I felt it important to say that I put a pair of reader's glasses with the ear stems removed in to these quite easily. They stay in the nearby area but lay perfectly on my nose. I've seen other do the same. Worked well on my Furibee VR01 goggles too but required two tiny bits of Velcro on ends. Please don't make glasses wearers think these goggles won't work for them. This solution is not at all inconvenient. Very good review otherwise. Thank you.

Now available with an expander where it slides apart. Easy to place a 4s cell battery pack in a shirt pocket for extended time. The micro drones I use have a short flight time and I am done after 45 minutes and still lots of battery in the Eachine EV800D. I am not a everyday flyer and this is a very good hobby goggle for occasional use. Finding AWOL drones is easier if you place a tile synced to your phone. Finds lost keys, so unclip it from your key chain and tape it under the drone. It beeps with a 120 m range. Eachine is a good company that builds on it's products to make them better. E58 has had a number of upgrades in cameras and now available with 4K. The expander is another great upgrade for better visibility.

Dear Andy, I enjoy and learn a lot from you,
i need your advise, I am going to get a nice goggle like fatshark HDO later, but for my first goggle , do you recommend these ev800 ones? or your experience says that i'll be better if i start with fatshark and skip these cheap goggle ?
bare in mind the HDO is not available now and i really like to start fpv asap, thank a lot
by the way do you know if eachine pro dvr (external one ) is going to work with ev800 ?

I'm coming back very late to this review to point out a minor miracle.
When I decided to FPV a toy RC truck I bought a set of these _on the basis of this review_ so I could use the monitor myself (wonky eyes) and have goggles for other drivers. That worked well for a couple of days and I even used the goggles as goggles to give a very "fuzzy" attempt at FPV driving.
It turns out however that a 'surplus to requirements' set of 6x magnifying glasses (supplied free by a friendly optician) not only fit perfectly into the appropriate gap (just in front of the faceplate) but with the fixed fresnel lens almost exactly match the focal length of my infamously wonky eyes.
    I am now, finally, a proper fpv-er!

Hi! thanks for the review! I'm looking for my first fpv goggles and I'm trying to decide between this two. My concern is that I use glasses for miopy. I tried the Skyzone v01 from a friend and I can see perfectly with them. Do you think that I can use any of this? which one would be better? thanks!!

Andy, does it feel nose heavy with the battery built into the front of the goggle compared to the VRd2? Coz the one thing the VRd2 got spot on was the smaller size and light weight.
Does that extra heft from the built-in battery get uncomfortable after some time?

The HD resolution from the HM-DVR just plays with interpolation from the native D1 PAL or D1 NTSC format .... For me the EV800D builtin DVR is far better ....and simple to use.... Cheers Andy :)

Most standard reading glasses will fit on inside edge of view opening which will compensate for near sighted folks. It seems to close for healthy eye use even though you may adjust hold goggles at distance to see differennce and use reading glasses glued in with silicone if req' Good dvr compared to v2 fatshark doms

To record on the D2 you don't need to go into the menu. In your normal fpv feed the record button works aswell, you just don't see that it is recording unless you check or keep track.

I have the original ev800's and I've been very happy with them, however the charging jack has recently started to give up, its so tiny and weak and to me its the only bad thing about the goggles. This would be a concern with the 800D's as if/when this plug fails you can't use the goggles, I would choose the other one. Thanks for the review

    Hi Andy
Just getting started with race quads and got a wizard x220 as intro to the hobby will be flying with app on smart phone to begin but obviously I'm in the market for some fpv goggles. I wear glasses so am limited to the box type. I'm on a budget so as many do not want to waste money but also can't really justify spending a huge amount of money. I've done a bit of looking into different makes and came across a company called Crazepony who have a set of goggles that seem to be supplied with better antennas so no need to buy extra parts to get them do the job they are meant to do unlike most budget products where you end up buying extra or swapping out parts to make them work properly.
Have you ever reviewed any products from this company as there isn't many reviews for these goggles. Any comments/opinions would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance Clive

Anyone has a black screen problem on these goggles? I struggle a lot to get them connected to my drone frequency because they frequently just show a flat black screen instead of the image. I have to change frequency on the drone and keep searching on the goggles until finally I can see the image. It's annoying because sometimes it takes five or ten minutes of me changing channels to finally have an image. Any help?

    Eachine EV800D DVR problem
When inserting micro SD card in goggles (not drone), a vision signal is losing after 10sec. In fact, power is automatically shut down. Then I need to press a power button to turn on. Without using a microSD card, the vision signal seems to be stable.
My friend bought the same, and had same issue. He asked Eachine to send new one due to initial failure.
In conclusion, please tell me how to fix a problem if anyone had same issue. I use beta flight, Beta65X HD, Frsky. Otherwise I may need to ask Eachine company to send me new one!!

I am forced to buy the EV800D because the other vr008 and those bunch's AV input is compatible with no receivers in the market. But I need the AV input from receiver on the car roof so that I can hide inside my car while the deed is done. Real pros always hide in the car. Look up Mark Spencer Blackpool .

Started to make a small comment and it turned into a book detailing my decision.. so it would be documented for me somewhere if needed or in case a stupid amount of research helps out some other poor bastard like myself look in the sub 100 dollar range: I've researched until I'm about to pass out.. (If I told you how long you would not believe me anyway... what I do to save 10 bucks is ridiculous). I think I will go with these 800d's for my first pair. RC is getting better and cheaper all the time, if later I decide I like other tech. Not a good move for me to go with something expensive now. Diversity and DVR were important and the DVR is easy to use here vs other offerings. Lots of people liked the screen. If for some reason I am too farsighted, ebay sells extensions for these. Down the line these are easiest for others to use as both a goggle or monitor (as a spectator, _guaranteed_ to work one way or the other for any sight challenged person). Monitor mode is also great for reviewing the dvr while looking for your lost aircraft (..ya know... for... a "friend") 。(*^▽^*)ゞ
I found that to be a big plus none others really offered. You can watch through others but you pretty much need to put them on and can't show others while you do it. You can walk and search while you watch. The battery in front seems like the big downside to something already long and large.. "and BLACK! (ノ^∇^)ノ゚ ....No? (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑) .... Tough crowd, tough crowd. I'll show myself out." But no one seems to realize you can simply *remove* it and _use the cable it came with for this purpose,_ to mount the battery in the back or in your pocket or wherever you like... or use a larger battery too! If for some reason I am incorrect and it needs the forward battery to work, there is no reason you could not extend the wires to wherever you like if you are handy. If you are not handy or rich? Stop... step away, slowly, from RC right now. So this model is clearly the most practical choice.. without being able to actually put a bunch of pairs on in person and try them.. (who knows maybe they will make me sick haha.)
    This was my roundup:
    -EV800d: see above.
-ev100: very narrow FOV (28-30). more expensive. No DVR.
    -ev800: no diversity or dvr.
-VRD2 pro: The benefit of a battery in the back is because (for reasons already stated)...not a benefit the 800d's _don't also_ have... Unless you are a moron. (Morons would not read this far so you're good... probably). Don't come apart for other types of viewing. The diopter adjustment sounds like most people almost always adjusted it all the way to the same distance the 800d are anyway. Crappy dvr navigation. Overall only a slightly lower choice for me, even if I sound like I'm ripping them. Both VRD2 and 800d were reported in many different places to have very good reception for a cheap goggle. If I had to guess, these two would tie for top place on my list for reception, and probably have identical guts. Both were reported by many who have since upgraded to still be a favorite they bring along, and a no regret buy. I think the non pro version or some earlier version had fake diversity but I'm stretching my memory now. (2 antenna but only one receiver.)
-VRD3: Adjustment almost always all the way out for people.. which is about the same length or comfort level as these 800d's from what I gathered. Smaller 3 inch screen. Lighter though. Was the runner up for me. (advertised 900x600).. lies, actual is 960x480. (which is not terrible, just sayin).
-Topsky prime 1s: Company completely lies about specs... I mean, I think like all these china goggles do.. (which pisses me off).. but these guys went way out there. Never buy from Topsky. They need to die slowly in a fire for the sake of our species, thank you for your service.
-Some DIY goggles that people liked I don't remember. Quanum?: very cheap, but discontinued it seems or I likely would have done that.
-Hacking up some cheap model to have it all for way less: I'm good with this kind of thing and this made sense for who I am the best, but even I backed out here. It is probably best to know more about the tech first. Following along with vague suggestions people explained, about terms I was just learning had me quit that route. Your mileage may vary. More power to ya.
-fatshark recon: non diversity and apparently garbage... plus I hate group-think-crazes, I'm pissed at Fatshark for taking such a huge advantage of this temporary monopoly they have and charging probably 8 times what they need to so some jerk can drive the newest Jaguar. ( ︶︿︶)_╭∩╮ I'll wait till tech jumps more and prices come down until somebody offers something that can take them down... and I'll support them instead.
    * These are all between like 45 and 110 US dollars. Even cheap ass me thought for those numbers, it was important to just choose whichever was best for me with no regard to price, so I'll just leave the prices out. You will make a better decision not looking at them. I'm likely cheaper than you are.. so take that for what it is worth. I also probably forgot some points by this time, but the overall should be there.
Last point: I did see a comment or two about NON Eachine ev800d's being sub-par, which you can find cheaper. I don't know it if is true that those are sub-par.. I would usually chance it.. but not this time. (grats, your the one guy who made it through all that). (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ

Yes, but I connected them to a HDMI2AV converter, and then to a PC using an HDMI cable, but I can't see the PC image on the goggles even as the PC identify the converter as a 720P monitor

ev800 is more comfy and perfect for my eyes, screens seems more smooth. vr d2 screen is alittle too close to the eyes, had to double up the sponge of better material to make it good even the lens was all the way back. images are abit rough. i think ev800d wins just by a point.... more comfy.

vr d2 diversity is good for me... well compared to the ev800 not pro... idk how good the ev800d diversity are.

I think it is just the amount of room "inside" the googles that may be a problem if your glasses are too big
