Given that ALL fiat currencies end up imploding, we need to be cautious in allowing to use another one. There have been over 6,000 fiat currencies throughout history. All of them, without exception, have gone the way of the Dodo bird and broke a lot of people's hearts and dreams along with them. I am of the opinion that we need something more along the lines of Constitutional currency, or at least something tied to a gold/silver backed currency. Everything else is just another Ponzi.

The government tell us it's to prevent money laundering by drugs dealers which is a good idea but it misses all the innocent people who want to use cash because they wish to remain anonymous. If you receive government benefits like Medicaid or Food stamps, all your spending that isn’t cash is tracked. If the number’s don’t add up, your benefits are reduced or eliminated. To me, that’s a good reason to own gold or jewelry, if you can store it safely, to be able to sell to improve your lifestyle, or even to be able to afford gifts for children and grandchildren. A health crisis or job loss can impoverish almost anyone.

I worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier for a summer when I was in college decades ago, and I used to keep a lazy eye on weird combinations of items customers would buy.

No judgment at all - let your freak flag fly, I say - but I try not to think too much about what he was up to.

Great video! I do agree that there is very little that isn't being recorded these days. Everything we do online or via smartphone is, or can be, tracked/recorded already. Whether it is used against us is still to be determined, but the info is definitely out there to profile us. Cash is so important for privacy especially in today's hyper connected world. But as cash gets devalued over time, gold (specifically), and silver to some extent, will help give us the option to preserve some privacy.

And while I don't think there will be a confiscation event like in the past, I do believe that once CBDC is here to stay and has replaced most if not all cash transactions, there will be a hefty redemption tax on metals that may render them somewhat worthless or worth less than the actual value (value - taxes) in this new economy. There will be a window to exchange them for tokens, but once that window closes, bam! This will be one way to prevent people from owning it. But what do I know??

From what I understand recently minted gold and silver in the US has implemented a new technology for tracking your coins and rounds. Buy the older stuff not the most recently minted.

  • @donnelson4140

I’ve recently been selling off one form of asset and buying another. The intermediate valuation and transaction is usually done in $US of course, though a few recently have been direct exchanges - with valuation and bean-counting still requiring the intermediary of $US. Back in the olden daze there was a direct standard: 1oz Au = 1 S&W Model 29. Entire complex swaps were sometimes guided by that equation. I’m sure some parties to such business at least thought about dollar valuations, but the were the hardcore that did not. I miss those folks and the olden daze.

I like your thinking. I see gold and silver as a hedge to help weather a total economic meltdown. Sadly, the Federal Reserve, who created this debt based currency crisis, will be enlisted to create a CBDC. No one should have that kind of power over individuals! Much less those who failed in the first place. The world is changing very quickly. The US dollar dominance is being challenged. It's just a matter of time. I will do everything humanely possible to resist a digital identity.

I went to an estate sale a few weeks ago with my GF. We ended up taking all the fake jewelry, silver place settings, candle holders ( I like them at the cabin and around the house), the silver platers and bowls and the real jewelry. Just in 4 of the $5 bags of fake jewelry I have more than made up for what I spent many times over just in the gold, and that was just the gold-plated stuff I identified. Right now, people undervalue gold, think some stuff is just junk and worthless. What is the value of a silver fork? Figure 90% silver and 10% copper. How many ounces, but people will sell it for pennies on the dollar. Be it in a bar, coin or round, fork or ring, they are still gold and silver. The funny part, I was able to get some silver to cement out from the fake jewelry but have not refined that yet.

For me, I try to maintain a fine balance between not being tracked and not being conspicuous by being obvious in my desire not to be tracked. Sometimes, it’s safer to hide in the crowd than stand alone in the field.
On the plus side, my parents weren’t apparently all that creative when they named me. My full name is so common that you will never find me if you Google me.
So, I guess I’ve got that going for me… 🤔

Came to a similar conclusion myself. Cbdc will be voluntary until it is not. Early adopters will be rewarded. Eventually all the hold outs will be told they have to change over and no choice in the matter. Black markets and barter will always exist. With a digital currency that can be tracked down to the penny I see an increased potential for people to look for options outside the system.

A crisis can compress a timeline. But the biggest threat is those that would implement/promote/perpetuate a crisis would have to permit a crisis large enough that the loss of control would be a very real possibility. So they would lose the ability to implement whatever they wish, and we could be in serious peril

yes, gold is untraceable that is part of why they hate it so.
They can track who bought it if it was bought by a credit card yes, but what if he sold it to someone else, lost it or simply hide it somewhere?
A few years ago there was an amazing discovery in my country, a bag of 3000 year old gold springs was discovered. That was a primitive form of money. Someone had hid them somewhere and never came back for it. The poor sap was likely executed for theft but told no one where he hid the loot, and as a result it was lost to the ages for 3000 years.
That can so easily happen with gold

I've decided that I need to go back to a flip phone no data. 📵 And if I need to use a card I can get a throw away visa card at Dollar general. On the asset angle gonna keep going. I do buy goldbacks because I use them in Wyoming and South Dakota. The more they get used and not just held for novelty the more merchants take them. And they do have a conversion chart on how much is cost in cash verses much lower in goldbacks. Thanks for another great video. "You could've been a hand model" 😉 ✋️ lol..
