Olympiakos fan here...seating literally 50 meters from your seat,exactly behind the goalpost.
In my early 50`s,being a constant yearly ticket owner,have been so many times on our ground...shouting and screaming for my team,doing nasty jestures and trying to give you a hard time(no pun intended :)
Really loud atmosphere,game is over,then our team crosses your seats and you simply applaued them...well,man,i asked my self...why they do that after so much bigotry on our side.
And it hits me..
Being one of the oldest teams in the world,and having fans like you,then you MUST be like that..Always fun playing against an english club..!!!
Hope you win it - I know we had a few injuries but that aside you deserved the win - the atmosphere in your stadium looked brilliant from where I was sitting (in my living room in the UK) - Vila are rebuilding after years of mediocrity and we are starting to have a great team and a great manager- hopefully we will see you in the champions league one day - now go and beat fiorentina. I am about 52 years old. My first ever game to watch closely was back in the Summer of 1981 (9 years old) versus your beautiful team in the old Karaiskakis stadium. A friendly which ended 1-1. Aston Villa scored first and Olympiacos equalized. After 43 years since, it was an honour to watch our teams playing as opponents again. Good Luck to next season’s Champions League campaign. I hope that the whole of midlands and Birmingham will enjoy it!!!

We lost the tie in the first leg and it was always an uphill challenge. We rode our luck against Lille.

Sad to go out but as you say, what a great experience to watch our beloved Villa play all over Europe again …. even for me if it is only on TV in Melbourne (worlds second most Greek populous city!!). Your wallets must be empty but gee, what experiences you’ve had. So happy to see the appreciation between the the two clubs sets of supporters, these are REAL football club supporters and so to see the respect for one another as well as respect for their opposing teams is SO refreshing. What a great lad this guy..english fans are really into supporting their local teams..in Greece most of the fans support 5-6- teams only.
In England, the crowds go way deeper than the big teams. In the Championship (2nd level) there can be crowds of 30,000.
Even in non-league there are crowds of 2,000+.
All lower league / amateur teams have an opportunity to play at Wembley - Football League Trophy, FA Trophy, FA Vase.
The football pyramid in England is the strongest in the world but all the money is in the Premier League.
Just a tiny correction: original (ancient Greek) Olympic games took place in Olympia, in Peloponnese.
The stadium you were in front of, was the stadium where the first "modern" Olympic games took place, back in 1896.
And of course the name of our club comes from Olympic. :)
Regarding the match I have to say that although most of us Olympiacos fans support Liverpool (lots of similarities between the two clubs), Villa fans and you personally made a great impression! Much respect and UTV!

I don't know we ever manage to reach your standard mainly in soccer culture but for us premier league is the best league in the world. Every supporter of greek team has a favourite team in premier league. This is why we celebrate so much a win when we face one team of your league. A proud Villa Fan now in NZ our supporters were a credit to us all, true fans who just love the game win or lose, and thanks Max for bringing the event alive for us fans from around the world, it was delightful to travel with you throughout the year, and experience what you see and feel following the Villa. This has been the best year out of the 50 I have followed my team.

I love the English people, of course Aston Villa is a historic team - perhaps the most historic in England, I wish them all the best in the Champions League next year, I'm sure they will do. The only negative thing about the English teams is that they are a bit slow, if they had speed - because they have the footballers to do it - they would get very good results. Of course the coaches are to blame I think. Even Guardiola plays slowly. A bit Arsenal is somewhat fast, earlier Liverpool and earlier Manchester United. Good luck Aston Villa.
