I have too much hair..
this one really hit me hard...i took my first solo trip last september, simply because i wanted to see the stars uninterrupted...i laid down on my inflatable mattress in the bed of my truck and just stared at the sky as it got darker and darker...the only thing i could hear was the odd free range cow grazing and some other wildlife...but the part i heard clearest was me...i needed that time alone...i needed that time to listen to my heart...it was the most beautiful thing i have ever experienced...i just stared at the stars and cried...i aint ashamed to admit it...i cried tears of joy, happiness, sadness, heartbreak...everything came out at once...it was exactly what we all need from time to time...the ability to reflect upon ourselves and all that we have been through...Shaun, my friend, you got me this time...i got choked up...this was the realest video i have seen thus far on youtube...much love and happy adventuring!
You definitely understand. 👍
everybody needs some time on their own, to enjoy our own nature
Hey Shaun, this is my honest opinion. For the first time in a while you made a video about something real. The situation as a beginner is something we all recognize and I think this is why you gained so many followers in the very beginning. Your video's made me believe anyone can do and experience this. Thank you.
I also like the fact that the ending of the video feels like the ending of the video, instead of the middle of the adventure.
Thanks for the feedback!
yup
I’ve always called the woods my church. It’s amazing the power it has to soothe your soul. As always, great video.
that’s why I love to go for a hike Sunday mornings. 🌲
There is such a peace being in creation all alone. When the man-made world is chaos, nature is ordered and exactly as it should be.
I just got home from a five day Sierra trip. My 92 y/o dad recently passed. My reset. I found the most amazing place in the northeastern Sierras. Tribal land. Absolutely silent at night. No lights, no noise, no people....I needed this. Started out with a Plan A and Plan B. Both washed out. So I did a Plan C on the fly. No research, no nothing. It worked.
Do you want to know how beautiful this place is? Sean is a UA-camr, not an assistant director for movies. With a drone and excellent musical choices he captures the beauty. It's that beautiful. Open the border please. Between you and Casey Ive seen things and areas I never would have seen. Thank you I have to see it live. I'm ready..
Loved this video Shaun. I spend allot of time alone after losing my husband of 30 years last June. I own a beautiful Rubicon Gladiator I bought myself. I am hoping to go camping someday probably by myself. But in the meantime, your videos help me through my evenings and give me some hope for a future adventure that I would love someday to do. Thank you for the pleasure you give me watching and forgetting a little while how alone I really am.
Why wait! Go out and enjoy ASAP! More power to ya Laurie!
I think my best times were the old, near-stock TJ days of solo camping just as Shaun describes at the beginning of the video.
I miss those days.
This is one of my favorite thoughts of late. I'll regret going big on my 4Runner build in 2-5 years, I know it. I enjoy my 31" tires, nothing breaking, no worries. Parts are cheap, fuel milage is 19-21mpg, and it's easy to get into. I think I'll go 33" tires, but no larger. I already regret my rear locker sometimes because it's so harsh on my daily drive on city streets. An LSD or electric locker would be nice in the future
@@j_mars_cars
It's not too late to change things up.
Rip out the locker, sell it and install a fully selectable like an ARB. If you offroad solo and DD, a locker is a nice "safety" device, but full selectable keeps it as a great DD.
I watched that video back in 2016. I believe logging mature trees brings new growth as in diversity as a by product of industrial wealth.
Quick solo camping trip up in the mountains outside of town right now....as I watch this! I hear nature....no horns, sirens, chatter or opinions. Literally thought to myself, before watching the video, that I am "recharging"......love this stuff...and the video. Keep the spirit alive brother! Nice work.
Enjoy!
Old but gold, reminds me of my old days in 1300dollar ‘95 rusty Pathfinder. Traveled solo to the Rockies, Yoho, Olds, Edmonton everywhere. Great times. Thanks!
I used to do solo trips in my 88 Cherokee. Then came the kids ... and they were in car seats when we started heading out (my son was two weeks old). I got ALOT of double takes when other wheelers passed us and saw the kids in the back seat (usually passed out). Then it got that much more awesome. ... still in that 88 Cherokee 24 years later ... back to solo. And when I come across logging activity I think. "Most everything we explore is because of logging or industry of some sort." If they didn't go there, to these places, we would never get there, we would have no way in. ... I say that, and I'm a bit of a tree hugger.... got that fire going quick. If you need a fan to get your campfire going,... you aren't doing it right.
Sometimes I go out to the desert alone and yes the sound of silence is amazing.
I very much prefer solo travelling. You do what you want....stop where you want....eat what you want....it's pure bliss.
Been doing solo camping for years. The silence and just listening to nature is awesome. I use my Suzuki DRZ400 for camping as well as the jeep. The DRZ will get me in to some places that even the Jeep can't make it to.
Good stuff!
i travel by myself always...so much easier and 'quieter' ...i have tried adventuring with others but i guess i'm just too independent
I go alone and call it Soul-O trips.
@@simpleinstinct Wow nic 1😮♥️
Solo camping is definitely a must
Sometimes, I do trips on my own. Just me and my Wrangler, but I always also meet nice people, too. You forgot the early morning swim, Shaun. That's part of sound of silence. :)
My first Campingtrip with my Family was 89. I was born in 87. The trip went to Italy with the motorhome. I Love Camping. My next Offroadcar is a VW Amarok
Hi Shaun l’m Australian overlander just 30 years and enjoyed always solo travel , nothing is better if you have vehicle knowledge and experience. Ted.
Totally agree
Wow!! That drone footage of the mist over the lake was insane. I had to rewind and see it again.
I think this is your best video. Of all time.
Hey brother back to your roots of adventure. AWESOME. Love this style of video
Brother I do the solo trips on a regular basis...they're the best
Best adventures have been always been by myself or just my dog and myself... especially seeing lots of time it's just me and pup out hunting or scouting for hunting season.. always definitely more relaxing and feeling free and peacefulness
Finally... a REAL camping video. There is nothing like solo camping, good for the soul, good for your general well-being overall. No radios, no music, no phones... you and mother nature.... perfect!! But are missing one very important thing..... a fishing rod!!
use of quiet music and natural audio was genius. well done.
Thank you
The silence is beautiful!
Thank you Shaun for Sharing this Awesome Adventure.WOW!!! What Beautiful Scenery and a Fabulous Gladiator
I think you and jailbreak overlander need to meet, you both have really great shows...I really like what you both do...
The music is insane !!!
Absolutely awesome. A trip to rediscovery some peace! Absolutely what I'm looking for! Thanks for sharing this trip. Cheers and keep these coming!
beautiful. Makes me wanna go on an adventure by myself.
I absolutely loved this video!👍
The two door Cherokee was bad ass! I am a huge fan of Venture 4wd. and now I know why. I love the solo videos. Just a way more intimate experience.
I'm always going on Solo trips in my old 2000 Cherokee XJ and am planning on another one soon in Ouray Colorado.
Beautiful, peaceful video... i really like your narration during the videos too.... nice to see a nostalgic look back when u had the cherokee, and back at the tower 👍
Love this. Thank you for sharing it.
Cant wait!! It gonna be a good one
Best video so far that you've done. Back to basics!
Outstanding once again my friend.
Your videos are just too great! Everything about them
one of the top 10 adventures to date Shaun, love'n the solo stuff, time to recharge the batteries ..... keep on trailing...
Epic as always!
Nice video Shaun..! Inspiring..!!!
Wow, wow, wow. Great story, really great visuals. One of my favourites !. 🙏 🌲
Epic ! Thank you for take us with you 🤝
that's so inspiring, thanks for your videos and best regards from Germany!
I do that all the time its all about the adventure! Keep up the great work
Another awesome video. Loved the story behind your old solo trip as well. Both the fire tower and the lake looked like incredible sites.
For me, solo is the only way to go. Getting out alone is the best way for me to recharge, and balance myself out. There's nothing like the silence, and doing whatever you want, whenever you want, with no external pressure. To me, it just feels like true freedom.
very cool. There is alot to be said for being out by yourself. Companionship is great but sometimes we all should TRULY GET AWAY. Love the videos and channel
loved everything about this video. great one!
I miss my old TJ rubicon. It was stock but let me tell you... the memories I made in that thing with my buddies are unforgettable.
We don’t talk much these days, but looking back at some of those videos we filmed bring back good vibes.
Another great one as always Shaun 🤙🏽
Another level...love it!
Love this episode. No lakes around here (U.S. east coast) where I can be totally alone but my favorite campground has just 19 sites, right on a smallish lake that doesn't allow motorboats. Been going there for thirty years, usually with others but sometimes solo -- well, just me and my dog. And a good book and my canoe. That's Heaven on Earth for me, serenaded by bullfrogs, birds and fish jumping out of the water.
BC version of the legendary solo camper Ali Leiniö. I like.
Once again a great video!!!
Nice trip .
Love the adventures you get to go on .
BC is an amazing place . I visited there from the uk around 1983 .
Always said I want to go back .
Love how you cut this together utilizing a lack of music and just good natural sound frequently. Beautifully done
Great video ! A bit laid back and beautiful scenery!
Excellent video!
That spot is so beautiful we go up all the time!!! It’s peaceful. Another amazing video Shaun
Great video man!
Big fan of your videos
Great video Shaun. I loved all the old footage from 2016 - it's interesting to see how far you've come with your adventures, filming and the channel.
Glad you enjoyed it
Really make me and the family want to move to Canada with all this beautiful scenery. I’d love to get out and do adventures like this soon. Plan to get a new Bronco in the next few years and have some adventures of our own. We’re limited to paved roads and tame trails in our Explorer sport. Though it does get us around well through the Colorado Rockies when we get to travel there. Cheers
Good stuff as always, but I especially enjoyed the tone somehow. Kudos. I like to hunt on my own for much the same reasons - some mornings when I'm the only one on the mountain, the silence is almost hard on the ears. We've got a 2nd owner '87 Cherokee 2 door in the yard here that I really should work on and get back into the hills. Thanks again and Happy Father's Day.
I like how your music is always spot on!! Cool episode
Best about Monday, your videos 😎
Wow, thanks!
Awesome Shaun.. I am missing this silence and adventure so much right.
Amazing videography and editing skills! I love it!
Fantastic Shaun. Great edit.
Thanks 👍
My family and friends always praise me for camping out or going off road alone. The experience is different and for sure not for the fainthearted. Though I haven't done it in years since my truck isn't that reliable as it sits presently but hopefully when I pick up something new to me and diesel... I can go out without doubts.
The location the area is just beautiful
Great video. Thanks for sharing your passion it inspires many of us to continue to get out and explore this beautiful place we live!!
Thanks for watching!
oh man, love a good battery reset, i felt this video,
Enjoyed the video
So good!
This is the dream. I have done this and it's very enjoyable and relaxing.
Perfect video mate, this is what got me on board following and supporting your youtube. you've inspired me all the way here in Aus to be an overlander
Amazing video. 🔥
Great video. You're an awesome story teller
Another awesome video. Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love this video, for some reason it resonates more than some of the others lately. Great job!
Awesome! Thank you!
Cinematography 🔥❤️
Damn bro nice cool setup and upgrades and tire carrier on that gladiator yours right on
That’s gotta be hard talking about a sponsor like that , I’d have hard time keeping straight face😅, great episode as always ! 🙌
I camp by myself alllll the time ! Great times
*I Love the sounds of frogs.* Another awesome video Shaun. Thank you
Editing is top notch as always
Awesome video, I have never done a solo camp. Will have to do it sometime soon.
P.s also soooo happy you sat the camera down to talk to it. When you carry it around it almost gives me motion sickness
I became single a couple years ago. It took a minute to get used to the idea of being completely alone in the wilderness. It was my Garmin Inreach that set me free
Pretty nice one 👍 I made my trips also alone, but here is no chance to get lost…🥲
the wife and i were up there last year and i knew that they were going to log that area cause of all the flagging tape everywhere.
hopefully they won't go passed were the old bridge used to be. i understand that its a catch 22 with logging. if they don't log, then they trails won't be there, and new trails won't be made and maintained. it was tough to see though. plus i worry that it makes it abit easier for the yahoos to get into places, party and leave a mess. i'm in my mid 40's and haven't seen it like that since i was in my late teens up in that area.
great video. i'm a big fan of solo camping.
if you are ever in newton, pop by my auto shop.
keep up the great stuff buds.
Stupendous filming. Loved it. 😍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome!
Your videos are awesome..! I have watched most of them, you are inspiring us to do over landing adventures. ❤️
Glad you like them!
Yes. I do❤️, You are living in my dream life, I am planing to migrate to Canada, most probably next year, your videos have inspired me come to BC . One day I would like to join you gays for a journey if could. Thanks for these videos Man. You are doing it great.
Really enjoyed this video. Well done!
Thank you very much!
Having a time out and being alone is it self mind cure. I don't mind doing this from time to time (meditation 🧘♂️).
I really like your soundtrack, as well as your content. You do nice work
Thank you very much!
One of my favourite episodes. Keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
