As a teenager, my friends and I used old screwdrivers that we sharpened. We were not very good, probably because we didn't practice enough. Watching you was inspirational. Keep your videos coming and thank you!
I had a sensei who taught street acrobatics, he gave me a couple throwing knives way back in 2014. Extremely blunt, they sat for awhile. Eventually i put bit of an edge on them and start playing around. At first I try a spin throw, but i didnt get any stick till I tried No spin. So I type no spin into yt and found you. You directed me to that german fellow, the no spin master...I cannot recall name but lovely long in depth tutorial. Some years go by and now today I have alot of fun with this hobby. doing trick shots and smiling just like you. Then I found a box of screwdrivers!!! I go crazy haha! This week i seen your YT short and tried the Military Half spin for first time - Bullseye! wow! Thanks alot Adam.
My cheap knife throwing tip is to go to a secondhand stores and buy up used tableware, garden tools, and pointy construction nails. I have dozens of old steak knives, butter knives, hand spades, awls, metal tent stakes, big iron nails, and screwdrivers that were practically free. Maybe 10 cents each especially in bulk bundle. This gave me lots of practice objects to throw without constantly retrieving.
I've been interested in learning to throw knives for a while, and being a blacksmith, I'm definitely forging my own. I've only just discovered your channel, but I love it! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Those construction nails were so cool! I think broken old screwdrivers can be modded to be like ice picks then thrown too right? It is so hard to throw a screwdriver into a meat target with denim. I did it with venison. You make it look easy throwing screw drivers.
Its years of practice, I know You get to the point it flies like a friggin spear, and it sticks in hard and deep into hardwood boards across the grain; not even along the grain, at least 3/4 ins in with an 8 in knife, with 12 in knife it can go more than an inch into hardwood
Great info right there. Thanks a lot. Them spikes from bicycle wheels look dangerous, though, as they could bounce back and they wouldn´t easily be seen coming towards you. But I definitely gotta try the other ones. Awesome!
Man, I need to camp in your woods 😲. I was afraid the file would shatter into steel splinters... Great video, Adam. I started with screwdrivers, painter's tools, and steel scissors 🫡
once bored in my house cleaning I just grabbed a bunch of junk things. made forks, butter knives, shopsticks, scissors, screwdriver even a spoon stuck.... It was kind of cool because each had its own weight and balance and it made it so I had to adjust.
If you are on a budget visit yard sales. You can get various types of used knives for very cheap. While they probably wouldn't be in great condition a little bit of maintenance can get you a lot of cheap knives
At 5:45 there is a flat version of this the electrician uses it . It's sharp as H... and one inch wide 9.4 inches long. That would be my favourite throwing device and i have to practice with abutter knife since they are everywhere. The nails could be good too but if i have to buy a box i would rather go for the electrician tool , what is the tool called?
I think I will get some nails and try screw drivers too. Thank you for all your instruction videos. And especially the starter budget one. I need info of distance to start with. I have been throwing an Ax and am sticking consistently at 12 feet ( about 4 meters) and 7 meters.
Awesome, awesome video, my friend! This kind of educational material is so great for showing people that knife throwing is approachable and doesn't have to be really expensive; I hope this one gets a million views! I was doing some weekend educating today, myself- Teaching martial arts to the members of my reenactment group, at a Scottish-American festival. 👍👍
@@AdamCeladin You know, Mackenzie didn't take a single video of me. haha It was fun, though. I wanted to throw my Highland dirk into a tree SO BAD, but they were all live trees, and we were right on Main Street, with lots of people around. haha
ahhh es grandiosooo... mas elementos para practicar... y lo hace ver tan fácil con ellos jajajajajajaj... ok, puedo practicar con los destornilladores y no sabia, lo intentare... gracias!!!
I'm screwed...river thrower myself. They don't cause unwanted attention, but are fun. Tried to make some throwing knives from scrap metal, but those becaume way too light and keep bouncing dangerously. Screwdrivers were safer imo.
@@AdamCeladin I just seen that they are 12" long and updated my post..... Beautiful country, where is that?______ I am in the Sonoran desert of Arizona and i miss all the greenery you have there
@@AdamCeladin Nice looking area you live... Keep an eye out for my cactus avatar as i am completely new at this and i will do it with the help of your videos.....by the way Arizona is in the USA down near the Mexican border..... Thanks my friend
Im beginner and i have the gil hibben gen x knives (the small one), and after the 7th throwsession, one of the knives has already broken in the middle... sad, i tought they where stronger build.. But maybe its a beginners thing? Also the cutting edge of all knives are unsharp and have big notches..
I bought some 25cm "pointed chisels" :D they so cheap! and they weigh like 200g give or take. Thats flying through the air nicely! :P And the contractors use these to break up concrete I think.. So im not worried about it breaking anytime soon :D Was actually bc I saw one of your other videos where it showed the construction nail option, but I cant find such nails where I live and then I stumbled upon these.
You have amazing throwing skills! I would like to try the screw drivers..... do they break easily? I hope they don't break that easily but looks very durable... also love the butter knives! Great ideas!
If you are a beginner thrower, try to use longer and heavier objects first, and only then switch to light ones. light objects require more throwing speed, and speed has a bad effect on coordination. you will learn slower and worse. Also, high speed with weak technique can damage your elbow and shoulder ligaments.
Gah... I'll have to miss the premiere, brother; there's a Tartan Day function with my 18th century Highland Scottish reenactment group, tomorrow. EDIT: That sounds made up. haha
@AdamCeladin I'll probably make it for a bit of the live stream; I love those things! 😄 You need to find some upholstery needles to throw, one of these days- Those little things are ground breaking, in terms of training for good control. 😁👍👍
Hello Adam! I'm watching a lot of your videos. How about a card as a throwing weapon? Is power, range, etc okay? Thank you for always showing good videos.
Have prepared three 270 mm construction nails. Be careful throwing them from short distances 2 meters to hard wood tree trunks is rather dangerous because they will hardly penetrate hard wood, but every second throw was bouncing back towards my legs or chest 😮😅. Soft plywood or pumpkin might be a more not dangerous target.🎯
Hi. Greetings from Germany. Can you tell how to keep the knife throwing straight Forward. No Spin. Youre Tip was brilliant. Let IT Slide outside the Hand. And my middlefingerpush Just a liiitle bit down. So IT doesnt Spin. I Love No Spin. My record is around 5 Meters. Im addicted😄 thanks for your brilliant content.
I really cant get the hang of no spin. Its fustrating. The only way i have been able to stick them... im right handed. And im throwing them backhanded. In an upward trajectory.
Yes, yes, the Weapons Act. Everything dangerous is forbidden. Throwing knives and shuriken are banned here. That's why I bought a revolver. 🤣 Joking aside, of course I'm not allowed to walk around with a revolver, let alone do target practice in the forest. But it is possible to own a revolver in our country with the appropriate documents, but it is not legal to own a throwing knife.
for half-spin and multi-spin techniques, it is better to start training with flat objects like knives or files and then switch to round, square and other rods. this affects the skill of placing your thumb on an object
butter knives, kitchen knives, as well as any knives with a thin blade can be very dangerous, especially at close range, as they spring strongly and sometimes fly back at the thrower almost at the speed of the initial throw.Be careful. At a minimum, use construction protective masks and glasses
