Thanks for the tips. I recently switched from FCPX to Premiere, and definitely need to brush up on my skills
Glad it was helpful!
Omg! Thanks so much! I’m new in pro presenter and editing and just realized you can sync. I’ve been recording from two cameras from different angles and it’s been hell trying to sync both videos to one audio. This will save me precious time!
Glad this was helpful!!
The show audio unit function is golden in this process. Very well explained, man.
It was definitely a game changer when I found that!
@@dunnadidit i have an offtopic question. If i record video and my speech via gopro and inside helmet mic. But i also record the ambient noise and exhaust audio via external recorder. Is it possible to use the ambient noise for the motorcycle sound. And use the inside helmet audio and sync those in Adobe Pr? My concern is the audio file with the helmet mic will have my voice and environment noise. Is there a way to mute down everything except the speech from the in helmet mic?
Thank you so much for this. The auto sync seems to work for me all the time and you have saved me loads of time compared to trying to match all the spikes manually!
Super helpful Dunna and definitely easy to follow!
Awesome! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you, Dunna ! I was searching exactly for such tips, because I am new and I was wondering if I should use the internal camera audio recording exactly for synchronizing, or leave the video only. Now I know thank to you, Sir !
Thanks a million. I'm restarting my channel with a complete makeover and one of my goals was/is to use external audio....previously I tried it twice and it didn't work but this time I'm determined and your tutorial helps greatly. Be well.
Wow just wow. Amazing tutorial and very informative. You method of explaining makes premiere pro seem WAY less intimidating! Thank you so much! off to sync some audio now!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that!
Great video ! Thank you !
Thanks for tips. I will be using my iPad to do most of my editing, and processing. I have an external mic that I’ll be using for sound, and a Sony A5100 for my video. So I needed to see exactly how to get started on making sure I had good recording and how to get them synced up with the two separate sources.
What recording app would you recommend for the iPad?
Thank you very much - great VID! ..just one thing Donna - at a certain point the audio and video file do not match anymore in length...what can I do here? You know the phenomena I'm talking about? Thank you
This video was so helpful. Thank you!
No problem Montila! Glad you think so!!
High this is a wonderful video. I have a question. I am recording with my synth plugged into the field recorder which disables the mics. How would I then sync a clap to the video. Just through sound wavelengths?
This is, by far, the best practical explanation of audio sync. Great job and thank you!
I have been using the multi camera sequence to do this. I did not realize you can simply do it in the timeline. Thank you! Huge time saver.
My pleasure!!
Really good video mate! thanks for all the help
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, this helps a lot. Thanks
This was great man. So helpful
Dude, you are a life saver. I needed this video, it's two years after you recorded it and yet it is going to make a major inpace on my channel. Thank you so much.
Nice! Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for the tips! I am thinking about getting a mic directly attach to the camera and wait! You remind me of some music recording fundamentals!
Great video, very helpful !
Thanks Buddy for sharing your knowledge
Hi. Great content. Thank you. I use an external mic for my videos. I use logitech c922x HD for my videos and fifine usb mic but I'm getting a lot of room noise. So I'm thinking in getting the zoom h4n and work on putting my audio and video together.
You're a legend man🙏🏻 finally found what i wanted❤️ thanks man!
This was great. I have some great mics and I've been wanting to use them for audio and sync to my video.. Premier Pro is a must.
super helpful videos, how do you import Iphone recorder into Adobe premier? Should I import to Idrive and download it ?
great video man!!! very helpful
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. That was very helpful.
Thanks! Very helpful!
Thank you. Very helpful.
about to record my next videos and this is what I was looking for. got a lav mic to record it with my phone and then synchronize with my video like you described.
perfect explanation and flawless video. You got my follow, Dunna!
Great! Thanks for watching!
Dude, great stuff, I appreciate this.
Dunna did it AGAIN. Thumbs up. Thx man!
Cheers Alexander!
Thank you so much. It really helps for a beginner like me.
Brilliant as usual buddy🙏🏻
Thank you Fayez! I appreciate your support as always!
I've always synced manually, so this is a HUGE help. Thank you!
I find myself doing it manually a lot of the time anyway! It’s pretty quick when you get used to it! But if the more automatic ways make it easier for anyone then that’s awesome!! Glad it helped! Cheers
I love you! Thank you for the video!
Planning to run a Zoom H5, using (2) Rode XLR+ adapters with lav microphones plugged into them. (1) microphone will be ran to the exhaust of my car and the other to the intake. I will be recording video from in-cabon with a GoPro Hero5. Goal is to tune the sensitivity of the microphones using the knobs on the Zoom so i can avoid peaking the microphones, which was happening when running the microphones directly to the GoPro.
What would be the best process for deploying audio markers, when i'm at the track and hit record on both the Zoom and GoPro, making it easier to sync the files (1 in-cabin using the Zoom Mics, then 2 separate audio files which will be the engine bay and exhaust)?
Lastly, this will be my first time attempting to sync video/audio (Last time was with Vegas Video 7 when i was super young) and am wondering if Premiere Pro would be what you recommend?
Let me know if there's anything issue/concern wise with the setup. I don't think i need to have the Phantom power on with the Lav Microphones (Olympus ME-51S x2), but am not totally sure. I know the XLR+ reduces the power from 48v -> 4v? or something like that, right?
Will also be my first time using a audio recorder, ever.
Thanks broski! Super helpful...
I'm just getting started with Premiere Pro. I use a Zoom H6 for external audio. Thus far just 1 camera, but that's going to change to multi-camera setups within the next couple of weeks. Thanks a bunch for this informative video.
Thanks. Very simple and straightforward.
Man!! You're awesome bro thank you very much. I was trying to sync my video with audio this helped me do it. I will share my video here
I really love the marker suggestion!
Well explained, got my follow. Thank you.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I have absolutely no video editing experience, but was asked to to a video reaction (I do some voiceover work) and I thought I was going to rip my hair out when I opened Premiere Pro. This was exactly what I needed!
Thanks so much man! Very helpful
All made sense. Thank you bro

I was really waiting for this video, Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
Love you braw !
I’ve recently started my channel and this is super helpful. Thank you so much!
My pleasure! Have fun with your new channel!
wow, thanks man. Now im ready.
Legit you are a lifesaver
Yoooo the best advice on syncing. Thank you!
Thanks a lot I didn't know you could do that with the markers and it's just what I was looking for
Nice!!
thank you so much. this way help me for edit video a lot.
One trick I use is when filming on a camera with a mic input - is to split the input and run 2 mics into the camera directly. A lav on the left channel and a shotgun on the right. A second camera usually has an on-camera shotgun for safety that can also be synced if needed. :)
Great tip Greg! Thanks for sharing that!!
amazing i needed this
Do you recommend synchronizing first and then to start editing the video (cutting) or the opposite way around?
Hi Dunna, please keep up the good work and keep on inspiring people to keep on with their filmmaking by showing them how simple it can sometimes be! Really valuable tips and a great style to convey information. Could you maybe do a video on how you approach storytelling for your videos and the process of how you plan and create your videos. Thank you so much and again, keep up the good work.
Much Love
Locus
Thank you so much for the kind words Locus! I definitely have a “how I make videos” video on my list of ideas! Thank you for your suggestion! Cheers!

Nice!
thank you bro This video was so helpful.
My pleasure!!
I just got the Rode NTG4+ so now its time to record audio and sync in post. Thank you for a great video!
Awesome!
I was interested in the theme of your video. I use a Zoom H4N and iMovie in ios but have found on occasion that the by the time I get to the end of a 3-minute song I'm recording, the audio is out of sync. My iPhone defaults to 30fps @1080p. In the Zoom, the speed setting is 100%. Have you come across this problem?
Actually yes I recently recorded a concert with a whole bunch of different cameras, 2 sony mirrorless, 1 canon c100(cinema camera), and 5 gopros of varying models. When I went to put all the footage together, the gopros were slightly out of sync by the end of the second song. I think this might have to do with the software trying to conform something that's not actually quite perfectly 30fps but I could be wrong. I'm going to be digging into this a lot more to try to never run into it again so if I find something I'll let you know. In the case of audio, it may be that you're recording at 48khz and the editing software is trying to play back at 44.1khz and doing a bad job of converting it. But again, just speculation.
How would I do this with mutile mics and External mics (via iPad) like podcast style? I’m doing multiple cameras (3) and we have mics as well.. if this makes any sense
You should still be able to use the syncronize audio feature with multiple clips and sources
Thanks for a great video! For long takes, do the audio and video continue to stay in sync? In my experience, the audio tends to drift a little out of synchronization after awhile. Any ideas how to correct that?
This is an issue I am having and am sad you didnt get an answer here lol did you ever find out how to fix this problem?
I really learned new things!
Now i use external audio in almost every project 📽
Nice!!
Very helpful. Thank you
Cheers!
Great video Dunna.
Thank you so much Andy!
What camera and lighting set up are you using?
Just got my first Zoom H4n Pro. Gonna test it on a concert shoot. Should I tap it on the board or mount it on my A6500? By the way, contract is for video highlights only.
I usually mount it by the board.. if you can get a feed off the board and record the mics on it too that would be good.
I have a insignia adapter for the micro SD, and regular SD card. I'm having trouble laying down the audio and the video at the same time within Adobe Preimere Pro.
Super helpful man thank you
My pleasure!
