in australia typically "iced coffee" refers to an iced latte, if you want cold black coffee you would need to ask for an "iced long black" which is made with espresso rather than pour over

not sure if we’re from the same part of Australia, but in Melbourne, ordering an “iced coffee” will get you an iced latte with ice cream and an “iced latte” is espresso with ice and milk

Best way to make cold brew (in my opinion) is to have the coffee and water mixed together in a regular glass cup overnight. Then pour all of that into a pour over filter and let it drain. No fines and easy clean up. Also, no need to spend money on a fancy carafe.
@@cozycasasmr4510they make reusable very fine mesh metal filters you put over a cup, like a sieve. That's how I make my coffee every day and there's never a ground that gets through.
We use a French press since that's what we use for hot coffee (no unitaskers in our kitchen!) and it works well enough for us! It definitely doesn't filter out the fines (and sometimes a few larger grounds) but we don't really mind that

Ooh that sounds good! I wish that was more common over here. One cafe near me does an iced latte with whippy ice cream on top but it’s the only place I’ve seen in the uk that does this. The alternative is that a few coffee shops now do affogatos but they are much smaller drinks with just one scoop of ice cream and a shot of espresso.

If you are interested in coffee I highly recommend going to a local cafe and trying stuff. Milk helps cut back on the bitterness and most cafes have stuff to sweeten it. There's a big world of coffee out there but just remember: the best way to make coffee is the way that makes the coffee you enjoy drinking

I find that cold brew has a much more specific flavour in that you can really taste the characteristics of each individual blend. Whereas an iced long black is much more similar between blends as the flavours don’t have as long to develop depth.
I like cold brew but the kind you get at home. Since I can't handle a lot of caffeine and I dont like super strong coffee I can put a very little amount of the cold brew and then fill it up the rest of the way with milk and sugar and make a cold brew latte.

I prefer steeping mine for 12-16 hours, when I do it for 24 hours it kinda tastes... musty? Or too earthy? Not really sure but its kinda gross and off-putting. A tip to cut the acidity in your coffee. Put a dash, a half a dash actually, a tiny pinch of salt. It is a base and it neutralizes the acidic. If you put too much salt you’ll have salty coffee though, so remember, just a pinch!
In Russia, specifically in my town, we call “iced coffee” some kind of frappuccino and iced latte is just iced latte. BTW! I was hesitant to try cold brew because it seemed too strong for me, but now you mentioned that it is less acidic, which is great! Can’t wait to try it now😍

In terms of caffeine, or in terms of TDS? Because those are two radically different things. Yes, pour-overs have more caffeine, but only less than 2 % Total Dissolved Solids. Espressos, on average, have on average about 10 % of TDS. That is a radical difference.

Weird, over here in hungary "iced coffee" is always an iced latte, in many places with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I don't think I've ever ran into that first variant.
Most people in the US also add lots of creamer and sweeteners to their iced coffee (myself included) and they come in all sorts of fun flavors, like vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, pistachio, pumpkin spice in the fall and sugar cookie type stuff in the winter.

Some years ago, I was feeling a bit curious and made cold-brew coffee - I haven't been able to sleep since :) I didn't realise how much more caffeinated it would be. Since that failed experiment, if I fancy a cold coffee at home, I will brew an espresso in my stove-top mocha pot, maybe add a bit of sugar, add it to milk or evaporated milk if I'm feeling indulgent and add ice.

Its so hard to find iced coffee out anymore! Everyone loves the cold brew 🙃 but I love the bitterness! I often have to opt for an iced americano, especially if I want decaf.
iced coffee is just regular v60 brewed over rock ice that doesn't melt easily even if you pour it with brewing temperature (about 93°C). and it's called japanese ice drip. pro : fast brew time, suitable for coffee shop. less waiting time for customers. cons : the taste is worse than cold brew even if you use the exact same beans for both brewing method. edit : depend on the people taste but the best beans to make cold brew is robusta dampit planted from east java. and specialty grade arabica aceh gayo for the japanese ice drip.

Fun fact: cold brew's low acidity also makes it a good option for people who's stomachs are sensitive to a classic cup of joe. If you really can't say goodbye to your morning cup, try cold brew and see if it agrees with you more.
My go-to order is an iced americano in the mornings and a frappe any other time of day. Iced americanos are in my opinion, the fastest caffeine delivery systems (for anyone not willing to shoot espresso down their gullet) XD.

edit : depend on the people taste but the best beans to make cold brew is robusta dampit planted from east java. and specialty grade arabica aceh gayo for the japanese ice drip.

As someone who has made coldbrew coffee for the past 3 weeks.... i know how hamsters run in their wheels so fast. Delicious and great but do not take a whole glass as your shot at the bar 😂

My go-to order is an iced americano in the mornings and a frappe any other time of day. Iced americanos are in my opinion, the fastest caffeine delivery systems (for anyone not willing to shoot espresso down their gullet) XD.
