நீலக் கடலாலே ... நீலநிறக் கடலாலும்,
மெள்ளவரு ... மெதுவாக வந்து (தன்சோகக் குரலைக் காட்டும்)
சோலைக் குயிலாலே ... சோலையிலுள்ள குயிலினாலும்,
மெய்யுருகு மானை ... காதலால் உடல் உருகும் மான் போன்ற

இப்பாடல் அகத்துறையில், 'நாயக நாயகி' பாவத்தில் நாயகியின் நற்றாய்
கூறுவதுபோல அமைந்தது. மன்மதன், அம்புகள், கடல், குயில் ஆகியவை
விரகத்தைத் தூண்டுபவை.

This song is based on the NAyaka-NAyaki BhAva, where the poet, assuming the heroine's mother's role, expresses the pang of separation from the hero, Murugan.
