I don't believe it for a second! I thought everywhere was quaint & peaceful before we came? Cup of tea with the little finger out and all that? I am shocked!
Possible..if this was in 1983 then Dave Hunt would have been 22 and well into his criminal career. Although, Canning Town had a number of gangs..although by mid 80s..the snipers were the dominant ones with Dave being the head (allegedly)
I've met with mates in that pub on a few occasions. The owner was Scottish & the lads took the piss because he was Catholic. The no smoking ban never came into effect & the walls dripped with nicotine. There was a shotgun behind the bar. Lovely boozer.
Turns out it was actually the local council who sent some 'naughty geezers' to this place as they had no joanna for a knees-up. Blatant contravention of the local by-laws. A right old barrel of cockney monkeys, and no mistakin'!
JT would have been working in the boxing gym above this pub as a trainer during this period. Mind you, if this had happened a decade before...could have been a different story. This pub was always a dump like most of the ones in E16. Stay away!!
A gang from Canning Town. A-lot of them ended up going on to form one of the biggest crime firms in London (Canning Town cartel is what you’d find them under online, but that’s a ridiculous press name, and they’ve all been straight-goers for years now)
Anyone who says there were no very violent pubs and clubs back then is a fool. Anyone who says violent crime hasn’t grown massively since then is a complete f ing moron.
Because Acid attacks, grooming gangs, racially aggrevated attacks, deliberate ethnic segregation and takeovers is the same as punters fighting eachother. You're absolutely delusional and the reason why this country is a cesspit.
The difference was with the gangs back then, there was order, people had more respect, if there was problems, you’d ask for help not from the police but the people running that manor
Landlord got some balls
Well he was a keen golfer. Ambidextrous too. Some say he swung both ways.

You just can't beat a good old English pub
Don Dave made him an offer he couldn’t refuse….allegedly
No wonder most of the pubs closed in Canning Town
The East End is a place I avoid. And, South East London.
You can speak English...nobody would understand a word you say there nowadays anyway.
And London. And the south.
I was born in the East End (Plaistow) and now I live in South East London!😲🤣
