If not for FLCL I'd never knew this band. The second I heard them I was mindblown.
It's a testament to how good "Ride On Shooting Star" and The Pillows as a band are. Tsurumaki was like "this song is nothing like what I asked for... but I can't pass this up! I'll change _my_ idea for the ending to fit _their_ song."

FLCL introduced me to The Pillows. I now listen to a lot of their music just whenever the feeling strikes me! Great band, great show!
The Pillows are what made FLCL a defining anime and not just another strange one-when I was too young to fully grasp it. Whenever the Robot came out and they played Little Busters, man, LOVE IT.
It wouldn't be FLCL without The Pillows. Surprisingly enough, I found the band before I found the series, and now I really love both. Can't wait for the upcoming seasons!

It's literally my most played song according to my google play account, which is carried over from my middle school iTunes account. Hybrid Rainbow is #15, No Self Control is #25 and Ride on Shooting Star is #26. Even after all these years nothing comes close to Last Dinosaur though. Almost 350 plays.

If it wasn't for FLCL, I never would've fallen in love with The Pillows. So many of their songs are just an absolute pleasure to listen to, and, when given the chance, read the lyrics as well. I'm gonna give their entire discography a listen to again, just in prep for FLCL 2&3.

It was the trippiest day of my life seeing these guys live. I love The Pillows so much and I honestly am so stoked that they're back at it again for the new seasons!!!

I love that the original band is back, it makes for a smooth transition into the new seasons.
This band was a huge part of my to me as a kid when I first heard them on flcl. Their soundtrack is what made that anime stick out and become so badass. I remember downloading every album I could find of them. 16 years later I still listen to them almost every day I'm not 26 years old. Thank you, the pillows I love you guys.
The reason why I love the pillows is their sound, unlike other mainstream or popular anime’s, they are unique because it doesn’t have this industrial feel to it, when I watch anime’s the OP’s and OT’s are always with a cutesy high school girlish ring, not that it’s wrong but it’s just soo prevalent and common, i think they use it to sell more their products and boost sales. The Pillows are just underrated and this video proves it, 92k views? On a 5M+ subscribers on a official AdultSwim YT channel?
Greatest rock band to ever walk the face of the earth IMO. They inspired me to learn, and eventually become fluent in, Japanese. They taught me that it was possible to have an all-time favorite band. They have genuinely and permanently changed my life for the better, their California concert back in 2010 was the greatest night of my life. So immensely happy to see them get more recognition overseas; I hope that one day I can express my gratitude to them in person.

FLCL was a defining element of my youth. It doesn't need a sequel. But I'm curious what the creators came up with after all this time

Nah, we already know which Pillows songs are going to be in "Progressive" episode 1 and "Alternative" episode 1, and there's no real stylistic pattern to the songs in either episode; they're all just Pillows-brand alternative/power pop songs. However, most of the music in the new seasons will be composed by RON from VERYGOO, so we'll have to wait and see if he has anything in store for us.
i think its moreso just that theyre just rock subgenres and that guitars and the soundtrack and the general ‘rebellion’ and acting like a kid doing whatever subtext kind of ties into the message of lots of punk stuff

I've loved the music these guys make for decades now, and I knew how humble they are but to hear that their act of rock defiance was to submit a different song and then to be grateful it was utilized?!?
