XXL modulars I cant get on my head fine but when I take them off I feel like my skull has been in a vice. The few XXXLs I tried are too big or just too loose so I've almost resigned to foregoing getting my license (again). I'll have to look for a place here that sells Bell or just order one. Take care!
Man I've been having a terrible time for full faced, cycle gear couldn't believe I couldn't fit their biggest helmet, got the hjc i10 5xl and wouldn't even start to go over the top of my head. Smh
The breathing thing is actually because as you exhale and begin to inhale, the diaphragm expands your rib cage and increases the volume of your lungs which lowers the pressure inside. Gasses will naturally move from higher pressure areas into lower pressure areas. So the atmosphere is a higher pressure than the pressure inside your empty expanded lungs. This causes air to rush into your lungs. The opposite will occur as you exhale. The diaphragm controls the expansion and constriction of the rib cage causing the lungs to increase or decrease in volume, but the reason we are able to breathe is due to the lower and higher pressures in our lungs vs the atmosphere. Now factor in wind pressure and it will push the air a lot more forcefully back into your lungs causing a feeling like, losing your breath, or choking. From your description I believe this is what you are experiencing.

hey brotha thanks for the info. i had to get a specially made football helmet for me 2 years ago my senior year of hs🤣 i knew i was gonna have to do some searchin to find a bike helmet for me too and this made it a lil easier.
Man, its wild. My story is so similar to yours. Football player big Ole head, can't find a helmet was looking at klrs (was told due to my side it'd be a good fit) but I bailed on the klr and instead just got myself a Harley-Davidson heratige.
i've got a xxxl umbra from quin design. finally found one that fits and has good bluetooth. i too have a larger than normal "round" head and it's been a tough time looking for one that fits. got tired of amazon selection because i always end up sending them back. must admit, i didn't try the bell helmets. thank you for that one.
I don't think I'm at triple x helm but, I tried on a large shoei rf 1400 - arguably "the best full faced helmet 2021" - super tight fit ugh - I'll be checking out the Bell's next
I have such a big head, a Bilt Nomad 5x doesn’t fit. An army boonie cap size 8 had to be stretched for 15 minutes to fit. Going by the helmets I’ve tried, I think I need a 7x. I don’t know if that even exists. I got a mascot head. I don’t know what to do.
@@CaptainScorpio24 yeah man. Worse still, I got very little chin. It's like a lego man head, haha. Fortunately I just found a helmet just barely big enough. HJC i90 5xl. It was close. The no chin thing might be what made it work! Hahaha.
I cant find that Bell Reconn in XL anywhere just always small medium and XXL or XXXL damn, anyone know a Half Helmet in Round Head type not Oval type head that they have in XL but is budget friend around the $80-$120 range?

How did you order a custom hjc? I have a cl max 2 - 3xl and had to shave the inside a bit. I have not been able to find another helmet to fit. I have a long oval over 26" noggin

My CKX TRANZ-E 5X helmet hurts me like crazy.. Vega supposed to have 6X and they never have one in stock.. EDIT: After watching you are having troubles with 3XL... Welcome in my world trying to find 6-7X

I love Bell Helmets, but like wtf? They don't fit me. Maybe I need 3x and do not want to admit it. The 2x's I try are too tight. I am not your size either. Weird. The only helmet I find comfortable is the Biltwell Bonanza 2x, but I still look like Kazoo.
It is a little heavy but it doesn't bother me. Full disclosure I don't know what a light one would feel like cus every helmet I've ever worn has been huge lol
3XL? Please! 4XL here, 5’7” female. 5XL when I have a full head of locs. It’s frustrating that safety is compromised with something that fits me(DOT sticker only). Otherwise I’m collecting migraines and rubbing my hair off.

What does your head measure in inches if you don't mind me asking? Mine is just over 25 inches I've tried some 4x helmets that still didn't fit perhaps my head shape is different.
About 25 and a half. The sizes and shapes are different with every brand. There were some 4x helmets I couldn't get on at all. Bell's worked the best for me by far.

I have a Schuberth 3xl and it has good headroom and doesn't feel like it is squishing my noggin although colour options are limited.
x4 head here and i can also agree with it being hard to breath when wind foced into my face

Im looking at possibly a 4x. Most helmets i cant get the helmet on past the opening. Just sits on the top of my head like a yamaka.

I just put on a 3/4 helmet and I look like the guys from Spaceballs. I think it’s partly because my head is oval and oval
I have to wear a 3 xl as well. I have had good luck with the Scorpion ex 420 models and have a few graphic choices.

You should be able to swap out for thinner cheek pads for the modular helmet

Probably. Your head is only a little bigger then mine. It depends a lot on your head shape. I would try on the full face if you can.

The issue with breathing is normal. You'll get used it and wont even notice it after a while.

HJC makes 5XL helmets too. I tried the modular. It was too tight closed for me.

It's not necessarily any less safe... They just aren't going to spend the money to have it tested for the 2% of us that wear them
