Had CR7 known of this video beforehand, he would've retired just to be named here and the come back.
😅
😂
I would cut one of my ears off Van Gogh style to have Cruijff back for this Netherlands team.
Cruijff would hammer everyone on that team, VvD and Koeman included.
"Why are you playing a 2 man midfield? That's far too risky!" - Cruijff
You must like absinthe then
Cruyff*
@@Monstrosity993please do tell Dutch people how to spell their own names correctly
If only.
Before watching more: Not naming Phillipp Lahm when talking about German defenders (and even central midfielders) is a travesty. He was by far the best wing defender of the late 00's/early 10's and should always be named among the GOATs of German football
You say by far te best. I'd argue that he and Cole were equals. Both criminally underappreciated players because of the position they played.
@@tomchamberlain4329lahm was better and a smarter player. He was probably the role model for the modern fullback but also still a defensive beast
@@escape2nirvana Rank;
Kimmich ,Irwin ,Lahm ,Brehme , Costacurta
Also a versatile player, and considered a great leader and one of the most intelligent players of his time.
Yes it´s criminal not to name him especially if you name people like Raum who couldn´t hold a candle for him. Lahm as LB or RB would help tremendiously in the current team.
I'd give my left kidney to see prime Gerd Müller playing with Thomas Müller.
With greetings from Bavaria.
Or Klose and Rummenige 🫣

Could give your kidney to Gerd
Kai Havertz is better than both combined 🔥

"ENGLAND: ALFIE POTTS HARMER.
The Three Lions travel to Germany with what most people would argue is the best team at this year's Euros. Thus, instead of proposing an addition to England's already excellent squad, I suggest adding Britain's most talented, most charismatic football journalist, to be rejected by The Athletic."
@astanco1574 Always excuses when England win. Your excuses fall on deaf ears now because even the people that like comments like this don't actually believe them.

@@Antibot2025And another England hater our media mostly Sky are awful they chat shit to get clicks. But ask the average Don down the Pub we never think we will win it we hope we will but we don't expect And don't think we will. This Year the Squad on Paper is absolutely capable of winning the Euros there is no disagreement there with England fans. Southgate is the biggest why we might not. There is divison there amongst us Some saying last Chance others saying he shouldn't even be the manager. Now another thing the song Football's Coming Home is irony we don't actually mean it in 1966 we hosted and won the World Cup we invented modern football. In 1996 30 years later we hosted the Euros and two Comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner who hosted the fantasy Football Show asked the English band the Lighting Seeds to write Three Lions aka Football's Coming Home as literally it was and we hoped that maybe after 30 years on Home Soil we could maybe win it. It was also used as the Marketing Slogan for that Tournament unofficially I believe. It became so popular we sing it everytime we do well. Out of Hope.
Now The Media BBC and ITV on TV BBC are fair the criticise England if we do badly Praise if we do well. Sky have a nack on Saturdays during a Premier League season to get a bunch of Football UA-camrs to chat absolute Shit with wank opinions to target the Younger audience on Social Media for Clicks. Now I'm 20 I see right through I prefer the Match analysis by ex Pros. Now the Papers do the same. Sadly a lot of the world sees this. Now the other day I was eating my tea and the England Squad was announced and Jamie O Hara who wasn't a great player said This is the Best England Squad assembled. Despite the fact Harry Maguire was missing, our Left Back isn't guaranteed to be fit and a lot of young inexperienced players some of whom have good end of seasons are in there. For example Best Left Back would be Ashley Cole, Beat Centre Back along With Stones would be Terry, Moore, Campbell or Ferdinand. Best Midfield, Rice, Bellingham, Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Wingers Foden, Saka, Beckham, Grealish who wasn't named is useful for the impact, Barnes, Le Tissier, McManam, Midfielders also include, Gazza Strikers Kane, Shearer, Wright, Lineker, Geoff Hurst that would possibly be the best England side built with Seaman, Banks, Shilton in goal
It'd have to be David Nugent for England
Literally a goal a game for England - legend for Preston, the EFL and his country 🔥
I'm going for Luther Blissett for England 🤣 x
He can pounce on goal like a cheetah
Just pipping Dean Ashton 😂

Good video, and as a spanish, I think that what we most need is a striker, because we have (maybe not the CBs) all the postions well covered, and with a world-class striker like Villa on his days, we would be maybe one the favourites
Im spanish too, i would say the same, we need a Striker like Luis Suárez or Villa. The midfield is literally the last position in my opinion to need an upgrade, i would choose before a midfielder a CB (Puyo, Piqué, Ramos) or even a GK ( Zamora, Casillas)
Villa's stats in that 2010 WC win are crazy; he was involved with basically all the goals lol (hyperbole ofc)
@@furbitoalespacio he has very good at positioning but decent at anything else (aerial, one v one, crazy reflex, or speed to clear the ball). As Spanish fans I will suggest Butragueno, Villa, or Raul to replace Ayoze perez.
If we had Baggio we'd automatically be favourites. Even an old Baggio with one knee was putting Totti, Zidane, Del Piero and Rui Costa in school during the battle of the 10's in the late 90's. The man was on another level. Ancelotti even admitted recently his biggest mistake in his career was not bringing Baggio back at Juventus, even when Zidane asked him to bring Baggio back, and it got him sacked ar the end of the day Baggio would end the season with 20+ goals and 10+ assists im less than 30 games.
Just don't let him kick penalties.

Before watching the video, Ashley Cole for England is my pick. I've always said he was the best of the golden generation in an England shirt. Ultra consistent. Widely considered to be the best LB in the World. We have a shortage of LBs going into the tournament. Ashley Cole.
Spain’s should definitely be a striker. Even when Spain had an all world midfield, they struggled for goals. They need David Villa

Raul Gonzalez was Spain's greatest striker.
Croatia - Davor Suker, Albania - Lorik Cana, Slovenia- Zlatko Zahovic, Switzerland - Alexandr Frei, Serbia- Sinisa Mihaijlovic, France- either Zinedine Zidane or Michel Platini, Slovakia - either Martin Skrtel or Marek Hamsik, Ukraine - Andriy Shevchenko, Czech Republic - Pavel Nedved, Georgia - either Shota Arveladze or Kakha Kaladze. An interesting video would be the lowest scoring champions of all time.
I often think about this because I know Swedish champions in 1998, AIK scored 25 goals in 26 games which I think is insane.
And there was AC Milan in the early 2000s that scored 36 in 38 while winning the Serie A (numbers might be a little off, can't remember the year but have a feeling it was 05/06)

For Portugal I'm not sure I'd go with Eusebio. Eusebio is arguably the best ever portuguese player, on equal terms with Ronaldo (I can't place one over the other). But a striker's job is to finish the plays set up by the attacking midfielders, and in those positions Portugal is more than well provided, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Rafa Leão, Vitinha and a rising Francisco Conceição, who can be one of the emergent stars of the tournament. So with this attacking potential we just need a competent finisher, and even an ageing Ronaldo, along with Jota and Ramos, can provide the goals. I think that Portugal's greatest weakness is in the center back. We only have one player who's at his prime, Ruben Dias. Pepe is 41 and injured, Danilo was never a top defender (more a defensive midfielder) and both António Silva and Inácio and still not fully matured. Therefore, I would bring a prime Ricardo Carvalho to play alongside Ruben Dias. I believe this would be an ironclad defense. And also, Nelson Semedo isn't the only right back on the squad, we also have Dalot and Cancelo, who are both right backs, although they can also play as a false left backs.
That comment didn't aged well
For Portugal the right choice should have been Ronaldo.
The one from 8 years ago replacing this one
Read the title
About Thibaut Courtois: We did not 'chose' to leave him out. He does not want to play for his country because he dislikes the new manager Tedesco... At least that is how it is now percieved in Belgium... We would love for him to play, but it's up to him. Not a lot of people know what is actually going on of course but i feel a bit disappointed in in Courtois tbh. Still wish him al the best though
Do the same video but for Copa America!
Videos for you to consider
- what on earth is going on at inverness Caledonian thistle
From third place and winning Scottish cup to Scottish league one
You Haven’t had a Scottish team in this series so you might want to.
- Clapton CFC
A fan owned team and their story
You do like a non league video at times for the viewers
- the rise of bashundhara kings
How they won last six Bangladesh premier League now

Uh oh Alfie chose to replace Ronaldo. He's correct, but that's asking for trouble on the internet ain't it.
Villa/Torres/Raul for Spain. We need a prolific goal scorer more than anything.
David Villa!
Villa was the name out of my mouth as soon as he said Spain.
turns out you did well enough as is :)
Bobby Moore for England
I agree Germany should resurrect Beckenbauer to make Neuer’s job easier
We have great centerbacks but our only real number 9 is füllkrug
@@wideboii4523 We won the world cup with a 37 year old Klose, who scored 13 goals in a mediocre italian midfield club as striker.

@@Marc-vk7rlHe’s saying they could win with an excellent defence and a decent striker
@@Marc-vk7rl I mean Beckenbauer offers greater versatility (he can play CB, CM and DM) and due to our good offensive midfield Füllkrug could be good enough as finisher. Loved the video Alfie, please make a similar one for the Copa America. Cheers m8
Johan Cruyff even as a GK would make Netherlands a favorite. Whatever position you have him. Even an assistant coach.

Just have him around, anywhere 😄 and they are gonna do just fine. He was simply more than just a player. Absolute Legend!
I think I already said this in the last video of this kind, but for Portugal I'd just bring back prime CR7. Precisely for the same reasons you bring back Eusébio, but avoiding the complications that would surely be created by benching Ronaldo.
Probably the right pick; but to play Devil's advocate, Eusebio was so good for the Portuguese NT, especially IN WC 66' where he was definitely one of the two best players if not the best
Além que o homem especificamente diz trazer de volta. O CR ainda não se foi e por isso não pode ser trazido de volta.
Bro had the option of bringing back prime Luis Figo and choose Eusebio 💀
He also had the option of bringing back prime Micah Richards to England but chose Ashley Cole instead💀
Bro Bican was born in Austria BUT he reprezented Czechia and he even got Czech citizenship in the end of his carrer
He played for both national teams, so he is technically allowed in both.
@ Filsantos86 Yea but he played most of his carrer in Czech club
The most important thing this German side lacks is mentality and leadership. They need someone like Michael Ballack to pull the team together single handedly.
Nice choice with Roberto baggio. Amongst a lot of greats but he is the best of them.
Forget Ashley Cole, bring back Stuart Pearce
Always loved watching Baggio.
Lord Nicklas Bendtner for Denmark would light up the EUROs 🔥🔥🔥
I met his Dad once at a hotdog stand on the main square in Copenhagen. Not much of a claim to fame but there you go :)
Suker over Bobek. Bobek is legend but proven only in Yugoslavia in f'ing 50s although it was strong league back than. But Suker played for Real, Sevilla, Arsenal, West Ham, Munich 1860, Dinamo Zagreb. I'm Serbian and i would take Suker every day even for my team lol Suker was the 9
I'd prefer Van Basten over Cruijff rn for the Dutch national team.
Alfi what are you talking about? Chapuisat did not win the ballon d'or! And Alexandre Frei is by far the better striker.
As a Slovak I appreciate your choice for Slovakia
It's not that they left out Courtois. It's more like Courtois and Tedesco have an argument. So Courtois refuses to rejoin the team at the moment.
Maybe a good one to make a video about ;)
France had to be Zizou. Him in the mix with Mbappé and anyone else up front is just insanely potent...
Alfie, I really appreciated your FFP video. Since you seem to be the most well organized channel at explaining these sort of aspects of the game, could you possibly make a video explaining the homegrown rules in the PL and UEFA, and also what implications if may have for the future of PL teams moving forward? Lots of thanks!

I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
There aren't many buddy
Who actually cares? It's just a cry for attention, and you're clearly not getting as much as you want.
The best German players have always either stayed in Germany or played in Serie A, or had the best part of their careers in Serie A, like Lothar Matthaus, Oliver Bierhoff, Rumminigge, Klinsmann, Klose, Brehme, Kohler, Möller etc
Alfie - you should have Further Adu tshirts as merch for the channel
As a german, I want to say some things about Germany in this video:
Not naming Lahm as an option on the right sight should be punished and you shouldnt dare to ever come to germany!
With this out of the way: I wouldnt want to switch Andrich out. Yes, Matthäus would be an upgrade but Andrich is the type of Player Kroos needs next to him. He is basically prime Casemiro from Wish, which in this case is still really good. I agree with the Müller pick, but mainly because strikers tend to have a bigger impact than left backs, otherwise I would have gone for a left back.
bro casemiro from wish 😂
Alex Frei instead of Chapuisat for Switzerland. Frei scored 42 in 84 caps, Chapuisat only 21 in 103.
This actual team of the Netherlands with Cruyff added as a 10 would fucking destroy most teams I can think of
Bobby Moore, need an unbeatable centre back and leader
Murtaz Khurtsilava is my sister-in-law's grandfather 😀😀
Tbh I wouldn't pick him. Kobiashvili would be my choice, because he could literally play anywhere in the midfield + left back we don't have a recognized left back and you really need a good utility man in an international tournament.
Or I would literally bring back prime Kankava who just stepped away from the Georgia squad because he felt he's too old. But maybe I'm biased because Kankava is still my favorite player at the moment
Day 1: Top 7 managers that managed TWO or more teams at the same time.

After watching: toss-up between Ashley Cole and Rio Ferdinand
Rather have Bobby Moore. A leader which England lacks.
Serbian football is a sham. National including. We will embarrass ourselves against all the opponents in the group. I personally hate both greatest clubs from our country because they're political, communist creation intertwined with... All of it state wise. I am happy with supporting my local communities clubs in 4th, 5th and 6th tier. Abroad, i am actually Southampton FC fan since season 2010/11, 125th anniversary season of the Saints. We're marching on!
20:22 As a Pole, this pronunciation hurts, but Boniek is a good choise!

I think his leadership is sorely missed, plus, at his best he would pull a Yaya Touré and play every position down the spine at once. Plus, his unreal passing would provide Kroos a greatly needed respite, making Germany’s offense more multifaceted

Fun vid. Keep up the good work.
I think the most concerning for Poland is not the lack of creative midfielders. With likes of Piotr Zieliński, Sebastian Szymański and Nicola Zalewski, this team is capable of being an attacking threat.
It's the defence which is everyone worried about.
Poland lost goals in 5 out of 8 qualifier matches including loss to Moldova 3-2 and Albania 0-2 and two of them in which they didn't was vs Faroe Islands. Statistically Poland concedes moer than 1 goal per match. There is no stability there.
Arsenal side Jakub Kiwior, even though talented, lacks a bit of defensive capabilites. Long-time Southampton defender Jan Bednarek is directly being called a pussy and noone believes he's gonna stop anyone competent, let alone Mbappe. And there is no permanent solution to half-right back as Poland plays back three. Whether it'd be Hellas' Paweł Dawidowicz, Lech Poznań's Bartosz Salamon or Heerenveen's captain Paweł Bochniewicz, noone's truly convinced towards any of them.
The likes of Kamil Glik or Władysław Żmuda might be more helpful than Boniek.
Yes, Żmuda and a younger version of Glik would immediately transform this squad. Although we have to consider Boniek's leadership qualities, his personality would most definitely make an impact
Alfie mate - kudos for nailing the correct pronunciation of Zvonimir Boban. Cheers from a Croatia fan in the states 🇭🇷
Seeing as we aren't there ,I reckon all 24 teams would snap our hands off for prime Keane.
As a Dane, I think we'd want King Peter to rule the net, over primadonna Laudrup. While his son Kasper Schmeichel is a good keeper, he never reached same heights as his father, and Peter Schmeichel was a captain and general, who seemed to uplift his team with his presence.
Iniesta? He is amazing but I feel like midfield is the last position Spain need even considering how good he was
The amount of research that has gone into this video is truly phenomenal.
i realy believe Alfie knows almost all of this off the top of his head. His ball knowledge is crazy
I don’t think the Netherlands team needs Cruyff as much as it would need a great defensive midfielder.
My vote is on Davids
That dude carried Barcelona on his own
The Pitbull would be fantastic in this team. Would allow the wingbacks and the rest of the midfield to stay forwards more and I think fix the goal problem as a result of that as well. Much more versatile than adding a strong attacker (If you need to, you could lock the entire field down with a back three and Davids)
Most of the names/choices I actually agree with but three picks.
Spain, the nation who have great midfielders coming out of every corner and need a proper attacker atm, and you didn't even mantion El Buitre, Emilio Butragueno. Was a bit of a surprise for me. Croatia you have Bobek over Davor Suker, who is probably the only player with better stats than Bobek himself, if I'm not mistaken.
As a Dane, we all know about the greatness of Michael Laudrup, but as a personality and character outside of the pitch, he was not that great. I'd even argue that if he had been at the 92 Euro's, we wouldn't have won! I'd much rather have a great attacker as Preben Elkjær or even his younger brother Brian Laudrup. With that being said, of course Michael is our greatest player of all time!
Go check Josip Skoblars record for Croatia
Alfie, we seriously need to talk about INEOS. What on earth is going on at Manchester United?
"To add goals to Germany, as that's an area where they could be lacking"
Who's gonna tell him?
Can you do a video about Willem van Hanegem (imo maybe the most underrated player ever) (8th video)
I’d go for a Centre back for France probably Thuram or Desailly. They are fine in midfield with Camvinga, Rabiot and Kante doing a remontada. No need for Vieira
Desailly won 98 for France. You could do whatever you wanted, but you were never getting past Desailly.
I love this video idea! But I’d personally choose Refik Resmja for 🇦🇱
1 - Get Zizou back
2 - Win the 2024 Euro
3 - You welcome
For me, it would be Kazimierz Deyna. We missed him so much.
Roberto Baggio made me a soccer fan.
Good pick on Denis Law. There is a greatest skills vid on UA-cam and his sheer physical dynamism, fantastic ball control, ability to score from just about any angle and ability to hang in the air and direct bullet headers is still a sight to behold!
big salute from Georgia alfie❤🫡i am your big fan and i never thought that i would see my country on your video😂❤️
I'd argue that the position that Poland needs fixing the most is defence, especially in the centre. The only secure enough player in that position is Kiwior, who's most comfortable on the left side of the back three, and it's getting tiresome of how many goals we're losing because of the backs' incompetence
22:10 Bican was Czechoslovak, not Austrian
Video idea:
The best manager from each Euro 2024 Country.
Steve Clarke has done brilliant to get us here but between his stubborn tactics, 'loyalty' to established squad players and the horrible injuries we have going in = scotland are doomed. A real shame as our qualifying campaign was fantastic
I'd piss in my tea and drink it to see Paul Gascoigne in this team
Stephane Chapuisat did not win the Ballon D’or
I'd have picked Joe Jordan for Scotland. Neither Law nor Dalglish excelled in World Cups, while Jordan scored in three successive World Cups and was always a handful for defenders.
I was merrily listening to you but then burst out laughing when you said "Sideshow Bob, Wout Faas"🤣
That France call is genius
before i even watched the video the first name that popped into my head for Germany was Gerd Mueller
Definetly. Our defense is solid. We don't need Beckenbauer. Our midfield is our best part, so we don't need Matthäus. We need a striker, so let's take the best there ever was
Panajot Pano sounds like someone was making fun of him for only scoring penalties
Love the thinking behind the choices, great video as always
Not even a mention of Kinkladze?
Yes, love these kinds of vids!! Always find out about a new story or a new legend that I had somehow overlooked. Class as ever.
Honestly deschamps’ plans can take a backseat when Henry and Mbappe sprint together, not one right back would stop this combo, Walker can only dream of taking down both Henry and Mbappe at the same time

Roberto Baggio is a legend and was an amazing footballer, but Italy's greatest player? When You've got the likes of Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Gianluigi Buffon ect. Italy are more known for their absolute solid defence

@@callumbishop1193 Aye but then he went onto say that Baggio is arguably Italy's greatest player of all time, so he said it
@tomcooke6079 I think Baressi is Italys greatest player alltime, maybe.
