This is probably the result of him spending recent years in the byway, a little secluded and private, not trying to re-acquire a new kind of notoriety easily, quickly and the cheap way. I like his humble approach despite his memorable results and achievements. He is very honest, authentic, genuine and positive at the same time. Awesome.

Fantastic video! I worked for Larry Scott in the early 80's...1982 Larry went for a photo shoot for a Weider magazine...he met with Tom Platz at World Gym...he came home and completely changed the way he did squats...the rest of the gym members of course changed also! That energy Tom has was infectious!
This guy has so much energy and is so so positive!! He has nothing but good things to say! Schools should hire him to speak to all the kids on life and their futures!! All parents should want a guy like him to speak! He still is one of the hardest trainers ive ever seen! This guy was a true animal in the gym!! Ive been going all over always training at different gyms for may years now and I still if ever see anyone come close to train like him!! They are far and in between! I never get board of watching him train or on stage! So much energy!! His legs today are still some of the best if not the best overall legs from top to bottom ever developed!! I relate to him so much because of his "over the edge" positive attitude and training ethics in every which way and to never give up! After working out for almost over 40 years now myself, this guy still inspires me! Yet have I won a show, but I keep going and going and have the hope / drive because of guys like him! I love Tom's passion. You know what makes me really sad is that our physical and mental peak only lasts a really short time. After that it's downhill, you're fighting time. The gift of youth is a precious thing and doesn't last nearly as long enough as it should.

I agree I was super driven in my 20.s and part of my 30's and hit my goals. I had obstacles to the left and right, but I was so driven i overcame those obstacles.

Our gym flew Tom in for a talk/pose in '83. A surprisingly bright gentleman. He laid it out, telling us a bit about the "front" of Weider and the behind the door reality of b-building. He was coming off a bicept tear so his training was impaired (if he was smaller because of it I damn sure didn't see it. Until you've stood beside one of the pros..... I'm glad his life has worked for him. There's so much in this talk for anyone who can hear it.
