missed one, in Ozymandias Walter buy truck from native American, he and his truck both make appearance in BCS episode 'Carrot and Stick' as costomers of Kettlemans tax preparation company, Betsy is seen talking to him.
We’ve got official confirmation that they were not meant to be the same character, despite the amazing truck coincidence: x.com/tomschnauz/status/1516630960581738497
Gus has to be number one for me
also the idea of geeking over a fast food restaurant reveal in front of someone who hasn't watched breaking bad is quite funny
Also commenting on people who watch better call saul before breaking bad: I genuinely think if you're completely new to this, it's better to watch BCS first (minus the last 4 episodes obviously)
Sure you don't get as many character reveals as you would, but in the breaking bad pilot, you are immediately introduced to Krazy-8, and not too much later, Tuco, and then in season 2 with Gus, Saul and Mike
But you also gain so much by watching it first, Nacho and Lalo's storylines both are amongst my favorite, but it's fairly clears what their fates are (especially Lalo), and having the tension between Gus and Lalo and actually not knowing who comes out on top is gonna make it even more intense.
Also the backwards reveal of Gene, and knowing that he survived Lalo and the cartel, and just wondering how it ended up like this, gives you a pretty nice idea of just how chaotic Walt is
anyway this is too long, i will stop yapping
Haha, yeah, the Gus thing is probably one of many things to geek out about that would cause some people to question your sanity! But I do see your point about some of the advantages!
good video
Thank you!
