*This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*
Note: discharge occurs between pins 2 and pin 5. *Warning* to anyone about to attempt this process! Release the paperclip every 2-3 seconds. If the battery has a charge the paperclip will become *very hot very quickly*. Use appropriate protection between the paperclip and your fingers. The battery will heat up as well and you can irreversibly damage the battery casing, or worse, cause the battery to burst into flames.
Making use of the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 reconditioning plan, I just saved 2 auto batteries from being completely junked. The guides were very simple to follow. I wish I would have found this years ago! You may use the guide to recondition any battery type
I seriously can't believe this worked, but it totally did (on the second attempt). One thing the video isn't quite clear about is that you need to hold down the 1&5 and the 2&6 combo for bit longer (I did each combo for like 10 seconds). Thank you!
Worked like a charm. Thank you for the valuable info. If anyone is still having issues, pin #2 is positive and pin #5 is negative. Use an old phone charger and cut the end with wires exposed, red is positive and black is negative. Just like giving a dead cat battery a jump start. Hold them on the designated pins for a few moments and continue with this fix and all should work well. Thanks again bro!
I had a deep discharged pack and to fix it I wired two paper clips between pin 2 and 2 (plus) and pin 5 and 5 (minus) of the dead (0.003V) and a fully charged (2.7V) battery pack and left it for about 30-60 seconds. After that I measured roughly 2.7V on the previously dead rechargeable and I could charge it again using the xbox charge station.
This needs to be at the top. This is the solution to a fully discharged battery pack. I had a pack that wouldn't turn red or green. I checked the voltage and got similar readings (0.003V on the dead, and 2.7V on the charged). I wired 2 to 2, and 5 to 5 for 30 seconds. The dead pack registered at 2.7V afterwards, and viola: it can charge again!! Now I'm wishing I hadn't thrown out 2 other dead packs that wouldn't charge with the method above.
+Felix Bünemann DUDE YESSS thank you soo much! looked everywhere on how to fix a fully discharged battery! tried leaving it plugged in, wiring the terminals up to a charger everything but no luck then i saw your comment and now it works!
Bro you are the man. Im sure for the people who followed your steps and their controllers still arent working probably have some other issue because id did what you did and my controller works just fine now Cheers!
Awesome, my batteries were already dead to a point where it needed to be charged, so I just did the reset of the logic board. Slapped it in my controller hooked in the charge/play cord and the light turned red and now is charging. Thx so very much.
Warning : hold the battery with padded blanket or something and dont aim any end at you, I had a battery pack explode while doing this. Ive done this many times before but this last time it scared the shit outta me. stay safe
My empty battery pack was fully charged after 10min. and drained over the same period. But now, it still charging over 3 hours. Thank you mister !!! (Sorry for my english :)
Works like a charm. What actually causes the problem in the first place because my battery work perfectly fine and then I didn't use it for a couple weeks and boom its shows green light but isn't charged. Thanks again
For everyone that is having trouble with the paper clip getting hot, it worked for me when I connected 2 and 5 (instead of 2 and 4 as stated in the video). Try it that way to see if it works
I just fixed my pack by plugging/unplugging the charging cable several times over (10-15 times) and then leaving it plugged in for a bit. At first the red light came on after about a minute (where as before it was just a flash of green and then nothing), then it fully charged to green and works. I recommend trying this simple trick before attempting the battery discharging trick in the video.
after i touch the contacts together how long should I hold the paper clip on it? you say i will feel it heat up but how long will it take? i've done it and held it there 10 or 15 seconds but never felt it heat up.
Update: After doing this it worked a couple times and now it won't take any charge. This trick may only work a couple times.I was hoping it would fix it for a while
my battery isn't heating up, I've read the comments and stuff and tried 2 and 4 and 2 and 5. Should i be concerned that its not heating or is it better? any help is appreciated
I don't have a paperclip near me. Is it possible to use another metal source, like a cobber wire or small metal wires you use in small electronic circuits?
i have same problem where the battery pack thing, is for the rechargeable station from NYKO....anyways so everytime i wanna play i turn on a controller and immediately it dies so i put it to charge but it says its fully charged....like it's green for a full charge But the controller just doesn't wanna work, I'm not sure at this point if its the controller or the battery, or possibly BOTH....anything i can do to fix this problem.🤔🤔🤔🤔
The procedure did not work on one battery pack that has died on me. The paper clip never got warm when shorting pins 2 and 4. The battery still had a little power on it because it could drive the control for 10 seconds after disconnecting the charger cable. Any ideas what could I do apart from buying a new battery pack? Thanks.
I'm having the same problem. I plug my cord in after "shorting" my battery and then touch the correct pins as done in the video. I put my battery pack but in controller plug in cord. Acts like it's charging and the the light turns green. Indicating it's done charging
Found that that battery was completely dead. Bought a new battery and it is working well again. There is a point where you need power from the heavens to put a Lazarus resurrection into a very old battery pack ;)
Hahah, I just took the battery pack apart and uses the batteries that were in there. They worl fine they've lasted me a couple weeks now. It's kinda weird. Maybe it was my cord
it was constant green light before i tried ur way and now no light after i put battery back and start charging and then after i tried that resetting logic again and again. i got green light for about 10 secs and no light again....my battery is only 2 month old .....
That's not the problem with my controller what's going on is when my battery is fully charged it won't even turn on my controller at all it blinks barely few times and then it shuts off not even giving it a chance for it to turn on I have to use the charging cable to keep my controller on why is that
so my batteries are really dead they don't even last a second after I unplug. I am thinking on getting a new ones, I don't that much, what should I do to not kill the batteries again?
I think I'm running into the same situation. Unfortunately there is no way to really prevent this. Batteries do get old. I would be interested to see if the 3rd party Lithium Ion batteries are any better.
How long do you wait 'til the paper clip gets hot? It's not getting hot for me. I feel like I'm just scraping and scratching the gold plates on the battery pack =\
Any other ways to fix the battery? I tried the method it didnt help most other people said hut the 2-5 to drain it then 1-5 then 2-6 not 2-4 I tried them both but neither 2-4 or 2-5 heat up the metal or battery. It has a small bit of juice in it but when I plug it to the charger it turns green right away. Well a quick 1 second red then green.
I wouldn't recommend it. You don't want the battery to overheat from discharging either. The indication that it is getting too hot is when the paperclip is too hot to hold.
followed your instructions but it dtill didn't work when I plugged in the usb charging cable to the controller to.charge the battery the led light would flash up in green once, but very briefly... so I cleaned the contacts of the controller and the usb charging.cable for the wireless controller, and plugged it in.and out several times, and what do you know, the red led popped up and its now charging the battery!
I over charged my rechargeable battery pack and as soon as I unplug it dies so I got two new battery packs and put those in plugged the charger in and the controller says its fully charged when you press the home button but when I unplug it dies right away so I thought it was just that controller but no I plugged both battery's in to the other controller but it doesn't work ether if you know what to do can you message me thanks
i tried that method and still no luck i got a ni-mh 4800mah brand new got it from amazon n wen i plug it in it wont turn on with my halo 4 remoter but it does turn on with my white remote n it just flashes n wen i sync it ti the system it wont connect what should i do send it bak or what
before this my controller said it had a two bar i did this i didnt plug the charger in and turned it on it said it was a full bar what does this mean? did i fuck up my battery?
Your battery is probably fine. Just make sure your battery is near dead when doing this trick, and use the paper clip to drain it completely. The paperclip should not warm up if the battery is completely dead.
Minds have like 6 burn marks on it and it doesn't recharge I think what you said first about my battery getting. Hot is what happen. One day I just left my battery on the charging station not the controller I came back it was dead and wouldn't recharge.
okay so my handle doesnt work without my charger like if i take the charger off my handle shuts off. it doesnt even turn on for a second. does that mean my battery pack is fucked? and do i need a new one?
roldrix reyes I went to gamestop and the dude said to put the battery pack in the freezer for like an hour and a half to recharge the ions or some bullshit..buttttt ehhhh i dont feel comfy doing that. so im just gonna buy a new handle or just get a new battery pack from gamestop website its pretty cheap.
dude i try it out but doesnt work T_T ive bought 3 battery pack and honestly i feel microsoft product have terrible QC compare to ps3 yes i own both console and my xbox is always the 1 giving me problem
+Krixko If you have discharged and recharged your batteries a lot, it may be that the battery cells themselves will no longer accept charge. In this situation reviving the battery like that doesn't work because the cells are dead and will not hold their charge. The only fix is to either remove the dead cells and replace them (extremely dangerous), or buy a new battery. This should still work if you have only used the batteries for a while, but if you try to do it after two or three years of daily use without experiencing this problem, the cells can very well be ruined.
can somebody help me just bought a battery today and its not working when charger is not connected and when connected the charging light is not switching on can somebody help me plz
Waooooo!!you a fucking genius, mine wasnt working at all for days and I didnt know what to do. Just did exactly whats on the video and immediately my controler started charging. Thanks brooo
+Stacy Vayne If you mean on a cell phone battery, then probably no because the cell phone takes care of the charging and cell monitoring, so there is no internal logic chip to reset in the battery.
PLS help it worked the first time on only one battery pack but when i was using it the next day it was almost completely drained, im trying to repeat the same advice on the video and nothing at all this time.
Very interesting. I tried it with one battery and plugged it into a charging station, but no go. Then I put it into a controller and plugged in a charging cable. At first, nothing....but now I see the red light on the cable is now ON and it appears to be charging! Time will tell~
My dang battery pack is only 4 months old (Got it for Christmas) yet from basically day one, it wouldn't charge or it say's it's fully charged yet it dies two seconds later. So I'll get back to you and let ya'll know if this fixes it.
Alfredo Guzman Kinda. I did the thing in this video and it fixed it for a little while, then it went back to not charging. So I did it again and it seems to have fixed it once more. So it seems like if the logic board is bad in the battery pack, then this fix will temporarily fix it. So that's better then nothing.
Omg , I was scared to do it at first, because of the comments of blowing up the battery , but I did it and it worked ! Thanks so much I have had 5 rechargeable batteries and now they work ! Thanks so much
Yoo guys i have a problem wich is when i connect the cable a green ligth appears and then goes away when a red light is suppose to show up i did this dont know if it actually worked but i tried cleaning or rubbing something on the 6 pattern and i notice they were a little dirty and made me think that was the reason why i was not sending electricity
This method FAILED for me on 4 battery packs that haven't been used in years. They also had very little use before putting them into storage. They're completely dead now and I tried this method many, many times on each of the batteries. I'm just going to use the regular battery covers and get some good rechargeable AA batteries.
Mine wont discharge or reset. tred several times and it wont do anything. i even tried re-charging it on the dock and it charges fine, but the controller still wont turn on
I just tried this with pin #2 and #4...it did nothing. I then tried pin 2 and 5 and.....it drained! I checked the Voltage before draining, it was at 2.6. After about 15 to 20 minutes of off and on draining, it got down to 1.06. Then I did the "reset" with pin 1-5 and then 2-6. Charging battery now. Let's see if it holds a charge now. I'll edit this later for update on results.
@@WantBadtime -- I forgot all about this. But a year ago I tried this on 2 batteries. It worked on one. But the other would only hold a charge for about 10 minutes and die. I checked today after charging them both and the good one still holds a charge of 3 out of the 4 lines when you press the XBOX button on the controller to check the battery. Then, I tried this "fix" to the dead one today. After draining it and charging it, it has 2.72 volts. I turned on the 360 with it, and it now too has 3 out of the 4 lines. Don't know if it will last, but it did seem to work this time. The other one that it did work for last year still holds that same charge. So it does work. The only thing I did different this time was = after draining it, I pressed and held the 1-5 and 2-6 for about 10 seconds each. Maybe that made the difference?

I just threw mine on the floor and it started working 😂😂😂
same
No way
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude! Thank you! This totally worked for me, haha!
Haha 😅

It works! My paperclip didn't get hot because the battery was already totally empty, so it was enough to touch only 1-5 and 2-6

Good advice! I had no fully charged battery packs left so instead a used an AA battery and two paperclips. Worked like a charm!
+Nick how did you put the "+" and "-" sides of the AA battery?
+Felix Bünemann DUDE YESSS thank you soo much! looked everywhere on how to fix a fully discharged battery! tried leaving it plugged in, wiring the terminals up to a charger everything but no luck then i saw your comment and now it works!
Works perfectly . You can also use a stabilized 3V Power Adapter with cable clips and do this . Measure polarity first though :)
Its pin 2 and 5 to discharge.
Didn't heat up but worked
Awesome
BRO this was the problem, if you're still alive thank you lmao

Good advice. Batteries CAN be dangerous. Usually they are pretty safe, but we are getting them kind of hot. Safety glasses don't hurt.
+ExtraEme I dnt have paper clips can I use something else plz reply bro
+Birkaran Singh Basically anything thats made of metal is fine for example a piece of copper wire
good tip. god bless you

9 years ltr, this video just saved my money and my reputatio, well dome it works very well
Worked for me too! Fantastic! I was fixin to spend another $30 for a couple more packs, and now I don't have too. Us old farts CAN learn new tricks.
I just fixed my pack by plugging/unplugging the charging cable several times over (10-15 times) and then leaving it plugged in for a bit. this happens to me rn
just discharge it by running it dry within the controller then do 1-5 2-6 shorting a full li-ion batterey can be very dangerous.
after i touch the contacts together how long should I hold the paper clip on it? you say i will feel it heat up but how long will it take? i've done it and held it there 10 or 15 seconds but never felt it heat up.
2 to 3 Seconds, after remove it, wait until it gets cold, and put it again
I was literally about to do this and suddenly the battery starts charging. Ah well.
My advice for anyone doing this is be careful while doing it and take your time on each step.Don't rush.
Update: After doing this it worked a couple times and now it won't take any charge. This trick may only work a couple times.I was hoping it would fix it for a while
Fred Pavlish My guess is the battery is at the end of it's life, and it's time to get a new one.
the hero i still need every time i dig up my 360 controller for a game on pc that doesn't go well with keyboard and mouse.
MrBigPlaya 6 Does this work? I have two battery’s and want to try this hack to get them working, I am scared of them blowing up.

Huh, I tried this, but the clip isn't heating up at all...
Does that mean that the battery is done for?
same here
it was constant green light before i tried ur way and now no light after i put battery back and start charging and then after i tried that resetting logic again and again. i got green light for about 10 secs and no light again....my battery is only 2 month old .....
What kind of cable do i need the guy never told me bout the recharge controller I have a dead controller and I'm trying g to sync it
Help me, why does my wire colour turn green and disconnect the controller instead of charging it?
Same thing is happening to me!!
That's not the problem with my controller what's going on is when my battery is fully charged it won't even turn on my controller at all it blinks barely few times and then it shuts off not even giving it a chance for it to turn on I have to use the charging cable to keep my controller on why is that
I got a reading saying that 1.43 v when I connected 2&5 but when I connect 2&4 its nil please help me out
Would this help if the light doesn't even turn on on the charger my charger will have no light the home button would flash then stop
Your battery might be completely dead and just needs to be replaced.

Can you still hold the paper clip with glove since it gets hot
I wouldn't recommend it. You don't want the battery to overheat from discharging either. The indication that it is getting too hot is when the paperclip is too hot to hold.
followed your instructions but it dtill didn't work
when I plugged in the usb charging cable to the controller to.charge the battery the led light would flash up in green once, but very briefly... so I cleaned the contacts of the controller and the usb charging.cable for the wireless controller, and plugged it in.and out several times, and what do you know, the red led popped up and its now charging the battery!
Does this solve the issue with the red light going from red green within 5 seconds of plug in (for re charge) ?
That's what it's supposed to do
Dnt have an paper clip but what kind of videos u shoot and how much your camera cost ....
I use the Canon T4i. It was about $650 at the time.
I over charged my rechargeable battery pack and as soon as I unplug it dies so I got two new battery packs and put those in plugged the charger in and the controller says its fully charged when you press the home button but when I unplug it dies right away so I thought it was just that controller but no I plugged both battery's in to the other controller but it doesn't work ether if you know what to do can you message me thanks
soldering wire also works too, i didn't had any paperclip
+NoirPooperBR I think people have this problem the other way around lol.
NoirPooperBR I'm using safety pin and I cut off the pointy tip and it's holder/shield.
Cant you just put it.in the controller and keep turning it on till it wont give you a power light at all ,seems a safer method
i tried that method and still no luck i got a ni-mh 4800mah brand new got it from amazon n wen i plug it in it wont turn on with my halo 4 remoter but it does turn on with my white remote n it just flashes n wen i sync it ti the system it wont connect what should i do send it bak or what
before this my controller said it had a two bar i did this i didnt plug the charger in and turned it on it said it was a full bar what does this mean? did i fuck up my battery?
Your battery is probably fine. Just make sure your battery is near dead when doing this trick, and use the paper clip to drain it completely. The paperclip should not warm up if the battery is completely dead.
thank for the info my paper clip didnt warm up at all so i guess it was dead
Worked for my Nyko charge packs, thanks man!
I've done your steps with the paperclip and all but it still does not work for me plz tell me whats wrong

roldrix reyes tell me how it goes...im actually curious. but i just ended up buying a battery pack for 6.99 and its works great.
I tried this and my charger light blinks red does that mean i cant fix it anymore?
The battery pack seems dead and its not old;the Controller will only work With the recharge cord.any suggestions?
dude i try it out but doesnt work T_T
ive bought 3 battery pack and honestly i feel microsoft product have terrible QC compare to ps3
yes i own both console and my xbox is always the 1 giving me problem

Is ther a set time i need to hold them on that battery
Well whaddaya know, worked in 2022. Thanks maestro.
Hey wat do i after i just seat it there?
can somebody help me just bought a battery today and its not working when charger is not connected and when connected the charging light is not switching on can somebody help me plz
Is there anyway to do it WITH OUT the charging cable
Does the charger light flash when it's fully dead?
I plug my Xbox 360 controller into the Xbox and it keeps flashing the green light on the charger and it won't charge the battery pack
Waooooo!!you a fucking genius, mine wasnt working at all for days and I didnt know what to do. Just did exactly whats on the video and immediately my controler started charging.
Thanks brooo
Damn I was 2 feet away from my garbage can and heading to GameStop...Tried it & it worked!!! Thanks bruh
No problem!
Hahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
Is the light on the battery charger supposed to blink
does it work on all pc?
Umm does this work with battery pack ON ANROID
+Stacy Vayne If you mean on a cell phone battery, then probably no because the cell phone takes care of the charging and cell monitoring, so there is no internal logic chip to reset in the battery.
I need help my rechargeable battery pack for xbox360 won't turn on
thanks man!! my battery get a little sparkle and back work again nice
no way it worked. No overheating att all just reseted it thanks man i like
Does this process work for third-party rechargeable packs?
Pull up the Datasheet for the thirdparty battery and see if it matches the original batterys datasheet? Especially on the pinouts.
There is no data sheet. I got these from eBay from some place in New Jersey.
I think it might actually be pins 2 and 5 to drain it
what can you use instead of a paperclip
Ahh yes, shorting a rechargable battery, absolutly nothing could go wrong here.
PLS help it worked the first time on only one battery pack but when i was using it the next day it was almost completely drained, im trying to repeat the same advice on the video and nothing at all this time.
Make sure you get a full charge on the controller before disconnecting it. Other than that, I am not sure how to solve this problem.
Ok thanks for the advice.
Does this work with nyko battery packs?
help, evrytime i charge it it becomes green then i take it out then its not turning on even tho i have a battery pack
Very interesting. I tried it with one battery and plugged it into a charging station, but no go. Then I put it into a controller and plugged in a charging cable. At first, nothing....but now I see the red light on the cable is now ON and it appears to be charging! Time will tell~
what if the controller or charger cord wont turn on at all?
Was it fully operational before this trick?
I just got a new charger
ExtraEme Yes I have his problem
My dang battery pack is only 4 months old (Got it for Christmas) yet from basically day one, it wouldn't charge or it say's it's fully charged yet it dies two seconds later. So I'll get back to you and let ya'll know if this fixes it.
Hey I have the same problem. Did you ever get it fixed?
Alfredo Guzman Kinda. I did the thing in this video and it fixed it for a little while, then it went back to not charging. So I did it again and it seems to have fixed it once more. So it seems like if the logic board is bad in the battery pack, then this fix will temporarily fix it. So that's better then nothing.
+linnes16 oh ok thanks, I just wanted to know if it was worth doing beforehand. Thanks anyway
Alfredo Guzman Sorry, I'm not very direct when answering people. But yes, this will fix your battery pack if it's messing up.
your solution worked!!, I was just so frustrated by it, Thanks man
Omg , I was scared to do it at first, because of the comments of blowing up the battery , but I did it and it worked ! Thanks so much I have had 5 rechargeable batteries and now they work ! Thanks so much
"tell it that it dead " , lol I'm laughing so hard dude
Would it work with two needles?
No. The terminals need to contact each other.
Thanks It worked for me. At least say the red led is on again. Now I am waitin' : )
wait... it's green already... wtf???
Worked perfectly for me
Thank You!!
Dude I love you are the best mine wasn't even charging until I did this thank you
Yoo guys i have a problem wich is when i connect the cable a green ligth appears and then goes away when a red light is suppose to show up i did this dont know if it actually worked but i tried cleaning or rubbing something on the 6 pattern and i notice they were a little dirty and made me think that was the reason why i was not sending electricity
Major Nelson on my hit list.
This method FAILED for me on 4 battery packs that haven't been used in
years. They also had very little use before putting them into storage.
They're completely dead now and I tried this method many, many times on
each of the batteries. I'm just going to use the regular battery covers
and get some good rechargeable AA batteries.
Mine wont discharge or reset.
tred several times and it wont do anything.
i even tried re-charging it on the dock and it charges fine, but the controller still wont turn on
Can it work if u use a hair clip?
It just has to be a conductive piece of metal. That would probably work.
the viber is viberation all time with out conector plz help
What connector are you talking about?
Thanks alot I fex it cenctor usb for charge bt
I just tried this with pin #2 and #4...it did nothing. I then tried pin 2 and 5 and.....it drained! I checked the Voltage before draining, it was at 2.6. After about 15 to 20 minutes of off and on draining, it got down to 1.06. Then I did the "reset" with pin 1-5 and then 2-6. Charging battery now. Let's see if it holds a charge now.
I'll edit this later for update on results.
Update 1 year later?
Maybe that made the difference?
how long does it take to heat up
Thank you so much for helping us for saving our batteries.
WTF, it actually worked!? OMG, Thank you !!!
Do not have a paper clip, what else works? limited resources :\
Put your toaster inside your Xbox, it fixed it for me
I dont have that..... so how can i fix it if it never looked like that :l
