As an Everton fan, Villa have always been class fans when they come to Goodison. Great support, and never any tragedy or poverty chanting unlike some. Id never have a second club, but if i had to choose one with a gun to my head, itd be Villa
30 years ago you could take your pick of pubs near the ground, unfortunately the new residents of Aston aren't really into alcohol so nearly all of the pubs have shut.
Thanks for that review boys and I think it's pretty fair of you to be honest. For the record, it's not just Villa and away fans who are annoyed at the Barton's Arms closing, it's the entire city. To think that Laurel and Hardy stayed there whilst on their UK tour in 1954, and given the Victorian building is still resplendent in many of its original fixtures and fittings, it's a sad loss for the city. Let's hope it reopens in another guise to provide all supporters with a base from which to start their match day journey. All the best. #UTV

Seems like a very fair assessment. 👍 The away pub situation for those who drive and park is extremely poor since the Barton Arm’s closed. I’d not be happy either. Needs fixing before next season. This season, away fans who travel by train have been spending pre match in Birmingham City Center, before getting the train to Witton Station, (6 min), and walking to VP, (10 min), in time for kick off. Great fan channel lads, (one of the best for any club actually). Keep up the good work! 👏

Villa have had Jeff Becks Hi-Ho Silver Lining since the late 70’s, The *Dog Heads* (wolves) have only started playing it over the last ten years as West Brom use The liquidator the same as wolves used to use it.
I'm 68 and we used to sing Hi Ho Aston Villa at family parties in the late 1960''s and Holte Enders in the Sky. We also used to sing the "Glory Glory Aston Villa" song in the 60's and 70's before it was nicked first by Tottenham, then eventually by Man Utd.
4th in all things. Absolutely here for it lads. Like @mudder5 I wouldn’t have imagined I’d enjoy subscribing to another teams podcast but you guys have something really special here. Good analysis, good banter, great production. Non judgemental atmosphere about all the different teams. Fantastic work. And you know what, I’ve been to Villa park a lot. I think your review is bang on. Chris heck knows there’s tonnes to do on infrastructure. We have plans to do a box park style walk up from a new and improved witton station in future, which will include a massive multimedia drinks and food hub for home and away fans. We will get it done. Amazing you went to my local pub, you really had to go far and wide to search for one 😅 I think travelling by train would give you a better experience than arriving by car with more pubs in town and the local train gets you to the ground. Great video from villa fan 👍🏻
It doesn’t solve everyone’s problem but for years I have arrived early (11am for 3pm kick-off), parked and then jumped on the bus to the City Centre where I’d meet my mates in one of many excellent pubs (Wellington Arms is outstanding). Book a 6 seat taxi for 2.15 (couple of quid each) and be in our seats for kick-off. After the game 5 minute walk back to my (free) parking spot and on the M6 in 5-10 minutes.
Villa fan here. Great show and more than fair comments. You caught our fan base on a good day. Volume has been hit and miss this season. I thought your manager was extremely gracious after the game. Keep up the good work and see you next season.
You got Villa Park on a good day, right after getting to the semi of the conference so it was always gonna be a great atmosphere. If you didnt give us 10 for noise i would have been fuming. Seeing as i didnt stop hearing about how there was no away pubs for the week before, ill take 50 points and 4th. See you next season, hopefully with a bloody away pub!

I'm a Southampton supporter with a season ticket next to the away fans enclosure and can confirm that Villa are the only club whose visit actually hurt my ears
Yeah,I can believe it mate,our loyal away support is very good & we always take the maximum allocation we can get & are sold as quick as a flash,in fact Home & Away there's never enough tickets for the volume of demand,at Villa park we've got a capacity of 42.640 & is sold out for every home game,we also have 35.000 on a waiting list for a season ticket,we need a much bigger capacity than what we currently have,we've out grown Villa Park in a big way & although we have planning permission for a new North stand, it's only gonna increase our capacity to 52.000+ which isn't nearly enough, it's also been put on hold twice cos of delays in transport improvements around Villa park & a reduced capacity for 18 months just when we're doing so well. Some might think I'm bias towards Villa,but I can honestly say 100% that Villa fans are one of the best around in terms of noise levels & loyalty to the club whatever happens...... up the mighty Villa!!! 😊
love the content im a villa fan shame about the pubs but they have had a few problems with away fans and with some of the euro ties they decided to prevent away fans drinking to close

As daft as I’m about to sound I would say this season for loudness, 1 Aston Villa as the full stadium was rocking but 2 Man City, those fans around us were raucous, Personally this was my number 1 away day this season, loved the weather, I enjoyed the game and maybe that’s the tactic to silence the away fans and that’s to give them 3rd degree burns with the fire See you Sunday

Long term Villa STH, good and fair assessment lads. Parking over the last 15 years has become awful, if you want to park close to the ground on the roads then its 2+ hours before kick off, otherwise its 20+ minute walk from 1.5+ hour or park at Star City an hour before the game and 30+ minute walk. They have put a new AV82 bus on match days that comes from New Street, so easier for train journeys. But overall travel and parking is something the club need to sort out with the council, who at this time have gone bankrupt. A lot of fans would have supported a new ground being built purely as they are fed up with the parking and travel problems.
Hi lads as always great content,the lack of an away pub is more than likely to do with the area as you would have noticed there are a lot of asians (not the drinking kind) living in wotton and Aston thus tends to lack of pubs and with near full crowds every home match they tender to the home fans ,next time i suggest if you stoop to such levels an offy just after the witton station on the right we get drinks from there and drink them in the gardens of Witton lane opposite the Diug Ellis stand keep up grate work
Villa fan here. home pub situation isn’t much better neither. Some great pubs in brum centre so I’d suggest to any away fans to do what we do get a pint in town and get an Uber or train back to Aston in time for the game. If your into your real ale there’s some top options as well. Love the bud fellas, glad you enjoyed your experience
I go up to Villa a reasonable amount, and I must say that the pub thing isn’t the best but there is a Tesco down the road which is only £6.50 to park, and you could always get a couple cans there 😏
Also guys, you need to understand the context of why there are no pubs for away fans around Villa Park. It's a systemic reason that I'd be happy to explain to you. Just ask me.
The Barton Arms should be under new ownership by the start of next season. Go for a pint in there, then walk towards the Holte End via Aston Park and we're winning both leagues.
It's sign of the times regarding pubs, there's lots of them closing. People only use them on weekends, very expensive to run.. It's probably best to find one just out of the city if you can..
I recommended The Bartons Arms to you last year so I'm a big fan of old traditional pubs. If you want other traditional pubs around the area then there's The Manor Tavern, The Albion Vaults and The Villa Tavern. Although keep in mind that I'm not entirely sure whether they take away fans and they're nowhere near as good as The Bartons Arms.
Love this vid, I live by the ground and although I've never had an issue.. it is run down, with a full range of white goods available on every street corner 😅

Getting an away pub is going to be hard I’m afraid. The demographics of the area has resulted in so many pubs closing. Villa have also decided to make The Holte Suite, which was used for a pre-game drink, into a premier hospitality area. So there’s even more demand for local boozers. Sorry
I get free on road parking with a 20 minute walk to the ground and an easy quick drive to get onto the M6 North or South at the end of the game - local knowledge is worth £6 every home game 😁UTV
Sorry about the pub issues... once was many... but sign of the times... high Muslim population in the area so the good old pubs are closings down as cannot survive just on the football season customers.. next time try the south harbour pub.. or go into erdington... you have the swan.. church tavern.. pheasant plucker..or Witherspoon's Charlie hall.. red lion.. sports social club.. then a straight run to the ground or a quick bus hop.. up the villa..
I’d recommend trying to park at star city next time or powerleague. Star city you could then either jump on spaghetti junction or drive down a47 to junction 5 m6
I can understand if your an away fan, The Yew Tree is some way away from Villa Park as well as The Yenton. The yew tree is from what I remember more of a blue nose pub. The Yenton is one of the worst pubs around and considered very low leveI, I've lived in Birmingham for 53 years and supported Villa that long. I know the Yenton very well and would always avoid. Even though It's quite a long way from Villa Park it is classed as a Villa pub as oppossed to a Blues boozer (Birmingham Shitty FC). There are a lot of changes happening at Villa, I see pubs, places to eat are superb for Villa fans. More to come, Remember we planned to extend Villa Park but that was scrapped for now. So whats next for the mighty Villa Park?
Flattery will get you everywhere. 😘 UTV. The pre match stuff is weird. Villa Park is sandwiched between an industrial estate and an inner city residential area with a high Muslim population so there’s not a huge demand for pubs on non match days, therefore there aren’t that many pubs nearby. There should be something for away fans, especially as a lot of home fans will use the city centre before heading to the stadium. It’s quite easy to get from the city centre to Villa Park on the train so it might be worth doing that next year.
Used to be a cracking Irish club near VP. Home fans in one room, away in the adjacent room, never any trouble. Think it burned down ! Bring it back Villa, maybe not for Legia Warsaw though eh? 😮

Great idea for a Vlog guys and that’s from a Villa fan. Shame about a pub for the away fans tbh I’ve had a lot ask about that this year. Thanks for the good comments about us tho we have got amazing supporters you only have to see our vlogs about our last game at palace, lost 5-0 never stopped singing and loads stayed for the palace lap of honour. Long term Villa STH, good and fair assessment lads. Parking over the last 15 years has become awful, if you want to park close to the ground on the roads then its 2+ hours before kick off, otherwise its 20+ minute walk from 1.5+ hour or park at Star City an hour before the game and 30+ minute walk. They have put a new AV82 bus on match days that comes from New Street, so easier for train journeys. But overall travel and parking is something the club need to sort out with the council, who at this time have gone bankrupt. A lot of fans would have supported a new ground being built purely as they are fed up with the parking and travel problems.

Hi lads as always great content,the lack of an away pub is more than likely to do with the area as you would have noticed there are a lot of asians (not the drinking kind) living in wotton and Aston thus tends to lack of pubs and with near full crowds every home match they tender to the home fans ,next time i suggest if you stoop to such levels an offy just after the witton station on the right we get drinks from there and drink them in the gardens of Witton lane opposite the Diug Ellis stand keep up grate work

Villa fan here. home pub situation isn’t much better neither. Some great pubs in brum centre so I’d suggest to any away fans to do what we do get a pint in town and get an Uber or train back to Aston in time for the game. If your into your real ale there’s some top options as well. Love the bud fellas, glad you enjoyed your experience
I go up to Villa a reasonable amount, and I must say that the pub thing isn’t the best but there is a Tesco down the road which is only £6.50 to park, and you could always get a couple cans there 😏

Next year, park at star city. Free parking, bowling alley has a bar which we see away fans in all the time. 25 min walk!!

The Barton Arms should be under new ownership by the start of next season. Go for a pint in there, then walk towards the Holte End via Aston Park and we're winning both leagues.
It's sign of the times regarding pubs, there's lots of them closing. People only use them on weekends, very expensive to run.. It's probably best to find one just out of the city if you can..
You should park in the city, loads of great pubs and then get the free bus or train to the stadium next time
I recommended The Bartons Arms to you last year so I'm a big fan of old traditional pubs.
If you want other traditional pubs around the area then there's The Manor Tavern, The Albion Vaults and The Villa Tavern. Although keep in mind that I'm not entirely sure whether they take away fans and they're nowhere near as good as The Bartons Arms.
Love this vid, I live by the ground and although I've never had an issue.. it is run down, with a full range of white goods available on every street corner 😅
The club can't do much about the local residents and their lack of respect for where they live.

Getting an away pub is going to be hard I’m afraid. The demographics of the area has resulted in so many pubs closing. Villa have also decided to make The Holte Suite, which was used for a pre-game drink, into a premier hospitality area. So there’s even more demand for local boozers. Sorry

Best option is drink in the centre and get train to the ground or go Jewellery Quarter great pubs/bars and a short cab ride.
I get free on road parking with a 20 minute walk to the ground and an easy quick drive to get onto the M6 North or South at the end of the game - local knowledge is worth £6 every home game 😁UTV

Have a drink in the city centre before the match and get the train in! Loads of pubs in the city centre. Park your car at Northfield Park and Ride

Sorry about the pub issues... once was many... but sign of the times... high Muslim population in the area so the good old pubs are closings down as cannot survive just on the football season customers.. next time try the south harbour pub.. or go into erdington... you have the swan.. church tavern.. pheasant plucker..or Witherspoon's Charlie hall.. red lion.. sports social club.. then a straight run to the ground or a quick bus hop.. up the villa..

I’d recommend trying to park at star city next time or powerleague. Star city you could then either jump on spaghetti junction or drive down a47 to junction 5 m6

I can understand if your an away fan, The Yew Tree is some way away from Villa Park as well as The Yenton. The yew tree is from what I remember more of a blue nose pub. The Yenton is one of the worst pubs around and considered very low leveI, I've lived in Birmingham for 53 years and supported Villa that long. I know the Yenton very well and would always avoid. Even though It's quite a long way from Villa Park it is classed as a Villa pub as oppossed to a Blues boozer (Birmingham Shitty FC). There are a lot of changes happening at Villa, I see pubs, places to eat are superb for Villa fans. More to come, Remember we planned to extend Villa Park but that was scrapped for now. So whats next for the mighty Villa Park?
Love villa park. Went by train and drunk in city centre . The day was let down only by sitting in away upper tier where there is No Bar!!!!!

The pre match stuff is weird. Villa Park is sandwiched between an industrial estate and an inner city residential area with a high Muslim population so there’s not a huge demand for pubs on non match days, therefore there aren’t that many pubs nearby. There should be something for away fans, especially as a lot of home fans will use the city centre before heading to the stadium. It’s quite easy to get from the city centre to Villa Park on the train so it might be worth doing that next year.
Used to be a cracking Irish club near VP. Home fans in one room, away in the adjacent room, never any trouble. Think it burned down ! Bring it back Villa, maybe not for Legia Warsaw though eh? 😮
